Leila Fenex-Lamperouge was dressed in a closed purple battle dress that did not restrain her movements. Even though it didn't fit her body tightly, one could still see her beautiful form. Her long and blonde but slightly curly hair was not braided, but was loose and falling down her back.

- Mistress Leila, can you feel it? - Kimimaro, who was wearing his favourite plain white shirt with a purple bow sash, asked her.

- Yes, the enemy is close,' Leila said in a calm voice, hiding her nervousness. Still, this was the first serious assignment Lelouch had given her and she didn't want to let him down. - And please don't call me Mistress.

Kimimaro only looked at her questioningly. After a few seconds of thought, he said:

- I am here on behalf of Lelouch-san. And he ordered me not only to guard you, Mistress, but also to do your bidding. I am willing to give my life for you,' he bowed his head slightly in her direction.

Leila only sighed and turned away towards the forest, where soon they would be coming from...who?

- Mistress Leila,' one of the sensors of Leila's small army, consisting of dragons and demons of the Low and Middle Classes, appeared beside her. Also at the head of the dragons were Dragons and at the head of the other demons were High Class demons respectively, -We have detected a distorted Force of Light beyond the hills.

- The Fallen,' Leila stretched out thoughtfully, as if trying to make a hole in the hills to see the enemy, 'Who and how many? - she asked in a commanding tone.

- Cockabiel. About ten thousand,' the demon said in a trembling tone, bowing even more heavily.

- They outnumber us by a factor of five,' Kimimaro muttered in shock, but immediately stopped himself, 'Mistress, we have to leave. Kokabiel is not an opponent we can handle. Especially since we have fewer troops...

- No,' Leila said, 'Lelouch has entrusted me with a path that leads directly to the borders of Sitri. And we will hold it. I do not wish to let him down. And I don't think you do either, Kimimaro,' she fixed her blue eyes on him.

I understand her eagerness. She doesn't want to fall foul of her Lord, but these paths to Sitri are not worth dying here. But...

- All right,' Kimimaro said suddenly to himself. - We'll stay here. Order everyone to prepare for battle. Battle formation 'Spear of the Banner Bearer'.

- Will do,' the demon replied and disappeared into the teleportation circle.

- Thank you, Kimimaro,' Leila smiled warmly. Kimimaro smiled again, unexpectedly to himself, with the corner of his lips.

Fenex-Lamperouge's smile was incredibly infectious, and it was the only reason there were no gloomy days for the servants in the castle.

Including for Kimimaro when he sat up late in the training complex with Leila....

- Who's going to have your back when you're in trouble again? - Kimimaro grinned slightly, not at all like him.

- Yeah, tell me about it, but remind me who saved you from the hound last time, hmm? - Leila smiled wryly, turning sideways to him, showing him her bulging breasts.

- It was a one-time thing. It won't happen again,' Kimimaro replied nonchalantly, but in his heart he was ready to fall through the ground. She would remember his...shame for a long time to come.

- Well, well, well,' Leila grinned and turned away, looking out over the hills again.

Kimimaro sighed. He was fully assembled and ready for battle. And also to protect Leila from Kokabiel if necessary. Fenex-Lamperouge could sense that and was grateful for it.

He had become more outgoing over the years, though many still feared him. But compared to his cruel and cold-blooded nature that he used to have, his current behaviour does not compare.

- Behind our backs are the homes of our nearest and dearest. And the lands of our Lord,' came a growling voice behind her, addressing all the warriors. It was Draug, a High Class Dragon, 'If we fall, these feathered creatures will sweep across our lands. Destroy our shelter, burn our fields, perhaps resort to the violence of our kin. DO YOU WANT THAT?!

- NO! - came the deafening roar of a crowd of 2,000.

- Then fight on. And may the ancestors proudly light your path! - roared into the sky Draug, and the rest of the dragons echoed him.

- YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! - roared the demons as well as the dragons.

