Chapter 67- Amy's Performance

★★★

The classroom door creaked open, and Delilah entered, her sturdy travelling box behind her, a smile plastered on her face as she recalled how Chen Xiao nagged like a mother hen.

The smile soon disappeared as her eyes landed on Amy, who was already making her way towards her.

"Delilah!" Amy's voice rang out, her voice dripping with feigned sweetness, a little too chipper for Delilah's liking. Amy sashayed over, a saccharine smile glued to her face. "Hey, how are you?"

The other students turned to them like they were about to watch a show. Everyone knew about Delilah's rebellion against Amy.

Delilah raised an eyebrow, trying to figure out the reason for Amy's sudden friendliness. "Fine," she replied curtly. "What do you want?"

Amy's smile faltered for a moment, then returned, brighter than before. "Oh, I… I only wanted to say I'm sorry for, you know, everything. Can you forgive me?"

Delilah's eye twitched, she let out a humorless chuckle. "Forgive you? But you didn't offend me, did you?"

Amy's eyes suddenly welled up. "I know, I know, I was awful, but I promise, I'll be a better friend from now on. Please, Delilah, just give me another chance."

Delilah: "…" what is going on here? Can I have a forty meters long sword, thank you.

Delilah's gaze hardened. "You know, Amy, your insincere tears doesn't fool me anymore." She said lowly that only both of them could hear.

Wasn't she the one who wanted her to come back begging? What is with the sudden friendliness? Did her head got hit by a donkey or what?

Amy nodded understandingly, she raised her head, eyes glistened with tears, "Which bus are you taking to the camp?"

Delilah, unfazed by the act, raised a brow. "Taking the bus? I haven't decided yet. Why do you ask?" She replied coolly, her eyes unwavering.

She realized the trap immediately, Amy was trying to force her hand, to make her seem like a bad sport for refusing to join her. She has moved with Amy for so long that she could tell her thoughts.

Was this her plan all along? Too bad, she was no longer that simple-minded Delilah.

Amy's smile faltered for a fleeting moment, but she quickly recovered. "Nothing, I'm just curious, maybe we can take the same one! It'll be more fun that way, don't you think?" She moved to hug Delilah's arm but was rejected.

" I'm sure it will be," Delilah agreed, her voice laced with sarcasm as she moved away from Amy like a plague. Her gaze sharpened. "I appreciate the offer, Amy, but I think I'll manage on my own."

A tremor of resentment flickered across Amy's eyes, quickly replaced by a theatrical wince. "Oh, alright. I was just hoping we could catch up, you know, since we haven't seen each other much lately."

Delilah watched Amy's performance with a mixture of amusement and disgust. She can perfectly tell Amy was putting on a show for the benefit of herself, the students were now watching the exchange with bated breath.

Since she has been handsome once, why can't she be handsome again?

Delilah's lips twitched into a wry smile. "Funny you should say that, but haven't you been avoiding me all week?"
