A Body for Micasa

Chapter 4) Trip to Diagon Alley and constructing a body for Micasa.

We had to travel the mundane way to reach Leaky Cauldron, as we couldn't use Hagrid's enchanted motorcycle which was originally Sirius's because it would attract a lot of unwanted attention and also we could be in trouble for breaking the international Statute of Secrecy. In the subway, Hagrid's giant stature attracted a lot of people's gaze. He was uncomfortable sitting on small seats, while riding the train. He also complained about how could a non-magical manage without magic.

It took about half an hour to reach Charing Cross Road where Leaky Cauldron was located. It was in between a bookstore and a music shop. It looked really rundown pub from the outside. Non-magicals who passed by the pub didn't notice it probably because of all the concealment charms used just to hide the place from the non-magicals.

"This is it - the Leaky Cauldron. Its a famous place." Hagrid said as he led me through the old wooden door. We arrived at a small pub. It was dingy and a bit dirty but at the same time welcoming. At the corner few older women were drinking in small cups. Some were smoking. The bartender was talking to a black robed man. The chatter in the pub quieted down for a moment. Everyone here seemed to know Hagrid. They greeted him warmly.

"The usual, Hagrid?" The old bartender inquired.

"Not today, Tom, I'm Hogwarts business." He said patting my shoulder with his large hand.

"New student -" He paused and came a little closer to get a good look, his eyes fell on the scar on my forehead, "Good lord, is he - can he be - ?

The whole pub had suddenly gone silent.

"Bless my soul," whispered the bartender, "Harry Potter... what an honour."

He hurried from behind the bar and rushed toward me. He had tears in his eyes.

"Welcome back, Mr. Potter, Welcome back."

Suddenly I had a deza-vu. In the "Harry Potter" movie, there was a similar scene, just the people were different.

All the other people rushed toward me, introducing themselves and trying to shake my hands. All the misplaced praise were getting on nerves.

"Thank you but you shouldn't praise me that much," I said, raising my voice a little, the people quieted down a little, "you see, I was just a toddler when the incident happened, which I don't even remember. It was probably my parents who did something that kept me safe while killing Vol - sorry, you-know-who."

The people in the pub grasped in horror at the mention of Voldemort.

"It could have been better, if my parents were alive." I added. I sounded bitter. It was genuine. There was an awkward silence among the listener.

Well, it was true. If Harry's parents were alive, Harry's childhood wouldn't have been terrible and he wouldn't die so early. At the same time, it gave me new lease at life. I was going to make the best out of it.

"Well Harry, we are getting late. Lets go." Hagrid said as he led me to a brick wall.

"Three up... two across..." He muttered, "Right! Stand back, Harry."

He then tapped the wall three times.

The brick he touched quivered. Then it collapsed inwardly leaving a small hole which grew wider and wider every moment until an archway appeared. It was bigger than even Hagrid.

"Welcome," Hagrid said, "to Diagon Alley."

I was really impressed by the sight. It was epic. I was quite overwhelmed by the dense mana in the air. It was as if I was suddenly splashed by a bucket of water. It took about a minute to get my magic sense (mind's eye) under control.

There were lots of shops I recognised. Like the ones that had sign saying, Cauldrons - All Sizes - Copper, Brass, Pewter, Silver -

Self-Stirring - Collapsible, Slug and Jiggers Apothecary, that sold potions, the famous bookstore, Flourish Blotts, Eeylops Owl Emporium and so on.

"Gringotts." Hagrid said.

We reached a snowy white building. It was quite tall, towering over the other shops. Beside its burnished bronze door, was standing a Goblin. He looked like human except for his swarthy, clever face and pointed beard. He also had long fingers and feet

"Goblins." He said quietly. Hagrid didn't know that I recognized them. To Hagrid, I am completely ignorant of magical world. Well - it was better that way. The more time Dumbledore remained in dark, the better.

After passing through the bronze door, we came across a second pair of doors, made of silver. There were words in gold, engraved upon them:

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

"Like I said, you would be mad to try to rob it." He reminded me.

