I woke up to a ticking sound, like from a clock. I groggily opened my eyes and what greeted my eyes was a timer, I stared at it incredulously.

Now the timer ran out what happens? I was curious to find out what happens.
Due to not completing Daily Quest: Road To Get Stronger, a penalty quest has been given.
Hey… hey! When did I get a daily quest? This is bullshit! I looked into my memories for the day and couldn't find it anywhere in my memories.
Did it not show up as a quest alert? Tch, dammit. I felt annoyed by this penalty and wondered what it would be.

I saw that the quest didn't have an accept or decline button, does that mean this is a mandatory quest? I didn't need an answer I already knew it.
I saw the room start to turn into sand before my eyes, the walls dressers and floor turned to sand allowing me to see outside.
While I was previously on the second floor of a building I was now sitting on my bed in the middle of a desert. Dunes stretched across the horizon, everywhere except the sky and sun was sand.
As I was gawking at the sudden change of environment, I fell down onto the sand, my bed now had also turned into sand.
I saw a timer in front of me, it showed the time,

Wait, didn't the objective say survive? What should I survive against? I felt somewhat giddy, if it was just the desert it would be fine, I had already put lots of water bottles in my inventory…
I just raised a red flag didn't I?
As soon as I thought that, multiple sinkholes appeared, sucking all the sand into it. I started running away from the sinkholes, I barely made it out of the range of the sinkholes.
Is this the danger that I'm supposed to face?
As soon as I thought that a shadow seemed to grow from behind me, blocking out the sun.
Fuck…
I took a tentative glance behind me and what I saw made my eyes widen.
3 giant centipedes were looming over in the sky like mountains, half of their body was in the sand still. I looked at the giant red letters on top of their heads,
[Giant Desert Centipede]
'They still hadn't noticed me, I can still make it out of here unnoticed' I concluded, I started back peddling slowly, trying to not make any sudden shifts in the sand.
'Yes, I could make it out of here' I thought with a bit of hope and determination.
To be honest, if I didn't have [Gamer's Mind], I would have freaked out… a lot.
As I was moving backwards I didn't take the sudden change in height of the sand in account, and fell backwards, 'crap' my eyes widened.
All of the monstrous centipedes turned their heads to me, 'fuck' I was still, not a single movement came from me, I even stopped breathing.
The centipedes were all quiet as well, not a single movement came from them aside from the casual flicker of their antenna. Soon they all turned their heads the other way, I breathed out a suffocated sigh.
Their heads snapped to my location all at once, it would've been comical if it wasn't real life.
The centipede on the left side rushed to my side at once, I barely dodged to the side, I looked to my left where I just was and saw that the centipedes head was there, its pincers stuck in the sand.
An idea popped into my head, it was stupid… let me reiterate that… it was VERY stupid but I may be able to survive with it. With my will to survive being the only thing pushing me to go through with my idiotic idea, I started running towards the stuck head of the centipede, it wasn't far but the other centipedes weren't going to stand by idly.
They also started coming after me, the centipede that was in the middle burrowed himself underground while the one on the right came from above.
I was blown forward when the right centipede decided to take a bite where I just was, making a strong cloud of sand, I got off of my front and started running towards the left centipede again.
The right centipede took his head out of the sand and started shaking it, thankfully this gave me more time to run towards the centipede that I needed to get to.
I saw that the left centipede was getting up, slowly it started lifting its body.
My dagger materialised in my hand and I ran up the spine of the centipede towards the head and struck down right between its two antennas.

The giant centipede lifted its head in pain, it started to arch its back and get up.
As the giant centipede started to get up, the sand under it exploded outwards, creating a cloud of sand that was sent into the eyes of the boy riding the centipede, blinding him.
Out of the sand cloud came a pair of pincers that were wide open, they bit on the head of centipede above it.
All the time the boy was thinking:
'What have I gotten into?'

I reappeared on my bed four hours later, sweaty and tired, I thought back to my last four hours that I spent trying to survive.
I was extremely lucky, I remembered that I had put some stat points into luck before I went into the penalty quest dungeon. That was good that I did even though it was for a different purpose.

It was amazing like drinking cold water on a hot day, it made me feel relaxed, calm, and not… tired? How? I was very tired before, my SP nearly reached 0 due to my constant use of [Sprint], [Eavesdropping] and also running. But on the Brightside they did level up a few times, I looked at their levels in the skills tab.

It was amazing especially the fact that I could go even faster with [Sprint] if I used more SP which I definitely did when it counted.
I also got an extra 3 STR, 3 DEX, 5 VIT and surprisingly 2 LUC, was it because I kept testing my luck?
I get the 3 STR, 3 DEX and 5 VIT, I remembered that you could increase stats through training so weight lifting would increase STR and studying would increase INT.
Hmm… this makes stat points much more valuable, so I'll keep them for now. Now back to my other rewards, the reward box!
I took the silver wrapped box from my inventory and put it in my lap, I teared apart the wrappings then looked inside. It was-

"What the fuck!" I cursed under my breath, I risked my life for a stupid umbrella?! I calmed down soon enough thanks to [Gamer's Mind]. Seriously this thing is the only reason I'm alive, it helped keep me calm in crazy situations, but I guess crazy situations are going to be the norm from now on.
I took out one last thing from my inventory, something that dropped when I steered one of the centipedes into the other which made it drop something, a small wooden stick, only about as big as a finger with a rune or insignia of some kind in the middle that glowed with some kind of cosmic power. I observed the stick in my hand.
