The raging highland

The ride to the Raging Highlands was a little troublesome. Crossing the lrrilan forest was difficult because of its unpredictable terrain and monster attacks. But somehow I managed to get by without passing any one from my territory soldiers that I have assigned to guard this forest. I had to avoid the safe trail routes for the same reason.

The forest was covered in dark gray fog and this fog originates from the boiling waters from the surging abyss. The underground volcanoes make this phenomenon possible. The fog makes it harder to navigate. And in the night it was also filled with monsters. It was the crack of dawn when I exited the forest and entered the Raging highland borders.

As I entered the highland the forest went dead silent. Even the sound of insects or wind moving the trees could not be heard.  The predators were near and read to hunt. I got my horse to move on the trail made in the forest by the werewolf. The dipper I went in the more silent it got.

Rustle....

My senses got sharper as I felt the presence who were only observing me are now actively showing their presence. I reached deep enough to see the bottom of the main mountain in the highlands. Now the movement grew larger and faster.

Rustle...Rustle...

I felt the presence surrounding me and I saw different colored eyes shine towards me. They emitted very defensive and protective gazes indicating that they were ready to pounce on me to protect this highlands. The sun's rays that were shallow here made it a little easier to see around as different colored fur ripped out between the forest trees and bushes.

"Show yourself. I am not here to harm you. I am Duke Kaan Mabuz from the Ravial kingdom. I need to talk to your leader Reed."

The werewolves hesitated and decided to show themselves after some of them changed into their humanoid form.

"Why do you need our pack leader?" A man with brown hair and red eyes asked. He was of standard build and was only wearing pants.

"I sent someone with a letter for him. He should know what this is about."

"Are you the master of that dusty yellow hair idiot?"

"Yes, that's Leo, one of my close men."

"Sorry but we can't let you meet the leader. He is not in the right state of mind to have visitors. As for the letter I have delivered to the leader. If he wants to meet you he will contact you later. "

'Hmmm, so they took the letter from Leo and sent him away. This will be difficult if they deny my entry.' My face deteriorated.

"Just let me through I am a friend of Reed." I tried to explain calmly.

"We can't let you through. Go before we lose our patience."

My frown grew "Let me pass, before I have to pave my way through. Or it's fine I can stand here and you can call Reed over. The matter can be solved easily."

Gerrr.... The wolves bared their fangs towards me. They went into defense mode. My horse got restless so I jumped down and patted it. I moved my eyes around me toward the wolves and opened my mouth. "This, I didn't want to harm my allies. But If my guard dogs don't listen then I have to use some measures to make them obey."

I relaxed my face making it serious and my aura spread around me. My eyes lightened just a little. The wolves resisted with fear and confused faces. Some even shivered and backed a little. The brown hair man also felt some pressure and his body caved a little.

My presence steadily speared towards the forest.

'Reed should know I am here.'

The groans and voices I hear pleased me a little.

Rustle...crunch.... Some one came forward even with my aura spread around. A flash of radish hair and blue eyes came into view.

"Magic flows through these ancient woods, and with each step, our destiny unfolds. My lord, I greet you." The man I was searching for finally showed himself.

This werewolf who likes to say stuff like an old man greeted me with a bow. I released my aura and freed the poor wolf who retreated after their leader showed up.

Reed raised his head and our eyes met. I put a refreshed smile, similar to meeting an old friend after a long time and said "Took you long enough. How have you been Reed?"

He also smiled and replied "By the blessing of the shimmering moonlight, we all are completely fine."

With a wave of his hand the wolves left the area.

"I got your letter my lord."

"Before the letter, you didn't seem surprised at all seeing me alive."

"The moon's pull is relentless my lord and the power given to me is also."

Reed Pax, the leader of the werewolves and a philosophy fanatic, has an ability like no other. His great sense of smell. All werewolves were good at that but Reed's exceeds normal standards.

'He recognized my smell.'  I answered the question myself.

"Before we talk my lord let's enter the base."

The base or we can say the hidden village residing in the raging highlands. The den of the werewolves and the safest place for me right now.

I simply nodded. I held on to the rails of my horse as I got ready to walk but before I took a step Reed put his hands on my waist and picked me up. He sat me on the horse and took the rail from me while I was still flabbergasted by his actions.

"What do you think you are doing?" I managed to say through my shocked state.

"Under this moon that I serve, I just can't let you My lord, walk." he smiled and calmly explained as we started walking towards the hidden village.

'Reed is Reed. but I am getting an iffy feeling about this.
