As Evily got into the car, Bruce frowned slightly and leaned over, causing the woman to feel nervous. She stared at Bruce, not knowing what he was thinking.
Click. It turned out that Bruce had put on her seatbelt for her.
"Are you hungry?" he asked.
"Yeah. I'm in the mood for some spicy," Evily replied slowly.
"Sure!" Bruce nodded. "Where do you feel like eating? Tell me about the place."
Evily suggested a place she used to frequent. Bruce didn't know how to get there, so Evily leaned over to key in the GPS location.
"I used to visit this place often for some food and drinks with my Jamie."
Unfortunately, the place was packed. She scratched her head in a slight embarrassment and said, "It'll be our turn soon."
After a couple of minutes, it was finally their turn, and Evily quickly got up. "Let's go. It's our turn!" She subconsciously took Bruce's hand.
Bruce raised his brows as he looked at Evily holding his hand with a tender smile, and he allowed her to do as she pleased.
Evily took his hand without even realizing it, Bruce had already clasped her hand when she noticed that, and it was too late for her to let go.
There was a small table which catered to only two people. Their sittings were not spacious, but it was good enough for them.
Evily tried to go along with Bruce's palate and handed him the menu. "Run through the menu."
Bruce raised his brows and tapped the menu with his slender fingers.
Soon dishes were served. She quickly placed her bowl nearer as she saw Bruce getting some food for her. "I'll help myself!"
Evily enjoyed her food as she hadn't had the chance to enjoy such a meal for a while, but the girl noticed that Bruce ate little. Evily realized that Bruce didn't enjoy spicy food.
Evily pushed the menu back to Bruce. "You don't have to go along with me. Order whatever you feel like having!"
Bruce tapped on the table. The pasta was served, and he said, "Let's eat!"
Evily understood that he could take spicy food, but not too much.
After their meal, they left the restaurant and walked downstairs.
"We need to be at the airport in thirty minutes," Bruce looked at his wristwatch.
Surprised, Evily looked up at him. "What are you saying?"
"I'm going out on a business trip for the next few days. You need to send your boyfriend to the airport." Bruce tugged at her arm.
"No way!"
Despite Evily's refusal, it was no use.
At the moment, she was at the airport's VIP lounge with Bruce, who was gripping her hand tightly, keeping her beside him. Her expression showed how unhappy she was with the situation.
"I've already sent you here, so can I leave now, Uncle Bruce?" She asked.
She couldn't wait to leave, but Bruce refused to let go of her.
"Be good. If you call me by my name. I will let you go," he offered.
Without hesitation, Evily yelled, "Uncle!"
Her voice was filled with conviction.
Looking at Bruce pressing his lips together in annoyance, she could not hold back her smile.
However, her joy was short-lived. She yelped in pain when he grabbed her chin.
Glaring coldly at her, Bruce dared her, "Why don't you repeat that?"
It did not seem like a request, but an order.
Evily did not dare to call him an uncle again.
"Okay. W-Why do you always have to show that expression?"
She cursed inside her head repeatedly, unable to understand where Bruce's nasty fetish came from.
In contrast, Bruce tore a thin smile looking at Evily.
------
Later on, Evily met up with Jamie but she did not tell Jamie about the other two incidents with Matthew and Bruce either. Since she would not be meeting Matthew again, she didn't feel the need to disclose their earlier encounters.
However, it was a small world out there.
That night, when she was out partying with Jamie, she bumped into Matthew unexpectedly.
Matthew didn't seem to be in a good mood at that time. Aggravated by the lady next to him, he pushed her away violently, causing her to knock into Evily.
"What the hell are you doing? Don't you have eyes?" Jamie shouted at Matthew and his companion while she held onto Evily.
Matthew's sullen expression suddenly changed when he turned around and saw Jamie and Evily.
Noticing that Evily bowed down her head and looked rather withdrawn, he felt puzzled.
Jamie then glared back at Matthew and said displeasingly, "What are you looking at, Matthew? She is our friend, not one of those girls you can simply hook up with." Jamie knew who he was.
"Your friend?" Matthew chuckled. "Since she's your friend, why don't you introduce her to me? I don't mind making a new friend."
"Hi! I'm Matthew Harrison." He greeted her.
"Hi, I'm Evily Swann." Evily forced a smile and introduced herself.
Matthew's smile turned sinister when he caught a glimpse of the innocent glimmer in her eyes.
Evily sensed ill intent from Matthew and quickly interrupted, "Alright, let's go in."
