Preparing Food

Liu Xiaolan looked at Zou Xinhao's twitching face and almost laughed.

Usually, the only person from the Zou family that she contacts is Zou Xinghe, and after spending some time with him, she would comment and say that he's pretty much similar to a block of ice.

Not showing much emotions, usually keeping calm, and overall a pretty smart person. Probably that's also the reason why the Zou family left him in charge of taking care of their business contacts in the city.

But now looking at Elder Zou and his other son, Liu Xiaolan was amused. How is it that Zou Cheng and Zou Xinhao are a completely different type of person when compared to Zou Xinghe?

Well, perhaps it's because of the different responsibilities they have? After all, Zou Xinghe needs to come in contact with businessmen from Shenyang quite frequently, so even if he didn't want to, his original personality would have to change a little.

Otherwise, if he kept trying to sell their products to the city with his original attitude of a normal village person, the Zou family would probably run out of business a long time ago...

"Thank you, Elder Zou." Liu Xiaolan said with a smile on her face. "But I don't really know much about animals, it's still better if I just come and see if there's something good next time…"

Liu Xiaolan talked for a little longer with Elder Zou before deciding to go back.

After all, now that she has got her hands on some meat, she still needs to prepare it. What if her little fool couldn't sell anything in the city and decided to come back sooner? Wouldn't she be forced again to eat that dark thing that he cooked?

Just thinking about the burnt taste, Liu Xiaolan shivered. That stupid fool, he even forced her to eat the whole thing. Even when she wanted to share the thing that he made with him, he kept saying that she's injured and that he won't eat her food.

Not only that, but when she took a few bites and said that she's full, the little fool kept looking at her with a smile that said, 'Lady should eat all of her food, otherwise lady shouldn't go away from the table…'

Well, it's not like she has a table, but the meaning of her little fool was clear.

After forcing herself to eat the whole dish, Liu Xiaolan almost cried. If she had to go through all of it again today, she'd rather starve. It's still better than eating the things that Mu Yuchen cooked.

Thinking of this, Liu Xiaolan increased her speed and run back to her home. The sooner she gets the food done, the better. She might not be hungry yet, but if she prepares the food, she can just instruct the little fool on how to cook it.

It might not end up as well as if she finished the whole dish herself, but at least she can make sure that it will be edible this way.

Liu Xiaolan rushed into her home and started her preparation. Getting rid of all the skin, deboning the meat so that it's easier to fry, and at the same time keeping all bones and other useful parts of hares that can be used for soup.

Liu Xiaolan looked at the hares in front of her and smiled. She has truly thought it out this time, even if her little fool manages to mess up the meat, at least she can still eat some nice soup.

Thinking of this, Liu Xiaolan decided that she might as well start cooking the soup now. After all, she doesn't have many spices to enhance the taste of the soup, so it would take hours to cook a good brine just from the bones.

After bringing back some water from the river, Liu Xiaolan added all the left over bones and some meat from the hares, some salt and leeks and let it boil.

If everything turns out nice, once her little fool comes home, all she needs to do is to have Mu Yuchen cook some rice and they could have a good dinner, not even mentioning the rest of the meat from the hares.

Just thinking of this, Liu Xiaolan almost had some saliva flowing out of her mouth. For the first time in days, she can finally eat some good food!

Liu Xiaolan happily hummed a few notes while stirring her soup, unaware of the fact that her previous concerns were turning true.

While Mu Yuchen didn't decide to come back earlier because he couldn't sell anything, he was still coming back sooner than planned. After all, once he has sold all of the chestnuts, there's no point in staying in the city any longer.

For Mu Yuchen, it's better to quickly run back to their village and take care of his injured lady. Otherwise, if his lady would hurt herself more while he's not there, how could he forgive himself?

So, while Liu Xiaolan was still unaware of her incoming doom, the happy little fool was already coming close to the territory belonging to Liuojia Village, and it wouldn't take him long to get back home...
