Chapter 6

I was kinda at a loss for words. I mean, I understood what happened, but this also told me that the world I was sent to wasn't exactly like the game I was used to. It was obviously an enchanted ring, but the game didn't have items like that.

"Wait a second..."

I opened my menu, and when to my equipment tab. I looked at my equipment, and right underneath my armor, there was in fact a section underneath it labeled "Trinkets and Accessories."

I scratched the back of my neck.

"How the hell did I miss this?"

I didn't have anything to put in any of the slots, and to be completely honest, what the hell else were they going to do for me? Unless I found some items that made me immortal or something like that, I didn't really need any stat buffs. Still, it makes me wonder exactly what other things are different about this world as opposed to the game.

"Hey, excuse me, what the hell is going on??" A male voice said, and that snapped me back to the present, and back to the two people I had just rescued.

"Fuck. Right, sorry!" I replied as I made my way over to them.

I summoned a dagger that was way too ornate for what I was using it for, and knelt down beside the man. He was closest, and with quick cuts, I freed his arms and legs.

"You good?" I asked him.

"Uh, y-yes sir. Please, free my sister." He asked, and it was clear he was a little shake up.

I called it, brother and sister.

"Sure." I replied.

Before I left him, I focused on a spell I had, and used Heavenly Heal, the strongest healing spell from the game, and stood up once it was done. I left the befuddled man as I made my way over to his ridiculously pretty sister.

"Holy shit. The pain is gone. Every pain is gone." He said, then he stuck his finger in his mouth, and his eyes went wide, "The tooth I lost last week is back!"

I could only smirk as I knelt down beside the gorgeous woman, and she looked up at me with most vibrant and beautiful green eyes I'd ever seen in my life. I had two girlfriends throughout high school, somehow, and while they didn't last more than a few months at a time, I did learn somewhat how to behave around women, but neither of them were this cute.

Despite this, I didn't feel shy, nor did I feel awkward. I definitely would have back on Earth, but here, it's like a lot of my negative emotions were gone. I was even joking around and having more fun than I ever had before, and not once did I lapse into depression. Actually, now that I thought about it, that lingering feeling of constant sadness was just gone, like it was never there in the first place.

"How did you... what did you... who are you?" The woman asked, stumbling over her words.

I chuckled as I cut her bindings as well. Her reaction was as I expected, although I'm sure me still being covered in a lot of blood made them nervous. I stood up and used a spell I had to instantly clean the blood and grime off of my body, and then I held my hand out to her.

"Better? My name's Da..." I paused.

No, that's who I am anymore is it? New world, new start, new me.

"My name's Veksys, pleased to meet you."

She hesitated for a while, her eyes still wide. It was insanely cute. She looked at my hand, then at my face, and her face went crimson. Not as bright as her hair, but it was adorable.

Was I doing that to her? I made my character to look cool and handsome, a far cry from my actual and now old appearance, and I supposed it wasn't far off from the truth. To be honest, I was surprised I wasn't stuttering and trembling in this girl's vicinity, given my track record with being around attractive women was basically non existent. Currently, I was looking at the most beautiful creature I'd ever laid my eyes on, and my smile didn't falter even once.

"I...uh... I'm... Isabelle." She stammered, and I gave her a warm smile in return.

"Isabelle. Such a pretty name." I said, and when she turned even more red, I realized that I had said that outloud.

Her brother came up to us then, and looked at me incredulously.

"What the fuck was all that?" He asked, and I barked a laugh.

"You're welcome." I said, still chuckling.

Her brother also turned red, seemingly embarrassed, and coughed into his hand.

"I... no, we are grateful. Thank you. That was just... unreal. I'm Victor, by the way." He said, and held out his hand for me.

I took it, and we shook.

"Veksys. And to answer your question, I have a few tricks up my sleeves."

He raised an eyebrow.

"That... actually doesn't answer any of my questions. And, you're not wearing sleeves." He replied.

Nice. I like this guy already.

I was about respond, when soft whimpering drew all of our attention. The caged wolf sounded so incredibly sad, and he pawed at the cage to no avail. I instantly felt like shit, almost having completely forgot about the the little guy amongst all the chaos.

"You poor baby." Isabelle said, her voice soft.

"That 'baby' could bite your arm off." Victor said, which caused myself and Isabelle to glare at him.

He raised his hands in surrender.

"Or he's just a poor innocent baby who definitely won't do that." He said hurriedly.

I snorted. Besides, I sensed no danger from this little guy. It could be a girl too thought as I didn't really check. I just knelt down in from of cage and wirh a quick and fluid motion, I broke the cage door and tossed it off to the side in some bushes. The wolf backed up with its tail between its legs and whined.

"He's terrified." Isabelle said with sadness in her tone.

My mom had a dog when I was growing up. Her name was Darby, and she was a wonderful animal. I had experience persay, but definitely not with a creature like this. I held my hand out.

"Hey, it's okay. See? We won't hurt you." I said, but unfortunately that seemed to do little to quell the wolf's hesitation as he backed up even further.

Thankfully, the best way to any creature's heart was an easy solution, and if this didn't work, then nothing would. I opened my inventory, looked through my consumables, and found what I was looking for. I pulled a piece of raw boar meat out of my inventory, still as fresh and bloody as the day I looted it. I held it out, while whispering sweet and encouraging words to the little guy.

His nose lifted, and he sniffed the air. His senses homed him in on the meat in my hand, and slowly, he put one paw forward, and then another, and another. It took him a couple of minutes, of which I happily waited. If there was one thing I was annoyingly good at, it was patience.

I felt the moment when a small force connected, as his nose sniffed the meat, and then he took a testing lick. I couldn't help but smile as he opened his jaw, and bit into the meat. I didn't want it to fall on the ground and get covered in dirt, so I just held it there while he continued to chew and take little bits off at a time. I have a soft spot for cute things, and this was absolutely adorable.

"It's so precious." Isabelle said, and I could have sworn her pupils turned into hearts for a second there.

Victor said nothing, although he did smile, which led me to believe we were on the same page here.

Eventually, he had eaten the whole chunk of meat.

"Who's a good boy?" I cooed, and I really hoped it was a boy, otherwise I'd feel stupid.

I am not sure how, but it was as if my words got through to the wolf, because now its hesitation was gone, and he nudged my hand with his nose. I slowly rubbed my hand along his jaw, and eventually made my way up to his head. His fur was incredibly soft, and it was jet black, which made him look both cool and cute.

"AWWWW!" Isabelle squealed as she got on her kness next to us.

She reached out her hand as well, and he sniffed her hand, and then licked it. She was positively delighted as she began running her hands over his head and back, and his little tail was wagging happily as she did so.

"Today is weird." Victor muttered, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"That's one way to put it." I replied, still laughing.