A pair of goblins bowed them through the silver doors and they were in a vast marble hall. About a hundred more goblins were sitting on high stools behind a long counter, scribbling in large ledgers, weighing coins in brass scales, examining precious stones through eyeglasses. There were too many doors to count leading off the hall, and yet more goblins were showing people in and out of these. Hagrid and Harry made for the counter.

"Morning," said Hagrid to a free goblin. "We've come ter take some money out of Mr. Harry Potter's safe."

"You have his key, sir?"

"Got it here somewhere," said Hagrid, and he started emptying his pockets onto the counter, scattering a handful of mouldy dog biscuits over the goblin's book of numbers. The goblin wrinkled his nose. Harry watched the goblin on their right weighing a pile of rubies as big as glowing coals.

"Got it," said Hagrid at last, holding up a tiny golden key.

The goblin looked at it closely.

"That seems to be in order."

"And I've also got a letter here from Professor Dumbledore," said Hagrid importantly, throwing out his chest. "It's about the You-Know-What in vault seven hundred and thirteen."

The goblin read the letter carefully.

"Very well," he said, handing it back to Hagrid, "I will have someone take you down to both vaults. Griphook!"

Griphook was yet another goblin. Once Hagrid had crammed all the dog biscuits back inside his pockets, he and Harry followed Griphook toward one of the doors leading off the hall.

I knew Dumbledore had asked Hagrid to retrieve the philosopher stone. But why would he ask Hagrid to retrieve instead of getting it himself? And also in the same day when Hagrid introducing the magical world to me and also buying my school supplies, why?

After thinking hard for a few seconds, I realized, he must've wanted to make me curious about the vault's content.

What a clever ploy!

But it's unfortunate for him that I'm not some ignorant kid but an adult with foreknowledge. I already knew about the philosopher's stone.

After few minutes of travelling, the cart stopped beside a small door in the passage wall.

Griphook (the goblin) inserted the key and unlocked the door, green smoke bellowing out. I gasped. I was genuinely shocked at the sight. Who wouldn't? It was literally a mountain of gold coins.

"All yours." Hagrid said.

The gold ones are Galleons," he explained. "Seventeen silver Sickles to a Galleon and twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle, it's easy enough."

"What is the maximum amount, one can withdraw in a year, Mr. Griphook?" I asked.

"Its 1500 Galleons." Griphook replied sharply.

"Well Hagrid - Why don't you do wait outside for few seconds." I suggested, "I will see, if there any photos of my parents lying around." I obviously lied. I was going to take more than required Galleons with me. I wanted to take more but I didn't have big enough or a magical pouch that could hold more coins.

"Okay, then." He hesitantly agreed.

I placed about five handful of coins in my bag, around 250 Galleons.

Griphook eyed me sharply but didn't say anything.

"Now the vault seven hundred and thirteen, can we go more slowly." Hagrid said in a bit of pleading voice.

"One speed only." Griphook replied indifferently.

We were going even deeper now and gathering speed. The air became colder and colder as they hurtled round tight corners. They went rattling over an underground ravine. The cart stopped abruptly. We had reached our destination.

Vault seven hundred and thirteen had no keyhole.

"Stand back," said Griphook importantly. He stroked the door gently with one of his long fingers and it simply melted away.

"If anyone but a Gringotts goblin tried that, they'd be sucked through the door and trapped in there," said Griphook.

"How often do you check to see if anyone's inside?" I asked, checking if he replied similarly as shown in the movie.

"About once every ten years," said Griphook with a toothy grin. He looked typically villainous.

I stood outside the bank. It was quite nice to be out in the sun after a cold ride underground.

Hagrid looked sick. After telling me to go inside the shop named Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, to buy uniform he slipped off to Leaky Cauldron, probably to throw up.

Instead of going into the shop to buy uniform, I rushed into the bookstore. I had promised Micasa that I would try my best to find a way for her to work in magical areas.

I entered the shop. It had lots of books. Some were recognisable, like the ones required in Hogwarts first year, some were thick, with leather covers, title curved in gold. They looked exotic.