- Draug knows how to lift the spirits of his soldiers. I'm a long way from him,' Leila thought as she looked at the huge five metre tall blue Dragon. Draug is one of the eighty High Class Dragons who can transform into humans.

Eighty High Class Dragons are equal to several thousand demons on the battlefield.....

And add to that each Dragon's army made up of other dragons....

But her musings were interrupted when creatures with black wings appeared from behind the hills. There were so many of them that they covered the entire purple sky of the Underworld with their wings.

At the head of this army flew Cockabiel with his trademark predatory smile. He wore the same black robe he wore when he met Venelana. He flapped his ten wings and the Supreme Fallen was already near the calmly standing Leila.

- Oh, boy, I remember you,' Cockabiel grinned, looking at Kimimaro, 'You were with the Lamperouge girl back then. And that young demoness...

- Leila. Leila Lamperouge,' Leila said, looking down at the former War Angel.

- I see. I think you know me, so I won't introduce myself,' Fallen continued with the same grin, 'We want...no, we demand that you get the hell out of here. We don't want to spill any blood, so just leave and....

- No,' Leila said firmly, staring straight into the Fallen One's red eyes.

- What?' Cockabiel was taken aback for a second, 'You don't look like you've ever been kicked in the arse for interrupting your elders. Didn't your Master tame you? You should listen carefully to the demands...

Leila flashed an aura of flame that would have almost reached Fallen if he hadn't flown back a few metres. A pair of fiery wings formed behind her back, and a hot Aura that could burn even a Dragon flared around her.

- Fenex? - The Fallen One stretched out, 'Well, that's more interesting,' Cockabiel grinned happily and flew away.

- Let's get ready for battle, boys!!! - roared Cockabiel.

He started to say something else to his army, and they shouted back at him happily. But that didn't bother Leila.

- Activate defence barriers. The dragons will position themselves in the sky, and cover the front line with fire. High Class Demon reserves will position themselves behind the barriers and support the defence with attack spells. Everyone get ready! - Leila ordered, turning to the troops.

- YES! - A chorus of warriors rang out, and they immediately began to follow the command.

- I'll stay with you, - Kimimaro decided to speak up.

- I know, you'll go without me, won't you, Kim? - Leila smiled mischievously, but Kimimaro could see that she was scared. She was trembling slightly, and her pupils occasionally ran in different directions.

Kaguya put a hand on her shoulder. She flinched at that touch and looked at her friend with a questioning expression.

- It's alright. I'll protect you. After all...you're my friend,' those words came hard to him, as he doesn't know what to say in such cases, but he didn't intend to stay away.

Leila chuckled slightly.

- Of course you are my friend,' she gently threw off his hand and smiled brightly, 'Thank you!

Kimimaro only nodded and turned towards Kokabiel's troops with a nonchalant face. They were already lined up in a strange battle order, which puzzled them both greatly. There were some sort of wedges on both sides that appeared to be needed for a pinpoint breakthrough. In the hands of all these fallen men were lightsabers and spears.

But the strange thing was that they had positioned them on two different sides. The path reaching Sitri's lands was through the narrow gorge of the mountains where Leila's troops were, so they would only be able to break through there. And the fallen that had sent their wedges straight into the front line of demons were not going to change their location.

- But Kimimaro's voice was drowned out by the cries of the fallen that were flying towards the enemy with all the speed they could muster.

None of Leila's army feared...

No, they are not afraid of death...

Yes, perhaps they are fools not to fear it, but....

They know that if they fall, the fallen will come to their lands....

To their families.

They will not surrender under any circumstances.

They are the First Legion of Lamperouge. The very first Legion of Demons and Dragons that Lelouch took under his wing. They are the first to join him on his very first military campaigns....

Battle-hardened warriors who fear no death! They do not fear the Abyss, for they are the Abyss itself.

And Cockabiel doesn't know what he's up against...

But even so.

Not everything will be as good as it might seem to the defence...

