Appilok's personal combat skills did not yet qualify him as a member of the commando troop, but Ye Chong still brought him along. A commander needed actual combat experience as well. An experienced commander was more useful than a mech pilot, especially when they had a sizable mech squad.
Ye Chong did not have time to consider the details. He charged Celest straight into the pack of gold-striped black dragons.