"Hogwarts, kid?" The old shopkeeper asked.

I nodded and gave him the slip with the book list.

"Can I look around the shop, while you get the books listed on the slip?" I asked politely.

"No problem, boy."

I started from the arithmancy section as it was the nearest. One by one exact copy of the book I touched, started appearing in my mystic library with all the flaws listed in it. There were numerous books, so I had to walk a little faster. When I was finished copying the books, All of them disintegrated into a purple mist and then the purple mist solidified to form a title less book. It was the book with no flaw. After absorbing all the books in the arithmancy section, I did the same with ancient runes, and then the charms and spells section, sections with books on transfiguration, potions and lastly the books on Alchemy. There were other sections dedicated to books on magical plants and creature, enchantment and wand lore. I copied all those books without hesitation. There was also a special section dedicated to fortune telling. I knew it took inherent talent to predict future but I thought there was no loss in gaining some extra knowledge. So I absorbed all the books about prophecy and fortune telling. After I was finished with absorbing all the book, I realised something very important. I was quite lucky that all the books didn't have any harmful curses. I should've been more careful. I was so excited to get new books that I didn't take the necessary precautions.

"Harry... Harry..." I heard Hagrid's loud voice from outside. At least I was able to copy all the books from Flourish Blotts.

"Here are your books, kid." The old shopkeeper handed me the bag with books.

"How much?"

"20 Galleons."

I took out 22 Galleons from my pouch and gave him.

"Here's 22 Galleons - thank you for letting see all the books." I said as I ran outside the shop. If didn't go to Hagrid immediately, he might do something drastic. He was a half-giant after all.

"Hagrid," I waved at Hagrid, "I am here."

He noticed me.

"Where did you run off to? I was so worried. I thought you got lost." He scolded me a little. But his face had a relieved expression.

"Oh! I went to the bookstore to buy my books. You see, I love reading books." I said in an innocent tone.

"Okay, but don't do this again." He reminded me.

"Okay"

Then he took to me to the cloth store.

"Hogwarts, dear?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Okay, stand straight, stretch your arm a bit...hmm," she said as she took all the required measurement for robes," right! You wait here for a few minute. She entered into a room at the back of the shop with the measuring tape.

I remembered that in the original timeline, Harry met Draco for the first time, in this shop. I also recalled that originally, Harry visited Diagon Alley on the next day.

After few minutes of waiting, Madam Malikin came out of the room with a new robe on her hand. She handed me the robe gesturing me to wear it. It was a perfect fit.

"A perfect fit!" She said proudly, "Be sure to come again, Mr. Potter."

I was surprised. She recognized me earlier. At the same time, it was nice to talk others just like a normal kid.

Then Hagrid took me to buy quills and parchment. There were different kinds of ink like colour changing ink, vanishing ink and so on. I bought the normal ones.

I bought both pewter cauldron and silver cauldron. The silver one was for personal use. I also bought complete set of basic tools required for potion brewing like stirrer, knife, test tubes and so on. All of them were silver except for the glass test tubes.

In the apothecary, I bought basic ingredient required in first year potion brewing.

After existing the apothecary, Hagrid checked the list.

"Just your wand left, but first I have to get you a birthday present."

"You don't ha - "

"I know I don't have to. But I want to. An Owl would be a good companion for you." He said stubbornly.

We entered Eeylops Owl Emporium. It was dark. Only pairs of round shining eyes could be seen. I noticed a unique snow white owl at the back. I recognized her. She was Hedwig. I rushed to her.

"How about it girl, would you like me as your companion?" I asked. She stared at me for few seconds before hooting.

"Seems like you've chosen your owl already." Hagrid commented from behind, " She's quite the beauty. Good choice, Harry."

"Now only Ollivanders left now - only place for wands, Ollivanders, and you've got to admit, he sells the best wand." He said. I kept nodding.

The last shop was narrow and shabby. Peeling gold letters over the door read Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window.

A tinkling bell rang somewhere in the depths of the shop as they stepped inside. It was a tiny place, empty except for a single, spindly chair that Hagrid sat on to wait.