***

Two battle wedges composed of fallen of a wide variety of Classes descended upon the forward barriers with all their might and fury. The reserve regiment of Demons that were behind the barriers had to be attacked with a variety of spells without stopping.

It seemed that there were incredibly many enemies and they didn't fall from one attack straight to the chest. Draug, a High Class Dragon, notices this and roars after a few languid seconds of battle.

- THEY'RE WEARING AMULETS THAT PROTECT THEM FROM MAGIC. HIT THE WINGS TO KNOCK THEM OFF!!!! - he exhaled his fire directly into the wings of the enemy.

They were simple one-type amulets that hung around their necks. They partially protected their main body from any kind of magic, but the wings remained unprotected.

Of course, any creature from the Three Factions could use its wings as a kind of protective barrier. But if you hit it in flight, you can knock it down and then attack it on the ground.

As the fallen begin to fall to the ground, the front line barriers are ajar.....

- FIRE!!! - roared Draug and continued pouring fire on the enemy to keep them from attacking those who had made it out in a small sortie.

Of course, the Demons had received all the instructions before the battle in case of defence. And now, all of those who were most speed orientated drew their weapons from their sheaths and rushed screaming into battle.

They cut wings, tore off heads, pierced each other's hearts, and then retreated behind the barriers.

Leila, on the other hand, was only using her fiery Aura to scare her opponents away from her. Still, Fenex's flames were not to be taken lightly. It can burn as badly as dragon flames. Though scalding is an understatement.

Leila is a half-blood, but she's trained so hard that she's as good as the Fenex Highs at controlling flames. But even that might not be enough for her right now.

But now Leila realised why the two wedges had been formed....

She concentrated the wind elemental in her hand and amplified the Fenex fire to add momentum, touching Kimimaro's chest.

Kimimaro looked at Leila, perplexed.

- 'Go behind the barriers,' Leila whispered quietly, but Kimimaro heard and was horrified.

- NOT-' but his shout was already far away as he was already flying towards the barriers.

Leila was left alone against thousands of fallen.

The only one who didn't go behind the barriers, but stayed to fight on the front lines. Bright orange flames swirled around her, driving away all the fallen around her.

She created fiery wings and soared into the air, pouring fire on the feathered ones. But one of those squads didn't care about that.

Kokabiel was wearing armour made up of the Power of Light, and it protected him completely.

- Fire! - shouted the former Seraphim, and thousands of Light attacks immediately flew at Leila from all sides.

So I was the one they were targeting? Then I'm right...

Leila's Aura fought off some of the attacks, but not all of them. She was dodging, twisting, making moves so incredibly flexible that she was the envy of Olympic champions.

A fiery Aura blazed around her, growing larger and larger with each passing second. But even so, Light's attacks were hitting her and didn't have time to regenerate....

Light attacks bring great pain to the 'evil' races, so it is very difficult to heal or regenerate once Light hits the skin.

Cockabiel flew straight at Leila, who was already exhausted but still on her feet. She saw him coming and sent a wave of flame in his direction, which the Fallen One easily dodged. He accelerated himself with the wind and was instantly beside Fenex-Lamperouge.

She was wide-eyed, not expecting such an onslaught from the Fallen One. When Cockabiel had already created a sword out of Light, several spears of Light struck Leila in the back, allowing her to clumsily dodge Cockabiel's attack.

She spat out blood from her mouth, but even a spear of Light hitting her knee didn't make her fall to her knees.

More flames...I WANT MORE!!!

The aura around her became much stronger, and the fallen's skin was touched by hot tongues of flame where scarlet colours streaked through. Cockabiel was forced to retreat again, as he did not know what would happen to him if he touched the Fenex woman's fire.

I can't lose! I must protect them...

Lelouch has entrusted them to me...

I can't let him down.

He is my warmth now.

He's my hope now.

And for his sake, I'm willing to keep fighting! Because I

I love him.

