Road to heaven

After Nate was not able to hear anything his family saying he figured out that it was his last moment then all suddenly darkness creep in to surround him bit by bit, after a few seconds of that happening he felt different, like when he was at his twenty's full of life and strength and there was kind of annoying light that went through his eyelids, he tried to open them slowly and he was surprised by what he saw, space where he is alone he tried to stand but he was unsuccessful in the first few times finally he was able to do it, but he was not able to work normally so in a slow manner he walked to figure out where he was.

Someone was watching what Nate was doing and writing everything that he was doing on a note.

After a few minutes of Nate walking around the place that Nate found himself in his legs just gave out and he could not move anymore sp he started to yell 'is there anyone in here' there was no response so he sat there to think about what he should do next, while he was doing that suddenly a figure appeared in front of him.

The figure looked at the notes that he has and then he looked at Nate and said 'name is Nate Nirdwick age seventy-five he was a good parent and great grandparents, white male, brown hair, and green eyes, in all he is a good person except with few instances when he would be able to help someone but choose not to do anything instead' the figure stopped reading and looked at Nate 'this is weird usually people your age are religious type so why you are not'.

Nate was surprised by all information that the person in front of him knows about Nate and because of that Nate did not even hear the question that figure asked him instead he asked 'who are and how do you know all that stuff about me'

The figure sighed and mumbled something then went near Nate that was setting on the ground and with one hand he pulled him up and said 'you do not ask questions only me ask do you understand move your head if you understand' Nate got scared when the figure was able to lift with one hand since Nate was 1.6 meters and that person that was able to lift him was about the same height as him and also Nate was not a skinny person that anyone could do something like this so he figured out what was in front of him was not normal.

the figure saw that Nate was scared of him so he smiled and let him go and he said 'stand up right now' and so Nate did what the figure ask from him and so he continued 'since you know your place I will answer your question, the first one who I am you do not need to know that but I think you figured that I am normal person right' Nate nod his head as fast as possible in the agreement of what he said 'and for why I know that stuff let me ask what the last thing you were doing before you came here'

'Well I was dying but by some miracle here I am alive'

The figure laughed and said 'do you really think that you were able to survive cancer after you stopped the treatment' the figured lean into Nate's ear and whispered 'let me tell you this you are dead'

Nate freaked out by this and backed out from him 'what do you mean that I am dead'

the expression on the figure changed and now it looked like he was bored like he had this conversation multiple times so he snapped his fingers and the screen appeared in front of Nate and is shown Nate's family in some graveyard crying in front of some tombstone and the figure make it close enough so Nate would be able to read what was written on it and it was his name.

After he saw that he looked at the figured and said 'what is that'

'well it is what you see' the figure pointed at the tombstone 'this is your grave' then he smirked 'from what I know you just give up and you did not want to trouble your family anymore but now you do not believe that you are dead why is that'

'but I do not know' Nate was struggling with what he should say

'It does not matter anymore and you should not think more about it you should only know that you are dead' the figure sighed since he knows that no matter what he said Nate would not believe it so he put his hand in front of Nate and Nate was surprised by that and he wanted to say something but then a mirror appeared in front of him and so the figured said 'take look at yourself then maybe then you will figure it out'

Nate took the mirror and look at it to make sure it was a normal one and from the look of it, it seems to appear like a normal one so he looked at his reflection and when he saw from the shook he dropped the mirror and it shattered to pieces when it hit the ground and Nate said after he saw his reflection 'what with this mirror'

'what do you mean it is a normal one which you would see your reflection' then went and took the mirror and waved his hand on it and returned to normal then he went near Nate and let him see his reflection and it was like what Nate saw and that made Nate more surprised and he pushed him and started to run away.

after Nate ran away the figure said 'ok this is a first, I did not think that he would do something like that' then he looked at notes that he had and then he put them aside.

Nate ran as fast as he possibly can while thinking "there is no way this is real there is something logical that would explain all of this" while he was focusing on thinking, he did not saw what he was running from just appeared in front of him and he crashed into him and he collapsed on the floor.

he said 'I really do not want to do this all over again and I just want to rest so let me tell you this, you are dead you did some horrible stuff but that would not get you hell but there is another problem and that is you do not believe in any religion and people like you used to put the people up there in a difficult position'

Nate said 'what are you talking about'

'well since you are dead I think you anyone alive know what happen that dies either you go to heaven or hell but since you do not believe in any religion it would be hard to judge without angering some people'

'wait a minute do you mean that God can't do what he wants'

'they if you want to refer to god'

'What?'

'Like I said if you to refer to god it would be better for you to say they that how they wanted but if you wanted to punished then refer to them as you want'

Nate was taken by surprised by what the person in front of him said but that was not what is important right now 'ok so you said that God can't do what they want'

'they can do what they want because they are God but God does not be tyrannical, and from time to time they would something that would appease their people'

Nate was still surprised but right now he kind of accepted that he is dead 'ok so does this mean that you are an angel'

The figure laughed when he heard that and said 'in what way do I look like that I am one of those idiots that can't do anything unless their dear God tells them to do'

Nate looked carefully at the person in front and he figured out that there is no way that he is an angel or anything that resembles them he looked like a normal human being but he gives a strange aura that frightens Nate.

'so I think that you know what I am since I am not like you or an angel'.

'wait does this mean that you are a demon' Nate said while backing away.

'yes but you do not need to be afraid of me right now I can't do anything to you' when Nate heard that he remembered what he did to him the first time they meet so he was not convinced by what he said

the demon said 'I should not waste so much time explaining this to you and since I do not have the time I just will say it and you can do whatever you want, atheists like you at first it was not hard to judge you since you were a minority and no one would know you but recently that was not the case a lot of people became like you and you become a large number and if God judges you like religious people they would not like that since you know they have a stick up their asses and want to everyone to suffer like them well most of them, so God created a program that gives people like you a chance of redemption of course if you do not partake you can do it the choice is all yours'

'wait a minute this is too much to me just to make decisions like this'

'really I did not know that this decision is hard to make if you say yes there is a chance that you would go to heaven and if you said no to this then you will go to hell and I do not know what you know about it but it is a place that you do not want to even to get near it so I thought that it easy decision to make'

'but can't you give some time to think about it'

'I am sorry I really can't and I am short on time so will you give me your answer or should I do it for you and for your information it would be better for me for you to choose not to partake in this'

Nate worried because he does not make a good decision under pressure and so on the moment of packing he said 'ok I will do it'

The demon said 'I assure you you will not regret it at all'
