So this is what family is all about?

"You see me?" Blair scoffs, "what are you even talking about?"

He opens his mouth to respond but was interrupted by Cara, "what are you two doing standing so close?"

He releases Blair and stepped aside, "just checking something. I'm done!"

Shooting her an unreadable glance, Damien strolls out of the room.

Blair had conflicted emotions watching his retreating figure, she feels there's something he's hiding from her, whatever that might be, she does not give a fleeting care. What she needs is to figure out how to destroy the stone and get her powers back.

She turn to face Cara, "do you need something?"

"What I need is… you!" Cara giggled, reaching for Blair's arm, "though it's nothing to be excited about, I am finally invited back home."

"Wait, does that mean your parents have forgiven you?" Blair questioned curiously

"No, they are just putting on a show for the public!" Cara responded in a dismissive tone.

Blair nods, "well how does it feel to be the princess of an underwater kingdom?"

Cara paused to think, chuckled to a memorable thought, and faces Blair with a smile, "Honestly, it is out of this world, and yet it feels superficial. And we no longer live underwater, we are out on the surface and are enjoying our freedom… which is why YOU are going to be my company!"

Blair gasps, "what? No! I'm not interested in meeting a bunch of royal sirens!"

"That is very rude of you, and I'm not asking!"

Without awaiting Blair's response, Cara literally dragged her with. They took a ride, and after a one and a half hour drive, they finally arrived at Oceania, that is where Cara's parents' mansion is at, and it also is a community for sirens.

The mansion is massive, and several buildings tall. When Blair looked up to see how tall it is, her hair tumbled further down her back.

She shook her head in astonishment, "wow, this is what a royal palace looks like!"

Cara waved dismissively, "it's not a palace, but my parents love showing off, but don't worry, they won't care a shit about your presence!"

"What? Then why am I here?" Blair asked surprisingly.

Cara wraps her hand around Blair's arm, "you are here to be my emotional anchor so I don't blast off and insult the shit out of their scales! Let's go!"

Despite her money, fame, and power, Blair have never been to a palace or any place that is of honor. To the world she is merely a trash that needs to be disposed off.

They arrive at the entrance, Cara knocked and are let in by a guard. When the doors shut behind them, it felt like a call from the grim reaper.

The maids welcomed and greeted them, then ushered them to the dining area on the second floor.

In the room, seated on the dining, is a man in his sixties with a blonde hair that he wears in a bun. He is in a delicious black suit and has glasses on.

When he heard the sound of Cara and Blair stepping in, he slide his glasses down to his nose, glanced over and surveyed Cara, then pulled them back up and continued reading the book in his hands.

The female beside him is a beautiful melanin lady, she have this charismatic aura radiating around her. She sips her coffee with her pinky erected like a typical royal lady and placed it on the table without making a single sound.

To Blair, these people seemed interesting. So this is how royal people live? She thought to herself.

"Have a sit!" The woman spoke in a solid tone, taking a quick glance at Cara.

"Morning my king, and my queen!" Cara nodded, settling on the chair across the woman.

Blair also settled next to Cara.

"How have you been?" The man said without looking up at her.

"I'm fine, I'm alive!" Cara responded.

The air is stiff and stark full with tension, one could almost taste its saltiness.

"Good, means you can come back home. It is time you stop playing and finally take your place as the princess and the future leader of our kind!" He made it sound like a request but his body language exuded authority.

Cara scoffs, shaking her head in revolt, "I'm not one minute around you and you are already trying to shape out my life! Playing about? How can you even say that despite knowing what I've been through?"

Her mother cuts in, "what you have been through is merely the consequence of your actions to stray from your responsibilities and succumb to something as weak as love!"

Cara chuckles in disbelief, "who am I kidding? For a second I almost forgot who you are! I almost got excited to see you again!"

She sniffed taking a glance at her mother, "love is not weak mother, it made me strong, it made me beautiful, it made me happy!"

"And now you are miserable!" Her father said almost yelling, "you married a rogue dog, what did you get out of it?"

Cara scoffs.

Her father continue, "let me answer that for you. You have lost your parents, you lost your privilege and honor, his people do not even consider you one as them, and now he is gone too. So you have nothing Cara! All you have is us. And if you want us back then you must abide by the rules we set!"

"I am not willing to trade my soul just to please you!" Cara screamed, panting heavily and seething with rage, "I did not leave just to come back and be controlled again. And I do not need you!"

She stands with rage, "I thought after all these years we can actually eat together and reminisce about the past like a normal family, but it seems like always, I am wrong about you!"

With those words, she stormed out of the room, closing the door with a loud 'bang'

The king gave out a heavy sigh, shook his head, and returned to what he was doing.

The queen on the other hand, chuckled, but there was flakes of sorrow within her laugh and could be seen vividly reflecting in her eyes.

Blair who'd sat quietly and watched as the drama unfolds, finally reacted. She laughed and stood up, "so this is what a family is all about? Insulting, judging, and hurting each other with words that will later consume you in regrets? It's funny they say blood is thicker than water, cause after seeing this mess, I am more than glad I have no parents and no family!"

With those words, Blair also left while Cara's parents watched her in shock.

They growled in unison, "and who the fuck is that?"