Now it was Leila's turn to throw herself into the enemy camp. But she wasn't heading in the direction of her army's demon barriers, she was heading in the opposite direction....

Her mouth and nose were bleeding, her muscles were aching and needed rest, but she didn't stop, she kept going forward...

Straight towards Kokabiel...

- NO! STOP!!! - Kimimaro shouted and broke free from the Drauga's clutches that had held him down until that moment and rushed into the fight.

Kaguya in his bone armour burst through the ranks of the fallen, slashing each one's throat and chest along the way. He circulated mana within himself, thereby speeding up his own legs and muscles, bursting straight for Leila.

Screams of pain and terror accompanied Kimimaro's path. Just the cold stare of his bright green eyes alone could frighten an inexperienced fallen man.

- W-O-O-O-O-O-O-N! - Kaguya shouted to his enemies in a fit of madness.

No one could stop him singly or in a small group. With a pair of his bone swords, Kimimaro killed everyone in his path.

His movement only stopped when the fallen stood around him and began to put up protective barriers. He couldn't break through them right away, so they immediately began to attack him with the Power of Light.

His own bones protected him from any magical attack. Such a feature of his unique genome. His bone armour suppresses a portion of any magic attack on contact. He doesn't even need to release his Aura to disrupt the opponent's attacks.

Abyss! I can't make it to Leila! I can't... I can't leave her...

Kimimaro with another fierce scream continued to fight even after being surrounded.

- FORWARD, WARRIORS! FOR THE LAM-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-U! - roared Draug, coming out of the barrier.

- FOR THE LAMPLIGHTER! - supported by hundreds of other voices and everyone rushed to the attack.

But despite the support Leila didn't stop her path, continuing to tear through the ranks of the fallen with her flames, leaving only scorched earth.

She barely took her eyes off Cockabiel. To her surprise he was as calm and impenetrable as a rock, staring at her with his predatory red eyes.

Leila was occasionally distracted by the other Fallen that circled around her.

He is the highest Fallen in Azazel's camp. The strongest General, Fallen Warrior, former Seraphim - he is too dangerous. He could interfere with Lelouch's future plans.

If I kill him here and now, then.....

Before Leila could finish her thought, something suddenly crunched. She looked down and saw an explosive seal on the ground that was attached to a rock. And there were about several dozen such seals in the clearing where she was fighting....

Leila covered herself from the explosions with her fiery wings and flew far back from the numerous blast wave. Fenex-Lamperouge hit the neighbouring mountain squarely on the head, but miraculously did not lose control of her body. The seals were filled with the Power of Light, so they hurt her badly....

She spat out the blood again and was about to continue the fight, but then something huge started to fall down on her from the sky....

Something bright...

Leila sensed the danger when the attack was a few metres away from her....

She only had time to set her fiery wings and....

A huge explosion alerted everyone present on the battlefield. Leila's army swept back the fallen and stopped as an explosion occurred at the side of their commander.

Around Kimimaro lay a whole mountain of corpses of the fallen, he himself was covered in blood and breathing heavily. His bone armour began to slowly grow back into his body, alerting his master of his imminent exhaustion. But even though Kaguya had killed many, it still seemed that there were as many fallen as there were, and as many as there were left.

Draug spread his mighty leathery wings, covering with his body the other dragons and demons that stood behind him and raring to help his commander. Though the Dragon wanted to go to the aid himself, but he realised that if they went to the enemy in rage, they would all die here....

The smoke from the explosion cleared and there showed bright blonde hair that even in the soot shone brighter than the stars. Leila, breathing heavily, lay on her stomach and tried to get up.

Despite Fenex's regeneration, the wounds from the Force of Light attack were weakly healed. Her dress was almost completely torn, leaving only the most interesting parts of her gorgeous body exposed.

- LEILA-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A!!! - Kimimaro roared, unleashing small bones reinforced with his mana, sending them at the fallen.

But Kokabiel easily interrupted this attack with a protective barrier.

