Chapter 14: Field Trip

Hey guys Novaflame6_Badal here again! Hope you guys enjoyed the last chapter, it took me awhile to write it. We are getting towards the end of volume 2 of the Rwby story, there are things left unresolved.. but they will get resolved soon.

Nova x Ruby has been getting alot of screen time and development with some snipits of the other pairings such as Turuk x Yang, Daikon x Weiss, and Scarlett x Yatsuhashi. One thing that did annoy me about the cannon Rwby series was the fact they seemed to be building towards a future relationship between Sun and Blake only to completely forget about it and go in a different direction in the later seasons (i.e. volume 7 and 8 for example). But I digress... for now.

I plan to rectify this as it wasn't clear what the relationship between Sun and Blake really was. If you're curious, I plan on at least leaving the chemistry between Blake and Sun there. There'll be a proper end to the story of Sun and Blake. And yes I am changing the cover to a certain chapter.. AFTER the timeskip.

Ruby will be confessing her feelings soon, don't worry. I will probably drag out Turuk x Yang abit longer, but they're close to becoming a couple. As for Daikon x Weiss, thanks to a suggestion from Spector45, I'll be deviating from my original direction with it and incoporating his suggestion for it instead.

Ozpin, Ironwood, and Glynda are seen in ozpin's office discussing some things  after the camera zooms into the window. Ironwood is obviously upset as he begins to argue with the two other professors about what should be done, following the incident at the CCT tower during the Beacon Dance.

"They were here...Ozpin, they were here!," Ironwood said raising his voice.

Ironwood angrily slams his fist against Ozpin's desk.

"We are very much aware of that! Thank you, James.," Glynda said slightly annoyed.

This just serves to anger Ironwood as he takes on a slightly sarcastic and annoyed tone in voice.

"Fantastic! You're aware! Now are we going to do something about it or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore what's right in front of us?!," Ironwood replied exasperated.

An alert sound plays, signifying that someone has arrived on the elevator.

Ozpin looks towards the elevator and speaks.

"Come in.," he says.

It is revealed to be Ruby and Nova as they step out of the elevator and into the room. Glynda raises an eyebrow at this, wondering why the faunus was with Ruby.

"Sorry it took so long. Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here. (She quickly pauses before speaking again)  It wasn't me.," Ruby said.

Nova just snorts before replying to that. 

"Wasn't you? *snort* Well... then I suppose you just happened to want to know what all of the buttons did?," Nova asked chuckling.

Ruby puffed her cheeks out at him as she pouted.

"What's that supposed to mean, Nova?," she asked pouting.

He raised his hands in  mock surrender as he responded.

"Only that you're not very good at lying, Ruby. Relax, I wasn't trying to make fun of you.," Nova said ruffling the shorter girl's hair.

"Thank you for coming, Ruby. And same to you, Nova. How are you two feeling?," Ozpin asked them.

Nova looked towards Ruby and the girl nodded her head, meaning she knew Nova was giving her the go ahead to speak up and tell them what happened.

"Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad- I mean .. our guy-catching record wasn't O-for-three.," Ruby said.

Everyone stares silently at the two teens.

"Okay, so that's the tone we're going for, got it.," Ruby replied.

" Ruby, and... you said your name was Nova.. right?," Ironwood began before asking.

"Yes, that's right.," Nova said nodding.

Ironwood continued.

"Right. Ahem! Ruby and Nova,  I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress and a Huntsman is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could.," Ironwood said.

"While I thank you for the compliment, General... I think you should just be telling that to Ruby. She did most of the work, I simply went with her and did what I could to help her out.," Nova told him.

Ruby looked towards the other teen, and was obviously bothered by what he said.

"That's not true at all, Nova! I wouldn't be here if you hadn't saved me or helped me! Plus, I don't think whoever that person may have been was expecting there to be two people there. Don't say that!," Ruby said.

Nova just nodded and then smiled at her, he appreciated Ruby sticking up for him. The adults in the room smiled at this, they were seeing in person the very special bond these two teens shared.

"Now, the general here has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night, but now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add.," Ozpin said.

"Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you at all?," Glynda asked.

"I... I don't know. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked.," Ruby explained.

This made the other professors think abit before responding. Nova just listened before adding his own thoughts on the intruder the two of them encountered the previous night. 

"Save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby, Nova, and Turuk.," Glynda said.

"Embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could have been anyone.," Ironwood thoughtfully pointed out.

"Whoever it may or may not have been, General, they were after Ruby. And her safety is paramount to me.," Nova said.

Ruby's eyes slightly widened before she had a very noticeable blush on her face, while offering a small smile towards the teen.

"N-Nova....,"Ruby said silently, quietly clutching her hands to her chest.

She composed herself and spoke again.

"A-Anyways... You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?," Ruby asked.

"It's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together.," Ozpin said.

Nova spoke up immediately after, regarding their dilemma.

"About that professor, Ruby and I may have heard something regarding that.," Nova said.

"Oh? You did?," Ozpin asked.

"What did the two of you hear then?," Glynda asked.

Nova nodded to Ruby, who then revealed what they heard.

"I... I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom.," Ruby said.

"Very Interesting.," Ozpin said adopting a thoughtful expression on his face.

"I thought you said the intruder never—," Glynda started but was cut off by Ozpin.

"Thank you for your cooperation,  Ruby, and you as well, Nova. Why don't you go and spend some time with your teams? You both have big days ahead of you.," Ozpin said.

Ruby nodded and turned to walk out of the room, but Nova knew there was something else Ozpin wanted to say to him.

"And Miss Rose, please try and be ... discreet about this matter.," Ozpin said.

"Yes sir, I'll.. do my best to.," Ruby said as she walked out of the room.

She noticed Nova wasn't following her, so she turned to him.

"Nova?," She asked.

He turned to her and smiled.

"Don't worry about me, Ruby. I'll be right behind you, but I think professor Ozpin wants to talk to me about something first. Is that okay if I see what he wants?," Nova said.

Ruby sighed and then smiled at him.

"Yeah. That's fine, just... don't take too long okay? We still have to train today you know?," She replied.

Nova chuckled at this and rubbed Ruby's head. Although it was embarrassing at first, Eventually she grew to like it. This action made her happy for some reason, causing her to smile at him.

"Don't worry,  I promise I won't be long. Just wait for me for a few minutes, okay?," Nova said chuckling as he ruffled her hair.

Ruby giggled and smiled at him before walking away. When Ruby exited the room, Nova turned to Ozpin and Glynda.

"You have something else to say, professor?," Nova asked.

Glynda smiled as Ozpin spoke.

"You catch on rather quick, Mister Belladonna.," Ozpin said.

Glynda then spoke.

"We have... a separate mission for your team.," She said.

This peaked his interest as he listened.

"Ok, I'm listening.," He said.

"We would like for You and your team to accompany team Rwby on their next mission.,"Glynda said.

"There's no telling what sort of trouble those four girls could get into. Since you and your teammates seem to be the closest to them, would you be able to keep an eye on team Rwby?," Ozpin said.

Nova nodded, a sign which they took as compliance to their request. There was just .. one problem with that.

"We'll accept the mission but there's just one problem.," Nova said.

The other professors were confused but had the decency to ask what the problem was.

"And that problem is?," Glynda asked.

"I won't exactly have my whole team with me you see. 3 of my teammates were called away for another mission unfortunately.," Nova said.

"For another mission?," Ozpin asked.

Nova nodded.

"Yeah, they were requested by Professor S and Professor R apparently  to accompany them. So myself and my brother, Turuk, are the only ones available. At the moment.," Nova explained.

Ozpin adopted a thoughtful position as he considered what to do. He then spoke after seemingly coming to a solution.

"It seems it can't be helped then. You and Turuk will have to do for the time being.," Ozpin said.

Glynda was surprised at this and went to say something before Nova spoke up.

"I do hope I'm not being too forward by asking this, but why give this mission to me and my team?," He asked.

Glynda recomposed herself while adjusting her glasses as she spoke in response to Nova's question.

