Chapter 70: Conflict

I asked, "What is it?"

Leonard smirked. "For instance, why they're so doubtful of you."

My hair stood on end.

Indeed. It hadn't even occurred to me.

It was understandable for Aunt Nancy to doubt me. She'd caught me and Leonard together so many times that it was only natural for her to suspect us. However, Grandma didn't know anything about this!

"What I mean is..."

Leonard put me down on the bed and leaned in close to me. "Queena, have you stepped on someone's tail? Someone that you shouldn't have offended?"

"Someone that I shouldn't have offended?"

I repeated his words, not following his train of thought.

"Yeah." He said indifferently, "It's not surprising for you to offend someone, judging from the way that you act."

He was trying to rag on me again.

With everything that was weighing down on me, I couldn't be bothered to come up with a retort. I just ignored him.