- Not bad. If I hadn't noticed her, I might be dead by now,' admitted a surprised Cockabiel.

- Incredible lust for killing,' Kokabiel thought to himself, watching Kimimaro from the side.

The Fallen One raised his gaze to Leila's army.

- You fought honourably,' he looked at almost every demon and dragon, stopping only at Kimimaro, who was staring at him with a maddened look, 'But it wasn't enough....

Kokabiel created multiple copies of Light and pierced parts of Leila's body with them. Hands, knees, feet, back - all of them were pierced with spears of Light.

- Surrender,' Cockabiel said gravely, 'I do not wish to spill your blood. It is not your fault that the Higher Ones are ordering you to do anything....

No one moved. To the Fallen One's surprise, only angry and furious looks were directed at him. He had expected to see a bit of doubt or confusion after his words, but no....

- Are they so loyal to their master? - Cockabiel thought a little confused.

He sent the Spear of Light at Leila again, watching carefully for the reaction of her army. But she didn't even squeak, which surprised Cockabiel once again.

He had fought many, but this was the first time he had met such opponents in hundreds of years. With incredible willpower to fight to the end. To end a battle, the Fallen usually quickly defeated the army commander and forced others to watch their commander's torment. And so the warriors would quickly lose the will to fight and surrender. But not them...

- They're just children. Only a hundred years old at most,' Cockabiel reasoned, 'Incredible will and stamina. Rod Lamperouge...Azazel was right about him. A Clan unknown to anyone before, new orders, laws, a system of selection into other Classes. Influence on par with Bael in only eighty-odd years. What could he surprise us with in the future...

Cockabiel once again saw nothing but impotent rage in the army's eyes.

Leila, on the other hand, was barely a step away from crying aloud, not only from physical pain, but also from moral pain. She - Lamperouge - by her actions has disgraced the Rod with her pathetic position...

And there is nothing she can do...

Only to think powerlessly of how pathetic she is.....

- Well,' Cockabiel stretched out, 'Goodbye, Leila Lamperouge. I will remember you...

The Spear of Light went straight for the heart....

Even though she was Fenex, but because of Light's attack, she wouldn't be able to last long in such a position...

The Fallen One has accelerated the process

My death...

Leila thought back to all her happy moments with the loved ones she had gained over these fifty years. They were able to fill the void in her tender heart with their warm attitude towards her.

No neglect or disgust.....

Only sincere smiles and love.....

And her time with Lelouch.

The light romance she missed, the evenings spent alone and then the nights in bed together....

She felt what she feared more than anything else in the world...

Cold...

Her whole skin became cold and even the flames of Fenex she can no longer feel inside her....

But the warmth remains in her heart...

And that calms her, for all her loved ones will be alive.....

Before she could finish her thought, her glazed gaze became alive again...

She felt a monstrous Aura around the entire battlefield...

Leila, through sheer will alone, turned her head in the direction of the emanating Aura...

She opens her eyes wide and moisture appears on the corners of her eyes...

There stood Lelouch Lamperouge in his wind and lightning elemental armour...

His Gias glared brightly and intimidatingly towards Cockabiel. Then he shifted his already new gaze, full of tenderness and bitterness, to Leila.

There were no tears flowing from Gias' eye...

But tears were flowing from his right one...

His fists were clenched, and his hair, like the Lord's battle clothes, was tattered. It could be seen that he was in a great hurry, for an anti-teleportation barrier had been placed on the battlefield....

Leila with her bright smile whispers:

- Lelouch...thank you... - and her eyes closed, sending her into an unknown darkness.

But before she passes out, she feels such a familiar Aura....

A similar Power came from Venelana's sister....

And now it's coming from Lelouch...

The true Power of Destruction...

— А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А-А!!!!! - Lelouch roared so that all of Hell could hear his roar....

The whole Underworld...

Even Heaven heard his roar full of bitterness and pain.