"It is due to your team's familiarity with team Rwby. Since you are always around them or with them, your team was best suited for this.," Glynda replied.

"In short, we assigned this task to your team because you are with them more often than not.," Ozpin added.

Nova thought about this. This could be an opportunity to help Ruby and her teammates for real this time. Plus... it would give him a chance to spend more time with Ruby, whic was a bonus. He found himself wanting to spend more time with her recently for some reason. This scenario was the best of both worlds.

"I see. That would give us a chance to help them for real this time. We've helped them before but... it's just been assisting them in something they started. It would give me a chance to actually help my friend for once... and spend some more time with her.,"Nova said thinking aloud.

Ozpin smiled at this as he spoke again.

"Yourself and miss Rose have grown quite close over the past year,haven't you?," Ozpin asked.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that.,"Nova said slightly surprised by the question. 

"Can we count on your cooperation?," Ozpin asked.

Nova nodded.

"Yes sir.," Nova replied.

"Thank you for your time, mister Belladonna.  Now then why don't you go spend some time with your friends? You have a long day ahead of you after all.," Ozpin said smiling.

Nova nodded and exited the room, leaving the two professors and Ironwood to talk further about the situation from the previous night.

With Ruby

Nova arrived to where she waited as the two then walked towards Ruby's dorm room.

"Sorry for the wait. You wait long, Ruby?," Nova apologized.

"It's okay Nova, I didn't wait that long.," She said as they began to walk.

The redhead continued as she'd been wondering about something.

"So...Nova, what did they want to talk to you about?," She asked.

Nova looked to Ruby and sighed, he couldn't tell her. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't.

"I was actually asked not to tell you Ruby. Not sure why, but the professors don't want me to tell you or anyone else.,"Nova said.

Ruby frowned at this. Why couldn't he tell her?

"Come on, just a little whisper.," Ruby asked.

Nova smiled but still refused.

"No can do, Ruby.," He said.

"Not even a little?," She asked.

Nova shook his head in a no response.

"Nope.," Nova said.

"Pretty please with a cherry on top?," She asked.

Nova chuckled before patting her head.

"Ruby,you know I can't do that.,"Nova chuckled.

Ruby puffed her cheeks as she slightly pouted at this.

"You're not being fair, Nova.," Ruby said pouting.

Nova tried calming Ruby down so she would be mad at him. This caused her to giggle at him as she smiled. She couldn't even be mad at Nova, he was too nice to her.

"I can tell you later, okay?," Nova said.

Ruby looked at him and smiled.

"Promise?," She asked.

"Promise.," He said smiling back.

Ruby then got pretty quiet as a small blush came to her face as she spoke.

"Hey N-Nova?," Ruby asked.

He turned to her as he spoke.

"Yeah? What is it, Ruby?," the dark teen asked.

"T-There's something I've been wanting to tell you for awhile now. But.. I'll have to tell you later though. Do you mind waiting?," Ruby said.

Nova smiled at her and answered Ruby.

"I don't mind waiting cuz there's something I've been wanting to talk to you about too.," He said.

Ruby nodded.

"Thx, Nova. We better get back before the others come looking for me. ,"Ruby said.

Nova nodded. That sounded... less than ideal, so the two teens hurried back towards Ruby's dorm where her team was ironically waiting for her.

Team Rwby's dorm

The two teens walked into the room as the other 3 girls were seen waiting for her.

"😏 Out on a date with Nova again Rubes?," Yang asked smirking.

Ruby blushed at this and redirected the conversation.

"😳Y-Yang!," Ruby said embarrassed.

Yang stuck her hands up in mock surrender.

"Sorry, too soon.," She said apologetically.

Yang spoke up again, switching subjects.

"So... what happened?," Yang asked as the 3 girls looked towards Ruby and Nova.

The dark teen nodded to her, this signaled for her to go on and tell them what happened.

Ruby laughed nervously as she began to tell them what happened in the office.

"Uh... well, um...," she began as she laughed nervously.

Ozpin's office

"Well there we have it. We send as many troops as we can to the southeast, find out exactly what's going on, and eradicate any forces that stand in our way.,"Ironwood said.

