When Xu Jingli finally woke up, it was well past midnight, almost 2 a.m. His body felt heavy, and his eyes groggy. A dull ache throbbed in his head as he struggled to sit up.
He then noticed a weight on his right side, and when he looked down, he saw the figure of someone sleeping soundly. Because the room was dark, he couldn't make out who it was, but for some reason, he felt he knew these hands.
Calmness washed over him, and the worry lines on his face gradually receded. A small smile escaped his lips as he turned on the bedside lamp to fully see Chen Mumu, sleeping beside him.
The lamp cast a warm light, making Chen Mumu look ethereal. She was so beautiful that Xu Jingli rubbed his eyes to ensure he was seeing things correctly.
