Something’s missing

Yiyang rested the whole day. It was only dinner when she decided to go down and eat with her parents and siblings. Eating dinner at home with the whole family sure feels different than she was in A country eating dinner alone. The warmth of a family indeed makes everything better.

After dinner, Yiyang was summoned by her parents in her father's study. Inside the study, she saw her parents having tea together. As her parents noticed she came in, they both asked her to sit down and have some tea.

After having a sip of the tea, Yiyang's father started to talk. "Ying, I heard from Secretary Lu you wanted to go to work tomorrow? Shouldn't you rest first for a week before starting on work?"

"Dad, I'm okay. It would be best for me to be able to help brother as early as I can. I know how much help he needs now that the company is unstable since you've been hospitalized. I promise I'll do well."

Noticing how set Yiyang is on starting work right away, Yiyang's father can only give in and let her daughter go to work the next morning. "Okay then. I don't think I can't stop you. But you have to promise me you won't be hard on yourself, okay?"

"I promise, dad."

"Okay then. Rest well and sleep early."

When Yiyang got back to her room, her eyes immediately softened seeing how Yiqian fell asleep on her bed. Her little sister probably wanted to sleep with her but fell asleep while waiting for her to come back. Even if she was careful in not waking Yiqian up, Yiqian was still stirred from her sleep. Seeing her older sister was back, Yiqian smiled and sat up. "Jie, you're back? What did you talk about with Dad?"

"Oh, it's nothing. He just wants me to rest more instead of working right away tomorrow."

Hearing how her sister would start working tomorrow made Yiqian sulk. Because working right away means spending less time with her sister whom she missed all these years. Noticing this, Yiyang quickly comforted Yiqian. "Hey, I promised I would spend more time with you, right? That meant I would spend my weekends with you. We'll go wherever you want to go and we'll do whatever you want to do. Yingying's weekends are only for Qianqian. That's a promise. So don't be sad now, okay?"

"Then you're not allowed to spend your weekends with anyone except me." Yiqian declared.

Yiyang can only laugh at Yiqian's remark. Still, Yiyang decided it would be best to have a heartfelt conversation with her sister tonight. They have missed each other a lot and there are many stories left untold for the both of them. The two sisters spent the night like this.

Yiqian was utterly happy at how her sister is finally here to listen to her problems and stories. Noting how she's running out of stories to tell, Yiqian told Yiyang that it's her time to share more. "Jie, I'm running out stories! You have to tell me more when you were in A country!"

"I seriously don't have anything to tell you more!"

"Don't bluff around! I know there's more!" Yiqian retorted.

Yiyang knew Yiqian won't give up. So she decided to share what happened at the airport in the morning.

Upon knowing the event that happened in the airport, Yiqian instantly panicked over what Yiyang told her but she knew it was only best to dismiss what happened. "Jiejie, that was no fun! Don't tell me you believed the little girl you're her mummy? She might have mistook you for her mother, you know."

"Yiqian, I know it's impossible for her to be my child. But I've been thinking about that child since then. And it's been bothering me. I feel like something's missing. And it hurts. When I saw the little girl crying for me, it felt like my heart is being pricked by a thousand needles." Yiyang looked at Yiqian as she explained.

By then, Yiyang noticed Yiqian's stiff facial expression and how she is avoiding her gaze. Thus, Yiyang found it weird and felt like Yiqian was hiding something from her so she tried to probe further. "Yiqian, you, you're not hiding something from me, are you?"