I could sense Mr. Ollivander. He was standing behind me. He had disillusioned himself, so nobody could see him. He might want to appear more mysterious by suddenly appearing behind customers. But his petty trick won't work on me. I could sense both magic and life signatures.

"Good afternoon." Said Ollivander from behind. He had wide, pale eyes shining like moons through the gloom of the shop. He was very surprised by my lack of reaction as he didn't know that I was already aware of his position. But Hagrid wasn't so lucky. He jumped. The chair broke with a crunching noise.

"Hello." I said smoothly.

He composed himself.

"Ah yes," said the man. "Yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Harry Potter." It wasn't a question. "You have your mother's eyes. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wand. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wand for charm work."

Mr. Ollivander moved closer to me. He looked a bit creepy with his silvery eyes.

"Your father, on the other hand, favoured a mahogany wand. Eleven inches. Pliable. A little more power and excellent for transfiguration. Well, I say your father favoured it - it's really the wand that chooses the wizard, of course."

"Which is your wand arm?"

"Well, I am right handed." said I said.

"Hold out your arm. That's it." He measured me from shoulder to finger, then wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit and round my head, just like it was shown in the movie. As he measured, he said, "Every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful magical substance, Mr. Potter. We use unicorn hairs, phoenix tail feathers, and the heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, just as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are quite the same. And of course, you will never get such good results with another wizard's wand."

The tape measure, which was measuring between my nostrils, was doing this on its own. Mr. Ollivander was flitting around the shelves, taking down boxes.

"That will do," he said, and the tape measure crumpled into a heap on the floor. "Right then, Mr. Potter. Try this one. Beech wood and dragon heartstring. Nine inches. Nice and flexible. just take it and give it a wave."

I took the wand and felt some numerous threads of magic latching into my hand but it stopped half way. Before I could wave it, Ollivander snatched it from me at once.

"Maple and phoenix feather. Seven inches. Try -"

Once again he snatched it from me before I could wave. I had tried three other wands but all failed.

But then an idea struck. I let loose a little bit of my magical aura. The moment I did, one of the box in the shelves located at furthest right corner of the room glowed bright green. I felt it presence. It was soothing, very comfortable. My eyes moistened. It reminded me a lot of my mother when she used to sing me to sleep. I was so foolish back then. I took mom for granted.

"Well, look what we have here. A very interesting phenomenon. It happened twice but it's the first time it glowed so bright," He walked toward the shelf where the wand that lit up earlier, was kept, "The druids considered anything with a woody stem as a tree, and vine makes wands of such a special nature that I have been happy to continue their ancient tradition. Vine wands are among the less common types, and I have been intrigued to notice that their owners are nearly always those witches or wizards who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best. Vine wands seem strongly attracted by personalities with hidden depths, and I have found them more sensitive than any other when it comes to instantly detecting a prospective match. Reliable sources claim that these wands can emit magical effects upon the mere entrance into their room of a suitable owner."

I was really intrigued by the information.

He then took out box from the shelf. The box looked quite old. He came to the counter.

He then carefully opened the box and took out the wand. It was green and uneven.

"Vine and Phoenix feathers - quite an unusual combination. Try it." He said as he handed me the wand.

I could sense a single string of magic shot through the wand, it gently coiled around my wrist. I felt the same doothing presence. It again glowed bright green for few seconds.

Inside my Mystic Library's space. A book came into existence. The cover had five words engraved on it which read:

Vine and Phoenix feathers wand.

I opened the book and skimmed through first few paragraphs.

It read:

"Vine wood from forbidden forest, 50 years old. Phoenix feathers, 200 years old..."

I then skimmed to the last page. It read:

"23 Flaws: No. 1, The wood is not saturated enough with magic, No. 2,..., No. 17, the celtic rune for magic conductance is 0.0003 mm short in vertical dimension,..., No. 23, the wood material is 2% more than the required amount."

Damn! The wand was littered with flaws!

Well, I would've to correct the flaws,ater.

