"You are fired!"

"Are fired!"

"Fired!"

The words repeatedly rang in Sophie's ears as her hazy eyes watched the stunningly handsome man walk away like he wasn't bothered about anything in the world.

Was she really going to lose her job just like that? Was she really so unfortunate? Was her luck really that bad?

No, she couldn't accept that, she wouldn't let herself get so many misfortunes in just one day, she had to change the things she could, as for the ones she couldn't….they should go to hell.

Steeling her resolve, Sophie raced towards Raymond, who by now was already outside the company and was about to board his car. A jet black Lamborghini which screamed expensive just by looking at it.

Raymond had just closed the door to the driver's seat when the view of Sophie's face covered his entire window on his left, her head was just right in front of him with some of her Scarlett red hair trailing down the half raid glass, her face was flushed with her eyes slightly swollen, still, it didn't do much in hiding her determination that was blazing in the dept of her eyes and her persistent expression, Raymond's cold and usually indifferent expression shifted for the very first time since Sophie got to know him, his thick eyebrows raised slightly as a rare show of surprise flashed in his red eyes but quickly faded like it was an illusion, his face and expression quickly returned to his usual stern and cold mask he always had on as he looked at the beauty beside his car, waiting for her to State the reason she had her face so close to him.

Sophie, on the other hand, was currently in a daze, though Raymond's shift in expression was just in a flash and almost felt like she just imagined it, Sophie was sure that what she had seen was real and not her imagination, just for a brief moment, her usually cold boss just gave her the feeling of disbelief and amusement, she felt he wasn't expecting her to chase him but then found her actions to be entertaining and wanted to see how she would proceed with her intentions.

Unknowingly to her, almost a minute had passed with her standing there and all she did was stare into the red eyes of the otherworldly handsome creature who gave a faint feeling of mystery to those around him. It wasn't an understatement to call him an angelic beauty, but of course, Sophie had seen another underworldly being who would be able to rival the lady killer before her.

Nero.

The stranger with striking blue eyes and hair that Sophie had encountered at the bar the other day, his handsome face and soul-hooking smile still played freshly in her mind like he had planted a course on her to always remember him, if Raymond was an angelic beauty then Nero was without a doubt a devilish beauty.

"How long are you planning on standing there?" Raymond's cold voice brought an abrupt stop to Sophie's daydream, one could easily guess that he was angry from the irritation from his voice, though his face remained expressionless.

Sophie, whose thoughts were interrupted, jacked back from the coldness in Raymond's voice, causing her head to bump against the top of the car door and made her head a little, only now did she realize that she had just been standing there without saying what she originally came for.

"S-sir, I…about what you said earlier,c-can y.." Sophie started her speech though her voice was bathed in nervousness, she still forced the words out, but alas

"Don't think much of it, I don't go back on my words, not for anything in the world, now if may excuse me" Raymond didn't let her finish and said to her sternly before stepping on the accelerator as his black sparkling Lamborghini dashed forward, leaving behind a stunned Sophie, who's hair swayed because of the gust of wind caused by the speeding car that soon disappeared into the horizon.

Sophie kept looking towards the horizon, even when the black Lamborghini wasn't in sight anymore, she was too shocked to even walk away, why wouldn't she, her boss didn't even let her finish her words before cutting her off, this wasn't going according to the script, like in those movies she watched, wasn't the boss supposed to give a condition to the beauty? Then it will be up to her if she would accept or walk away. Was he also not attracted to her that she didn't even meet the requirements of being offered such options? Just what was wrong with her, even her boyfriend left her!!

Thinking up to this point, the determination in Sophie's eyes was quickly washed away as her eyes were clouded in grief and pain, emotional pains, and tears slowly gathered at the corner of her eyes, blurring her sight before trailing down her face, stretching all the way from her cheek to her jaw before dripping to the ground.

Under the warm ray of sunlight, one woman, overshadowed by dozens of heart-shattering emotions, cried silently.

Currently, in Kate's room, Sophie had her head on Kate's lap as she sobbed ceaselessly, Kate on the other hand just stroked the latter's hair gently and allowed her to drench her skirt in hot tears, she didn't try to comfort Sophie and just allowed her cry out all the emotions stinging her heart.

Almost an hour later, Sophie finally stopped, well, not that she actually stopped though, it was as if her tears had all dried out as she couldn't bring out any more tears and only the sound of her hiccuping could be heard in the room.

"When are you planning to get over this, honestly, you don't have to work and you know that I can take care of you and Mom and Grandma, why so sad about losing a job, the pay isn't even that high"

Kate finally spoke up after some time, although she knew that her friend wasn't a leech type and didn't like to depend on others, she couldn't bear seeing her Sophie in such a state, it really ripped her heart, right now, all she wanted to do was to get a hold on that Felix bastard and give him a sermon on the topic 'pain'

Sophie didn't reply and just kept her silence, lost in her own thoughts, she seemed to be outside the world, thinking about all the things that had happened to her in just a short span of four days, from Felix to meeting Nero, and now, getting fired from her job, just what the hell was going on?

She could have still found an explanation about Felix to her mom and grandma, but just how was she supposed to cover up for her present issue, losing her job? Her mom would surely overreact to this considering her worrywart character, her grandmother was still another issue, that old lady would want to hear about how everything started and Sophie was totally defenseless against her.

Right at this moment, the door to Kate's room opened as her mother, Lena, stormed in with a mischievous smile on her face, but her face instantly took a hundred and eighty degrees turn when she noticed the heavy atmosphere in the room, with her black eyes glue to the feeble figure of Sophie laying on Kate's legs with her shoulders slightly shaking, half of her face was covered by her soft and beautiful red hair, still, it wasn't hard to guess that something was wrong based on the expression on Kate's face.

"What happened?" Lena drew closer to the two girls and sat down at the edge of the bed, her eyes darting between the two girls before her.

Kate took some time to explain the situation to her mom, obviously excluding the part about Sophie getting fired by Raymond because she understood Sophie wasn't ready to make this issue known yet.

After getting the full gist of the matter (she thinks), Lena breathed in relief before looking at Sophie with sorry eyes before saying.

"It's alright dear, this isn't the end of the world, he just didn't know the treasure he missed"

" That was exactly what I told her.." Kate suddenly butted in from the side but wasn't even able to finish her words before...

"You shut up and let me finish" Lena glared at her daughter who pouted in retaliation and then looked away while mumbling some words to herself.

Lena only took 2 to 3 seconds to stab her daughter with her eyes before turning to look at Sophie with a completely different gaze, a gaze filled with tenderness and care that make Kate's eyebrows twitch and veins pop up on her forehead " I was definitely adopted" Kate mumbled with a wronged voice.

"As I was saying, he doesn't recognize the treasure he just threw away, you should be happy Girl, there are tons of good men out there who won't only love you and know your worth, they would even go to the ends of the Earth and even journey to hell for you, you just have to wait for the right person and you will never regret loving someone, but of course, finding the right person is difficult but it's not impossible, you just have to check in the right place at the right time." Lena patted Sophie's back while saying the words like a spell enchanting.
