Jamie raised a brow. "Why are you so stupid, Eve?"
"She thinks that her boyfriend is cheating on her. She asked me to accompany her to that musical show to catch her boyfriend. I thought that Amelia would have an invitation card when she asked me to accompany her."
"That bitch! Where is she? Why didn't she help to bail you out or explain your situation?" Jamie cursed.
"I don't know." Evily lifted her head slightly, but still, tears continued pouring down her face.
Walking over to Evily, Jamie hugged her tightly, her voice brimmed with distress. "I came to the city to submit my script."
Evily wept for an interminable amount of time until her eyes were swollen and her head felt unbearably fuzzy. It was as though the bout of crying had sapped her of all energy.
Jamie dragged her out of bed, forcing her to get dressed and doll herself up. She had just come out of Jamie's bedroom when Bruce appeared before her eyes.
The smile froze on her lips, and her eyes rounded in shock. Why is he here?
Bruce was staring at the young lady through squinted eyes. Evily's face contorted with awkwardness as she stood still.
Why is he here? Is he a Hudson?
"Uncle Bruce? What are you doing here?" Jamie finished the sentence for Evily outside.
Uncle Bruce? He's Jamie's uncle?
Oh, how Evily wished the ground would swallow her whole. She could feel his legs turned to jelly.
"Am I not allowed to be here?" Bruce was amused at Evily's frightened look.
"No, no" Jamie chuckled. "Oh, this is my best friend, Evily. I see that you've already met her."
"Eve, this is my uncle Bruce Hudson" Jamie introduced. Evily pushed a thin smile before she lowered her head.
"Nothing. I was on a business trip and I bought you a gift."
"Thank you, Uncle Matt."
Bruce left after giving his niece the gift.

Evily had dinner with Jamie. After the meal, she went to use the bathroom while she waited in the parking.
When Bruce made his way to the parking, he knew at first glance that the person standing there was the stalker young lady.
Evily was looking at her phone when she inadvertently looked up and met Bruce's eyes.
Still clothed in a white shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a pair of suit pants that accentuated his tall and slender figure, he held his coat in one hand while putting the other in his pocket. He looked even more mature and suave. Evily's heart thumped, but the man looked away as though he didn't recognize her. But all of a sudden, a car exploded.
Bruce heard a loud explosion. The vehicle in front of him blew into pieces as a blazing flame rose to the sky.
It had all happened too fast for him to react. He stood frozen. He came back to sense when a small figure appeared out of nowhere and pulled Bruce.
The man realized that the lady who shielded him was Evily. He quickly scanned Evily from head to toe and asked, "Are you injured?"
"No. I'm fine." Evily shook her head.
Soon, Bruce got up from the ground and helped Evily. She stared at the man in front of her. Her brain was a little slow to process what was going on.
"Shall we call the police? What is happening?" She uttered.
"I will take care of it. Let's go to the hospital," Bruce said in a steady tone.
"I am fine." She collected herself and added, "Umm. I can promise you that I am not a stalker. It was a misunderstanding. Thank you for understanding. I wish you good health."
With that, Evily quickly turned on her heels and left. Bruce stared at her retreating and took out his phone.
Did she save him? But what's with the blessing?
Instantly Bruce's face hardened realising that it was his car that exploded.
"How is it?" inquired Jamie.
Evily was dumbfounded. This was the first time she had ever seen such an "apartment." It was huge, spanning a 120m², fully renovated and fully furnished living area. The view was fantastic, while the security was tight. The neighborhood was quiet. Is this even an apartment?
This is considered a mansion in D City!
"Yes, but I don't know if Mr. Nolen will accept my script." Evily sighed.
"The rent is only two thousand every month. Don't haggle the price lest my feelings get hurt." Jamie giggled.
Evily wanted to express her gratitude, but she wasn't talented enough to weep prettily. Flinging her arms around Jamie, she declared, "Ms. Hudson, my friend, you're a wealthy heiress! I'm lucky to be your friend! I'm afraid I can't repay you in this lifetime."
Jamie snorted. "You must repay my favour!"
"How? I'll do anything within my means. Oh, only my skills are for sale, not my body."
"No, I demand both! Come on, let's unpack. I'll make sure to sell you out tonight."
