Do you love her?

"Do you love that woman?" His mother ask him when everyone was out.

"What! No! Mum, why will you even ask that, I mean they were the ones who wanted to kill us, but you and Pat insist they stay here." He said.

"I may be old, but I know when a man is in love with a woman"

"Mum! I'm not in love" he said and hurried to his room. "This woman, huh!"

Evelyn was finding it difficult to go about her business the usual way, her mind will always wander away to Alex, the way he looked at her, the gentle way he touches her, all of it has some effect on her, even though she was trying to act strong, is obvious now that she need him more than he needs her.

But why is he avoiding me? Did I tell him off, no! I must find a way to reach him.

Evelyn was lost in thought but a knock on her office door brought her back to reality.

“Yes”

“You have a patient waiting for you, ma”

“I will be there” she dismissed the nurse who came to call her. But went right back to thinking of Alex.

"But why is he not coming for his checkups, is he avoiding me?” she smirked looking at her phone.

She didn’t mean to send him a text, but she did anyway.

Alex received the text on the dinner table, he place his hand on the phone and dragged it, putting it in his pocket.

“What it is?” Sandra ask as Alex was not at ease anymore, he wants to read the text, and he wants to know the content of the text.

“Uh..is nothing, I will get that later, let’s just eat.”

“Do you need anything else?” Sandra asks Alex when they’re done eating.

“No, thank you”

“Okay,” she said and wish him goodnight.

“What! Goodnight?” Alex muttered, why is she wishing him goodnight? Did she notice his nervousness?.

But somehow he was relieved that Sandra left him alone.

He quickly brought out his phone and read the text.

“What the fuck!” his heart starts to beat faster, how is he going to leave Sandra and their baby to go to Evelyn? And he needs to see her.

He called Jack and told him. “I don’t know what to do man”

“Then do nothing!” Jack said over the phone, Clara is coming I got to go” Jack hung up the phone, and Alex cursed.

“Now is all about Clara, I don’t get to talk to my friend again because of Clara.” He slide the phone back into his pocket but didn’t know he has mistakenly sent Evelyn a love emoji

“Yes,” he still wants me” Evelyn yell at her phone and then called him immediately.

“Hey… meet me up, the same place”

Alex's heart accelerated, he went to his room, and Sandra was sleeping or pretending to be sleeping, he kiss her forehead and went to his baby’s room and do the same, then he hurried out taking his car keys.

Evelyn ran to hug him when she saw him coming.

“I missed you,” she said and Alex was dumbstruck.