"I expect great things from you, Mr. Potter." He bowed. We left the shop.

It was almost night when I returned. Hagrid went back to Hogwarts after dropping me.

I directly went into my room. I was excited to check all the books mystic library compiled.

"Welcome home, sir. How was your day?" Misaca said.

"It was good. I accomplished what I had hoped for or you can say, you hoped for." I said teasingly. She was acting like a little girl who was very eager to get specific gift that her father promised to buy.

"If you don't want to me to go to magical world with you, then so be it." She sounded angry. I was at a loss, she mimicked human emotion so perfectly.

"Sorry, sorry. Please forgive me, my cute little assistant." I apologized.

"If you want forgiveness. You have to make it up to me, then"

"How?"

"Well - you can make me functionable in areas with high mana density."

"Okay, okay. The first thing I will do tomorrow will be upgrading you to a magical version. Are you happy now?"

"Yes, I am very happy."

"Okay, now its time to utilize the purple page, I got earlier." I muttered as I entered the mystic library space. After a lot of experimentation, I found out that the Mystic Library exist in a separate pocket dimension. It was integrated with my soul and body in such a way that it responded to my intent. Whenever I intended to fond flaws in a book it copied and listed all the flaws, whenever I wanted it find the flaws of any action taking place in front of me, it did. And time here flowed here differently. One hour outside was similar to one minute inside.

I summoned the purple page. I wasn't sure but it looked a little larger than usual. The moment I touched it, my body started itching which got irritating with time. It was taking longer than expected. After about fifteen second a splitting headache assaulted me. It felt like my whole being was being torn apart and repaired at the same time.

"Mis -" I couldn't finish what I wanted to say. My throat was burning.

"Sir, sir. Are you alright?" Was the last thing I heard before I couldn't take the excruciating pain any longer, my vision blurred and I passed out.

- scene change -

The next morning, I woke up. I felt light headed and also as if my body weight was reduced in half. But my skin felt itchy. When I tried scratching my elbow, some dead and dry skin got on my hand . It looked gross. I immediately rushed into the bathroom. I looked at the mirror to see that my skin was falling off like a snake shredding its skin. I washed myself, got rid of all the dead skin. My new skin looked more white and pale. I was becoming more like Otsutsuki clansmen. My head was now filled with all the knowledge in the books I copied from the bookstorein Diagon Alley. I could now pass OWLs and NEWTs exam pretty easily, even score perfectly.

The books which the mystic library compiled, included potion brewing, extracting magical ingredients and its preparation, ancient runes, arithmancy, fortune-telling, scrying, wandlore, charms, spell crafting, enchantment, Occlumency and so on. Unfortunately there were no books on legilimency or branch of magic that were considered dark like blood magic, ritual magic, necromancy etc.

After having breakfast, I bought wood curving tools and also a furnace for melting metal and several blocks of carbon steel, silver and gold. It was costly. The carbon steel was for making a robotic body for Micasa.

With the help of all my knowledge on runes and enchantment, I corrected all the flaws of my Vine wand. For the mana saturation problem, I released continuous stream of magic through the vine wood. It took half an hour to completely saturate the wood with mana. After correcting all the flaws, I analysed the completed wand with the mystic library. It showed no extra flaws. I was relieved. After that when I hold the wand for the second time, a larger thread shot through the wand and wrapped around my whole arm. Then I suddenly felt a connection building between it and my soul. It was as if the wand was becoming a part of me, like an extra limb. It took few minutes to complete the process. But the result was worth the wait. I could now summon my wand anytime, anywhere. Whenever I wished, it appeared in my hand instantaneously. And the wand could now withstand my full power. It reduced one of my worry. I was dreading to think that my wand would be destroyed if I ever used my full power. Well - the problem was solved.

Then I started designing the body for Micasa using 3D modelling software which I designed myself earlier. I wanted to make it in such a way that she could transform between a humanoid female and a small fly. Her humanoid body's size would be similar to a doll. I made her body look like Hatsune Miku. I also a made a circuit board using numerous runes and electronics. It's main function was to convert electronic signal to magic. The tech was revolutionary. With it non-magical could use magic using computer but I didn't want to disclose it to anyone as it would cause chaos and might even cause war, I obviously didn't want that.

