In the fight against the eradication of evil in the world, the government adopts a system that boils down to the existence of a "book of life" belonging to each inhabitant, and which has 3 pages that, when they fall in their entirety, eliminate the life of the respective owner. Each book contains, on each page, the 3 qualities that are seen as essential for an organized and healthy life in society: intelligence, kindness, and honesty. However, this system reveals a flaw. Serial killers, known for their great intelligence, manage to survive, keeping the intelligence sheet and disrupting the lives of those who fight for a better world. Noir, who experiences the feeling of being in the "wrong place at the wrong time" on his own skin, is unfairly accused and needs to turn to his book of life to prove his innocence, however, it was strategically stolen. This is a story that will follow the tragedy of Taeha's death, who will never give up knowing the truth and getting revenge, and Noir's incrimination, testing the limits of goodness and evil and witnessing which of the two reveals the greatest power.

The most beloved character in our story

I used to really enjoy reading while taking a sip of my caramel macchiato and entering a different reality, but the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that authors always chose the most beloved characters to die. Guess I was the dearest one in our story.

Darkness seizes my eyes, and I, who were not used to being afraid of such trivialities, let out a scream, my last.

Our ancestors made community life impossible, which is why we all depend on a 3-page book that is born with us. These pages should be kept for the good of our lives, as they contain the characteristics that the government considers essential for the eradication of evil in the world: honesty, kindness, and intelligence. I never knew that having at least 1 of these 3 characteristics would be crucial for me to keep on living.

What happened to me? You may ask. Well, my life was put at risk, not because of the book of life, but because of a flaw in the system. It all ended too soon, it's not fair. I, who still had the three pages left and lived an exemplary life, was eliminated from the system because of the evil that still remains in our community.

I don't care if you tell me that evil always wins, because I won't let it happen. I will fight and get revenge, even if that implies me reincarnating and killing somebody in my next life.

My eyes follow his heavy steps towards the cell. I can almost guess what kind of thoughts drown his murderous mind: "I have to get out of here as soon as possible", "how can I escape?".

- Noir, you are the main suspect in the murder of a woman by the name of Taeha Park, which took place on April 24, around 9 pm - accuses Commander Orpheus.

I feel a shiver run through my soul. It's been so long since someone called my name... at least my existence hasn't been forgotten. However, I must admit that the fact that I'm just being remembered as a poor woman who crossed paths with a murderer is quite disappointing.

- I told you I didn't do anything! A tall man with dark eyes, almost as dark as the night, committed this murder right in front of me and plotted me.

- Noir eyes? - the commander jokes.

The suspect appears to be annoyed by such a comment.

It's exciting yet a bit frighting to be standing right next to these men, because they have no idea of my presence. I can smell, touch them and the maximum they will ever feel is a little shiver. This almost looks like a ghost story… or maybe it's a dramatic plot twist inside a novel? I don't know. I wish I could know what's inside the author's head.

- So you're telling me that someone set a trap for you? - starts Orpheus.

- Yes!

- Do you have proof?

- And you, do you have any proof? - Noir tests.

In this, the commander places in front of him a line of photos, where I can recognize my small and fragile body lying on the ground and, beside me, there is Noir.

- Have I left you speechless? I haven't even shown you any other evidence we've gathered yet - teases Orpheus.

Noir does not respond, so the commander continues:

As you can see, we went to the safe where your book of life is located and its balance is one page.

- I admit that I have not always lived my life in the most correct way, but what does that have to do with the murder?

I notice the suspect's legs begin to shake frantically. There's something that doesn't seem right though, yet who am I to doubt the work of the police? After all, I'm just a small cluster of energy and anger. A lot of anger.

- It is not common knowledge, but serial killers manage to live in our society due to the existence of the intelligence page. It is, unfortunately, an irremediable system flaw, which makes every single one of them have the balance of one page in their safes... just like you - calmly explains Orpheus.

- And do you really think it is the sheet of intelligence I have left? - Noir laughs and I shudder. I remember the countless serial killers' documentaries I used to see and how psychotic they were, laughing in court and not showing any kind of regret.

Is Noir one of them?
