Wishes

" I could have asked for almost anything in the infinite multiverse. Reality control, time manipulation,super intelligence, and so much more." Said a soul in an infinite white void, a wistful tone in his voice as if remembering something.

"Yet as my first wish I chose for you, the one above all that could and would ever exist, to give me purpose, a mission." The soul said to a large ball of light in front of him.

"Because as you should know, and probably have experienced at one point, power without purpose, without a goal, is worth less than the dirt underneath a person's feet." Finished the soul. It's form fluctuating slightly. It's voice no longer sounding wistful, but lonely and empty.

The white light in front of the soul was silent. Somewhat surprised by the declaration of the soul in front of it. Never in it's existence had someone wished for such a thing. 

But God couldn't help but understand the soul's reasoning.  They themselves are the best example of this. They faced boredom every moment of their existence. 

Said boredom was why this particular soul had been chosen to be reincarnated into another world. That and the life this soul had went through. It being very unique compared to most beings in existence.

"I see. A rather interesting choice for your first wish, my child. Admittedly you surprised me. I am not omniscient, so I had no way of knowing what you'd say. But even so, this is not an easy feat." Said god earnestly.  They had been here since the beginning of everything after all.

The soul didn't speak, too surprised to be able to. It didn't think that God wouldn't be omniscient. That's something to keep in mind.

Talking once more God said" Your wish has been granted. Upon reaching your new world directions will be given. Now onto your second and third wish."

Snapping out of it the soul tilted his form indicating a nod.

"For my second wish I want the quirk of Overhaul from my hero acidemia, but instead of just matter, the power works on everything." Said the soul.

Many may pick other abilities that are more powerful but the soul had his reasons. One of which is that the power had a lot of potential.

"An interesting choice my child. Why that specific power when you could have asked for something more powerful, for example, multiplying anything by anything?" asked God.

Staying silent for a moment the soul answered. Only this time the way in which the soul spoke told of the conviction in his words.

" Power that you do not work for is something I despise. Even back in my old life I hated the idea of getting power, personal, political, or otherwise, without some semblance of effort. Me asking for anything more than an offensive ability that gives me a good starting point would ridicule the previous life I've lived." Began the soul. 

Images of past mentors and friends came to mind when he spoke. Their teachings and words playing over in his mind. 

He would not put all the lessons he had learned over the years into the dirt.

"Once again you surprise me. Most would throw away their values in the face of potential unlimited power. Yet you stuck with your morals and principles, color me impressed." Responded God in a proud tone towards one of his creations.

"Thank you." The soul said calmly. Not showing any pride or true thankfulness in his speaking. This was who he is, nothing would change that.

God only hummed at the soul's words. Before giving the soul an indication for the soul to state his last wish. The soul picking up on this moved on to his last and arguably most powerful wish.

"For my last wish, I want no being other than you to be able to indirectly kill or harm me." Spoke the soul.

If God was in a more human like form one could have seen a rare sight of God raising an eyebrow.

" Would you elaborate by what you mean by that, my child. While I believe I can understand  what you mean I wish to make sure." Said God, his tone showing curiosity and hints of amusement.

The soul didn't question why God didn't just read his mind or something similar. He just summed it up to god not wanting to ruin the surprise. Instead he calmly stated what his wish intailed.

" This wish would make it so things such as reality warping, time erasing/changing, existence exterminating, instakill abilities, poison, debuffs, and more do not effect me in any way." Said the soul, explaining the ability in very specific details.

This wish may seem to break the very code that the soul had stated he followed mere moments ago, but that wasn't the case.  This ability while sounding all powerful really wasn't. He could still be killed by someone stabbing him, shooting him, really anything someone could do personally. 

This ability was just a precaution. The soul knew that there are beings that exist that could  kill him in an instant if he didn't have the right skill set to counter them. 

"That's a rather unique one. Don't think I've heard that one before. But it is granted."  Spoke God after listening to the request of the soul. 

The soul would have smiled if he could.

Now that the soul had asked for his wishes the ball of light that represented God shined brightly.

The soul could feel himself being pulled away from the white void. Being dragged into a whole new universe.

But before the soul left the realm permanently God spoke one last time.

" May you find purpose beyond my directions, my child. May you find peace or even love. May you finally live rather than survive like you have all your life. But most of all may you find yourself in this infinite existence."

With those final words the soul felt no more.
