She Was Pregnant

Without further ado, Jude swiftly brought the lifeless Rose to the emergency room. He couldn't risk her life by waiting for the medical staff to bring out the stretcher, could he? No, he couldn't let her suffer and, he couldn't take the risk should anything happened to his darling.

Her hands fell lifelessly by her side as Jude placed her on the wheeled-patient bed before the nurses quickly pushed her into the operation theatre that they had prepared earlier. Samuel rushed to him with his shock expression by looking at the state she was in. He looked at him, sighed heavily. What on earth exactly happens to these two people? He shook his head in wonder.

"You need to save her, Sam. Please save her. Now go!" his voice was commanding and demanding.

"I will try my best. I want you to go to my office and get a change. I have an extra shirt in my little cupboard." He urged Jude to go have a change while he would busying himself with the task at hand.

"No. I will wait here," Jude refused him. Samuel could only sigh and quickly went into the emergency room with few more medical experts trailing behind him. Jude plopped down on the waiting chair with his hands on his head. Shoulders slumped.

He had never anticipated the worse to happen. Not in this way. He rested his head against the wall. Eyes closed. There was remorse swelled deep inside of him. If only he agreed to go with her instead of focusing on the damn business projects. If only he paid more attention to her well-being. If only… he groaned in desperation. This was the second time he had the fear of losing. The first time was when he received his brother's death, five years back. He had to leave his team, his dream. And today… Seeing his only love being stabbed, blood-soaked her dress and her pale face, his heart was clenched that he started to feel dizzy.

No… No… He can't lose her. God! No! He must stay strong and wait for her. Their wedding will be held in the next two weeks, and he will make sure she would become his only bride on that day.

"Have you secured the man?" he asked through the phone in the next seconds. The air around him grim. When he heard the report, he grunted.

"Do whatever needed to do to get the information from him. I'm going to kill those who hurt her," he ordered.

Frantic rushed steps could be heard not too far from where he waited anxiously for the doctors to update him. But he didn't bother with it. Deep inside he was trying to connect all the dots, from one scene to another. Apparently, his Rose was the key to solve all the mysteries.

"What exactly happened?" Mr Smith asked nervously. The other three panted as they drew closer to where he was.

"She was gravely hurt, stabbed by a swiss army knife," Jude answered him, expressionlessly. He took a deep breath and turned his gaze to Mr Smith. There was a glint of dangers.

"Mr Smith, I really wish to know why does someone want to kill her." Mr and Mrs Smith both dumbstruck. Even Mr and Mrs Townshend too. They looked askance at their son. What did he mean by that? Who had the intention to murder their soon-to-be daughter-in-law?

"Yesterday I caught someone who had been stalking her. This afternoon, someone tried to hit her with a motorcycle, head-on and this evening, someone tried to kill her on a beach. You tell me, why do people target your daughter, my wife? Is there any secret that I should know by now?" his voice sounded agitated yet it was much more demanding and commanding the truth.

"We don't know anything about this…" Mr Smith stuttered. His voice shook that he was unable to mask the anxiety that he had at the moment. He exchanged his glanced with his wife as the wife was paled.

It was then Samuel came out of the emergency room. His expression grim and despair. He blinked his eyes numerous times and cleared his throat.

"Jude… I'm sorry…" He paused before his voice sent all of them into the oblivion by saying, "We were unable to save the foetus," Jude and all those around him looked at Doctor Samuel as if he spoke an alien language.

"Foetus? Baby?" Mrs Townshend asked, shocked.

"Yes, ma'am. Apparently Rose was pregnant for three weeks," it was as if his world crumbled when he heard it. Rose was pregnant? His baby… He blankly looked at Samuel.

"She lost too much blood and the stab was too deep that caused her womb to be ruptured, hence the miscarriage," Samuel explained in detail.

"Wait… Stab? My Rose was stabbed?" Mrs Smith shocked. Her tears flowing freely down her old cheeks when she heard it. My dear Rose… Oh, my poor baby…

Jude stood still. He was unable to breathe normally when he heard Samuel. He tried hard to discern everything that came out from Samuel's mouth. Foetus. Baby… His baby… Gone? He looked up at the ceiling, staring at it for a while with a hitched breath.

"How is Rose?" he asked, in the end. After he regained his senses and took control of his emotions. He will have plenty more chances to have some babies with Rose, so the most important and crucial matter right at the moment was Rose. His life.

The rest looked at him. Mrs Smith and Mrs Townshend both plopped down on the waiting chairs when they heard their unborn grandchild was gone.

"She was in a critical state and in need of breathing machine to survive. We could only pray for the best," it was then paled Rose wheeled-out of the operation theatre by two nurses. Upon looking at her current state, Mr Smith bent and clenched his heart in despair. He had never expected Rose would end up in the dire state.

Jude glanced at his soon-to-be father-in-law. His gaze was grim.

"Uncle, I will be waiting for your explanation. I believe there's more to it. So, please tell me so that I can help you especially Rose. We are about to become family!" His voice stern and really commanding. It was as if his true aura that he had suppressed for so long emerged, involuntarily. Then he turned to his parents.

"Mom, dad. Please go home. I'll update the two of you. Anyway, don't tell anyone about her pregnancy. I don't want her to be distressed once she learned that she was pregnant before the cruel event," With that, he left them and swiftly followed the Samuel heading towards the VVIP ward.

At the VVIP ward.

Jude held her hands, his aura still gloomy. Samuel sighed upon looking at the way his friend was. He was really curious. He wanted to ask but he knew it was not the best time. So, he just shut his mouth and performed his job as the best doctor in the city.

He went and stood next to Jude. Slowly patted his shoulder, offering his deepest regret for what had befallen his friend.

"I really wonder what exactly happened… Do you mind to fill me in about it?" he looked at the stoic man.

"No. I can't tell you." Short and simple. Samuel was taken aback. It was then Tony entered with a bag of clothes for Jude to change in. Jude took it and swiftly went to the washroom and get change. After a while, he came out with refreshed looked.

"How's the thing I asked you to investigate?" he asked Tony.

"We are still investigating it, Captain," Tony answered him truthfully.

"Then, you should go, I want the report by noon tomorrow," Tony swiftly left them after he heard his boss' words. It concerned their lady boss' safety, hence, they couldn't slack off.

Samuel sighed. He took out a piece of scanning photo from his pocket and passed it to the grim Jude.

"Here, you might want to have a look at your unborn child," with a trembled hand Jude took it and stared blankly at it. His baby… His unborn baby…

He believed that Rose didn't know that she was pregnant. He instinctively placed his hand on her flat abdomen. Caressed it with love. It's okay love, we have a lifetime to make more babies. He vowed in his heart.