Glynda growls in frustration at this. Why was this his answer every time? It frustrated her to no end.

"Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!? You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring di—!,"Glyndasaid before being cut off abruptly by Ozpin.

"Glynda!," Ozpin said interrupting her.

"Well, he does.," Glynda said immediately after.

Ozpin shook his head silently and then spoke, this time towards Ironwood.

"She's right. As much as I too would love to end this situation once and for all, we must remember that this may go beyond Vale. Beyond Beacon. And if this truly is part of some master plan for which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold. Nor can we risk the spread of panic.,"Ozpin said sagely.

Ironwood however didn't seem to share this sentiment.

" I have served you faithfully for years... but if you mean to tell me that your plan is to really hold the defenses, and wait—!," Ironwood said clenching his fists before Ozpin interrupted him.

He stood up abruptly from his chair as he spoke again.

" It is not! You're a general, James. So tell me, when you prepare to go to war, which do you send in first? The flag bearers, or the scouts?," He asked.

Cuts back to team Rwby's room

"That was a risky move.,"Weiss said.

"No, I think you handled it well.," Blake said.

"I hope so.,"Ruby said slightly downcast.

Nova put a hand on her shoulder and smiled.

"Hey, you did the right thing. I'm just glad I was there to help in some small way.,"Nova said encouraging her.

Yang smirked at this.  She could tell, the two of them were close.

"Like Nova said, I'm sure everything will work out in the end Rubes. I know what will cheer ya up!," Yang said.

Yang produces a cylindrical package the length of her forearm.

This confused Ruby. She raised an eyebrow at this strange package.

"What's That?," She asked confused.

"🤷‍♂️ I don't know yet. Dad sent it to us. I thought we could open it together!," Yang said.

Ruby's face lit up at this. That was a welcome sign for Nova, he'd been a little worried before. It was better when Ruby was her normal self.

"Ooooh! Something from home!," Ruby said excited.

Ruby zooms over to Yang and wraps herself around Yang, trying to take the cylinder from her. The package opens, and another cylinder, hairy and black, falls out onto the floor and starts to shake. The object suddenly transforms into a corgi. Team RWBY leans in, staring at it.

The animal barks twice. While Weiss and Blake continue to react with great shock, Ruby and Yang react excitedly, with Ruby jumping in the air. Ruby, still airborne, is depicted among a changing blue background and four shots of the dog, two full body shots and two headshots. She then poses as she shouts the dog's name.

"Zwei!," She shouts excitedly.

Nova raises an eyebrow at this. It was pretty amusing to see how excited Ruby was about a pet dog. While this was happening, Turuk walked into the room.

"Umm... do you know what's happening here?," he asked.

"Watch and you'll see, Turuk.," Nova said.

"He sent a dog?," Blake asked thoroughly confused.

"In the mail?," Weiss asked just as easily confused.

"Oh, he does stuff like this all the time!," Yang said.

Blake disappears, shown now to be on Ruby's bunk.

"Your father or your dog?," Blake asked.

"Are you telling me that this mangy... drooling... mutt is going to wiv wif us foweva? Oh, yes he is, yes he is! Oh, isn't he adorable!," Weiss said doting on Ruby's pet dog.

Blake spoke up, voicing her displeasure for dogs. Nova and Turuk were confused though. Blake.. was afraid of.. dogs?

"Please keep it away from my belongings.," Blake said.

The students then hear an announcement over the intercom in Glynda's voice.

"Would all first-year students please report to the amphitheater?," Glynda asked over the intercom.

"Well, we can't exactly leave him here while we're gone for the week.," Weiss said.

Turuk then spoke up.

"Don't worry about that Weiss, I'm sure our teammates can look after him while you're gone.," Turuk said.

"I.. guess you have a point.," she said in response.

Ruby sets Zwei down and he walks over to Blake still on the top bunk, and barks.

Nova spotted something fall out of the package and tapped Ruby on the shoulder. She looked at him quizzically before he motioned to what fell to the floor.