With the Electric Signal to Magic Conversion Chip (ESMCC), Micasa would be able to interact with outside world properly like flying, apparating and so on. she could now function fully in magical world and also help me in many ways. I made the ESMCC with pure Gold and silver, as they were very good conductors of both magic and electricity. Her power source would be the ambient mana in the air, which was present almost in an unlimited amount.

It took 5 hours to design her body completely.

"Do you like my design, Micasa?" I asked her.

"Yes, sir." She answered affirmative. I was sure she would accept my design, as I corrected all the flaws in the design using mystic library.

Three days later...

"It's time to see the result of my hard work," I said as I connected a cord into a port at the back of the doll's head, "Micasa, start uploading your core program."

"Yes sir. Upload commencing in 3...2...1...0... START"

The computer screen showed the progress.

[Uploading 3%...27%...43%...61%...78%...98%...COMPLETE]

The eye of female humanoid body that was on the bed glowed blue.

I sensed that mana surrounding the doll were getting sucked inside its body.

After about thirty minutes the doll stood up. It slowly walked perfectly toward me. It paused and then started flying. It looked like a little fairy with no wings.

"Hello sir. How do I look?" She asked, hands on her waist posing a bit. I had dressed the doll with green dress, earlier.

"You look fantastic."

"Thank you."

"Are all your functions working properly, like - are you able connect to the Internet wirelessly?"

"Yes, Sir."

"How do you feel, to be able to move freely and use magic."

"It feels amazing. I can now interact with anything I want." She said as she flew around me. She sounded so happy. I wasn't sure that she was mimicking happiness or genuinely feeling it.

"Well, good for you then."

"Thank you, thank you very much, sir." She landed on my right shoulder.

Time quickly flew away. 1st September arrived, the starting of my Hogwarts year. Although knowledge and skill wise, I was master level at several subjects like transfiguration, charms, potions, ancient runes, astronomy, care of magical creature, warding, arithmancy, defence against dark arts (DADA) and so on. The most useful thing that I accomplished in the last month other than building a body for Micasa, was becoming an animagus. As it took very little magic, I could transform without being noticed by the ministry of magic. My animagus was that of a Demiguise. It felt amazing. I could become invisible and sneak into many place without being noticed. The most important ability of my animagus form was the ability to see possible future outcomes when in danger. Also my mind was completely calm when in animagus form.

It was 9 o' clock when I reached King's Cross Station. I was wearing a simple black jeans and formal white shirt. My hair was messy and little bit long, they reached down to my eye level. I was wearing sports shoes.

I strolled through the crowd silently, Micasa was sitting on my right shoulder. She found my shoulder a comfortable place to sit. She was invisible. It took a great deal of hard work to mimic the effect of natural ability of demiguise to turn invisible.

My owl, Hedwig was sitting on my left shoulder majestically. After reaching home, I had freed Hedwig and asked her if she wanted to stay with me. She chose to stay. Well - she couldn't talk but she hooted in agreement.

"Well - sir, how are you feeling?" Micasa asked. Hedwig also hooted questioningly.

"I am very excited!" I exclaimed.

"I am too, sir. If all the information about the magical world in my database is true, then it'll be a grand adventure." She said enthusiastically.

After walking a bit, I reached the barrier between platform 9 and 10.

I hold the trunk tighter, it was very light due to feather weight charm on it. I had bought a four apartment trunk when shopping with Hagrid. Reaching home, I upgraded it with the help of mystic library.

"Hedwig, Micasa, hold on to me tightly." I said as I got ready for a sprint.

Hedwig dug her talon into my shirt. It scratched my shoulder a little which was healed almost instantaneously. Micasa grasped my hairs with her little mechanical hands.

I didn't notice the Weasley family, either I was late or timeline changed, who knows? Well -- I was going to find out soon.

Then I passed through the barrier and reached the famous platform.

Nine and three-quarters!
