Nakiri Tenma drifted into a deep sleep. He dreamed about many things, most related to the Otsutsuki Clan.

Several pale arms reached for him, trying to drag him into the abyss.

However, Tenma knew these pale arms weren't real.

"Fuck off!" His cold voice echoed in the dream.

Then, Tenma heard a soothing hum.

"Pain, pain, go away~!"

"Sleepy, sleepy, sleepy night~!"

Tenma slowly opened his eyes and saw a familiar wooden ceiling he had been seeing for five years. A fireplace burned warmly nearby, giving him a sense of home.

"Kaa-chan?" His weak voice awakened Tamako.

Tamako frantically walked to Tenma's futon and looked like she was about to cry. "Thank god, you're fine."

"Thank god..."

"Tenma, why are you so reckless..."

"Kaa-chan was afraid. You should have run."

"Mm, no! I will protect you, Kaa-chan!" Tenma replied with a determined look. If Tamako hadn't taken him from the river that day, Tenma wouldn't have survived his first few days in this Demon Slayer World.

She's not just his adopted mother.

She's also his savior!

Tenma raised his nose proudly and promised, "Just watch. I will grow big and let you see the sea!"

Kawami is a rural village in Japan.

Tamako realized Tenma was too quiet and hurriedly released him from her hug. "Ah, sorry. Kaa-chan, forget you broke your arms from fighting the demon monkey."

She checked Tenma's arm before sighing and bringing him medicine in a bowl. It was a brown liquid with a heavy medicinal aroma.

"What is this, Kaa-chan?" Tenma couldn't help but ask.

Tamako recounted her story after he fainted earlier. A kind young lady in the Demon Slayer Corps uniform appeared and gave her medicine.

She said it would heal one's body quickly.

'This... Aren't you afraid it was poison?' Tenma gave his adopted mother a hopeless look. She's a bit naive.

Thankfully, the brown liquid is genuine medicine.

"Hurry, drink the medicine. The young lady said one drink is enough for one week's recovery."

"Oh, okay?" Tenma drank the medicine and tasted the bitterness.
