Listen to the Beat of My Heart

After experiencing heartache for his runaway bride, whom he dearly loved, Jalil Chris Aversin, the sole grandson and heir of one of the influential richest families, was now facing the crisis of making his grandparents happy and fulfilling their only request, which was to see their grandson be married to a lovely wife and create his own family before he turns 30. With a heavy heart, Jalil directed his trusted private lawyer to look for someone who could be his wife and who was trustworthy and respectful.  On the other hand, Eliza Martinez, a 24-year-old woman who was living her best, peaceful, and simple life, got a call from her lawyer friend. She was told to sign a marriage contract with someone whose supposed wife ran away the day before their marriage. At first, she refused the offer since she was still unready to enter the marriage life, but because of her friend's persistence, not to mention that her monthly salary as a wife will be millions, Eliza accepted the offer. The marriage agreement, including the rules and remuneration, was settled between Eliza and Jalil. However, their marriage life was a complete disaster as their personalities clashed. Despite their disagreements, Jalil couldn't end the contract as his grandparents became fond of Eliza.  Now, will they learn to adjust to each other and get along? Where will their contract lead them? What if the runaway bride comes back and reveals the long-forgotten secrecy of the Aversin family?

'Dress Up'

Friday, at exactly 8:00 am, Atty. Vasquez stopped in front of Eliza's house. He halted as he saw her wearing a pair of black leggings and a plain white, loose t-shirt.

"What?" Eliza asked, staring at him.

"You're wearing that?" Atty. Vasquez asked as politely as he could to avoid misunderstandings.

Eliza just nodded. "Wait. Did you have amnesia or something? You know my style, Lor."

"I know. I mean, you're going to meet a client. I don't think it's formal to wear that.". Vasquez said, which made Eliza conscious of her outfit.

"You're right. But I don't have any formal clothes. My dresses are quite revealing to be formal," Eliza scratched her head.

Atty. Vasquez just let out a faint sigh and opened the car door to the passenger seat. "We still have time to buy some clothes."

"Uh. Let me just remind you, my dear best friend." Eliza pulled out a small wallet from her pocket and showed it to Atty. Vasquez. "I'm penniless."

Atty. Vasquez chuckled at his friend's expression, then went to her back and gently pushed her towards his car. "I know. I know. I'll pay. Just get inside."

After she entered his car, they went to the nearest mall and directly went to ladies' wear.

Vasquez took six formal dresses in different shades of yellow. Eliza grimaced when she saw the dresses. "I'll look like shit if I wear that."

"Of course not. You look good in yellow," Vasquez replied, putting the dresses on the bench near the fitting room.

"You know I hate yellow," Eliza protested. But Vasquez didn't listen and still continued to select which one she would fit first.

"You will look lighter in yellow. I noticed that before," Vasquez said, picking up the simple glittery off-shoulder dress for Eliza. "Try this first."

"Can I just wear black or grey? Or white?" Eliza asked with a long face, refusing to take the dress.

"God! You're always in monochrome. Try something else. Believe my eyes. Go on! Change!" Vasquez said, forcing her to enter the fitting room with the dress.

A few minutes later, Eliza went out of the fitting room with an unexplainable expression on her face. "I don't like it."

"But you look good! I swear!" Vasquez insisted.

Eliza just crossed her arms and raised her left brow. "Lor, are you making fun of me?"

"No. I'm just giving you the right color for your fair complexion." Vasquez let out a faint sigh, looking at Eliza's long face. "Okay. What about Pink?"

Eliza happily nodded. "That's fine for me! Just anything but yellow."

Vasquez rolled his eyes and started picking dresses in different shades of pink. He got four dresses and gave them all to Eliza. "Fit them all, then come out with the one you like."

Eliza went inside the fitting room. It took her a couple minutes before she went out and showed the dress she chose.

"What do you think?" She asked as she opened the door of the fitting room.

It was a simple but elegant long-sleeve, off-shoulder baby pink dress made of silk fabric.

"Turn around," Atty. Vasquez said, then he nodded, showing satisfaction as he scanned Eliza from head to toe. "Let's go to footwear."
