Linked

Is it me... or is the whole "destiny" thing played out? Because I feel like we should be able to write our own destiny. Nothing should be set in stone... at least not in life. Apparently though I have a destiny and so does this random girl I just met. This isn't any ordinary destiny though. This is something bigger than anything I could've imagined. Like fate of the world resting on our shoulders big. And to top off the ice cream sundae with a cherry we only have one day to fullfil our destiny. Dramatic enough yet??? Well I'm just getting started. My name is Jason Fray... and I'm Linked.

Detour

After that flash of light we were back in our mom's room. Our mom had then let go of us and laid back in her bed exhausted. She was back to her self. "How long were we in there?" I asked. Jocelyn walked up beside me and said, "Only a couple minutes." I looked at her and scrunched up my face. "That's impossible... it felt like a hour in there." She proceeded to pull out her phone and show me. It read 9:23 A.M. "We went in at about 9:20," she said. So it really was only a couple minutes. "Time inside of a person's mind moves faster than it does outside, but it only does this when you're awake... so It's basically the opposite of dreaming when you're asleep. Your gears are turning when you're awake... therefore so does time," our mom explained. I can't stress the fact that this was so much to handle but... it felt so right. Like this is supposed to be happening. "So what now?" Jocelyn asked. "You have to find your father. My job was to explain things to you. His job is to show you how to use what I explained," she said. Jocelyn looked at me and then back at our mom. "Mom... is that the only way?" she asked. Our mom gave her a saddened look and said, "I'm afraid so dear. It has to be done this way." Jocelyn sighed and proceeded to walk out the room. I began to follow her but I was called back in to the room. "Jason... please be patient with your sister. She has a slight distaste for your father because he left me when you two were born," she said. I looked at her and then at her breathing machine. "If you don't mind me asking... why did he leave?" I asked. "We had a disagreement about something... very important. He couldn't bare it so he left," she said. "Does it have to do with why you're like this?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled. "No... it was pushing out your big heads that caused this." I looked at her and stared in shock. "Really?" I asked. "Yeah... it was already hard pushing out 2 babies but try pushing out ones with powers and alot of life force energy. It takes the life from your body," she said. At that moment... I felt guilty. "Oh don't feel that way honey. It's not your fault," she said. She read my mind. I looked up at her and smiled a bit. "You know that's really annoying right?" I said. She gave me a big smile back. "Yeah but it never gets old." She's right about that. That'll probably always be awesome. At that moment Jocelyn walked back in the room. "What's taking you so long? We got to go remember!?" She seemed a little bit irritated. I stood up and took one last look at what was apparently my real mother. She looked up at me and whispered... "Good Luck." I nodded my head and walked out the room. I didn't know what was ahead... but we were charging towards it... head first. I proceeded to follow Jocelyn out the door and into the hallway. "You must already know where he is," I said. She nodded but kept walking without saying anything. Once she reached the stairs she went up instead of down. "Woah wait. Where are you going?" I asked. She turned around and looked at me with no expression. "Well we certainly can't teleport there from the street can we? Somebody might see us," she said sarcastically. That's when I heard her thoughts. "Gosh why did it have to be him? I would have gone to see anybody but him," she said in her head. She must've really took it hard knowing he left. We started walking up the stairs until we reached the roof. It was only about 2 more flights up. Once we got to the roof she looked at me and told me to stand still. I stood at the center of the roof with her right in front of me. She took a couple breaths and then asked me if I was ready. "As I'll ever be," I said. She then reached out and grabbed my shoulder and as she did pink electricity circled us just like before except... this time I could hear a voice. It wasn't like the voices we normally hear though. This one felt specific. "What you say?" Jocelyn asked. I looked up at her and shook my head. "I didn't say anything." That's when I heard it again. It was like a small voice saying "help me" in the back of my head. "Stop messing with me Jason!" she said. "Jocelyn... that's not me I swear!" All of a sudden I could see a place in the back of my head and somehow... I knew exactly where it was. It was in Brazil near some abandoned outdoor market. I already knew what was about to happen next. If I could feel it and see it... then I bet she could. We were about to teleport there. A couple seconds later... my fortune came to fruition. We had teleported to this market. If it wasn't for the circumstance my first initial reaction would have been to take off my jacket. It was really hot. Jocelyn looked at me and then at the place we were at. "I don't understand," she said. "I didn't mean to... why did we..." She sounded really confused. "You didn't mean to teleport here did you?" I asked. She shook her head. I looked around at all the abandoned market stands. "I think we were drawn here somehow," I said. "Did you hear it too?" She asked. "Yeah." I said. Someone here needs help. But who? It looked like there was no one here. That's when a girl our age ran out from behind some curtains and came right to us. She was short with long hair and messed up clothes. There were rips, cuts, and bruises all over her. "Please you have to help me, please!" she yelled. "What's wrong?" I asked. She was panting and tired. "He took him! He took my friend!" she said. I looked around. There was no one in sight. "Who?" Jocelyn asked. At that very moment I heard electricity crackle behind me. The girl then proceeded to look behind us in shock as she pointed in the same direction. "HIM," she said. Me and Jocelyn turned around to see a man in a white dress shirt and black dress pants just standing there with electricity in his hands. He looked at us and then at the girl. "I see you brought some friends," he said. He proceeded to lift his hand up and launch a lightning bolt into Jocelyn's chest which sent her flying. "As you can see though... playtime is over."