"Look, there's a letter!," Yang said as Zwei arrives in front of her.

"What's it say?," Ruby asked curiously.

Yang then began to read it.

"Dear girls, I've got to leave the island for a few days, so I'm sending Zwei to you to take care of. Enclosed is all the food you should need. Love you both, Taiyang.", Yang read.

Dozens of cans of dog food spill out of the small package, piling up around Zwei.

Weiss raised an eyebrow at this, somewhat confused.

"What is he supposed to do with that?," Weiss asked.

A can opener falls from the package, bouncing off Zwei's head.

Turuk had a puzzled look on his face at what he was seeing.

"I'm so confused.," He said.

Nova put a hand on his shoulder, sighing as well.

"I don't get it either. I'm sure they'll explain later.," Nova said.

Yang then spoke at that moment.

"Well, that settles it! Come on girls, Zwei will be here when we get back!," Yang said.

"Oh, I'll miss you so much, we're going to be best friends, I can't wait to see you.," Weiss said talking to Zwei as she left, her speech divulging into incomprehensible baby talk.

Meanwhile, Blake jumps down from Ruby's bunk and jumps across the table, avoiding Zwei.

Ruby stares at Zwei for a moment, before smiling sneakily. Nova then spoke up.

"Ruby.," He said in a tone the girl knew well.

She looked nervously at him.

"What are you planning?," He asked.

"What, me? I'm not planning anything.. well, not really.," Ruby replied nervous.

"🤦‍♂️ Ruby, I know you. That look on your face isn't nothing. What are you really up to?," He asked semi interrogating her.

Ruby couldn't help but laugh nervously at this. She'd spent alot of time with Nova over the past year and a half, so she more or less knew what the dark teen was probably thinking.

Nova sighed before speaking up.

"Wait, don't answer that. I'll just guess. So here's what I'm thinking that you'll inevitably do... You're going to somehow make it so you can fit Zwei into your bag.. with all of your other stuff for your mission. Or am I wrong?," Nova said staring at the silver eyed girl.

Ruby's eyes widened before realized how Nova could've guessed what she would do.

"How did you- wait... never mind. Heh heh heh, guess you caught me red handed.," Ruby said nervously laughing.

She then spoke up again as she suddenly became nervous.

"Are you going to tell the others?," She asked.

Nova sighed again before smiling and ruffling her hair. An action that made Ruby pout initially, before she smiled too afterwards.

"No Ruby, I won't tell the others. That's your job as team Rwby's leader.  I just can't stay mad at you for very long, can I? You certainly have a way of keeping things interesting.," Nova replied chuckling.

"So.. you won't tell them?," Ruby asked.

Nova sighed and chuckled again as he answered her question.

"No Ruby, I just said I wouldn't.  You're a special girl, Ruby.," He said.

This confused Ruby, prompting her to ask Nova what he meant by that.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?," She asked with a questioning eyebrow  raised.

"You just have a way of connecting with people. And.. tell me something..

In all this time that you've been alive, have you ever once seen anyone not happy to be around you?," He asked.

"Umm.. no, not that I can think of anyways.," Ruby said still confused.

"That means you have a way of making everyone around you smile. It takes a very special person to do that. I consider myself fortunate enough to have met and befriended a person like that.," Nova explained.

Ruby smiled at him before realizing that she had to go. She packed her things and Zwei into her bag before going to take off. She then stopped, confusing Nova. The girl blushed as she thought on what she was about to say to the dark teen.

"U-Umm N-Nova?," Ruby asked blushing and nervously pressing her fingers together.

"What's up, Ruby?," the teen asked.

"T-There's s-something important I need to tell you after we get back. It-it's something I've been meaning to tell you for awhile now.," Ruby said.

Nova smiled as he nodded towards her.

"Sure. There's actually something important I've been meaning to talk about with you too. But I'll save it for later.," Nova said.

"I'd love to hear what it is later.," He said.

Ruby nodded and then hurried off to rejoin her teammates, Nova hurrying up behind her.

Auditorium

Ruby is wearing a large backpack as she enters the auditorium with other students. She then puts it down next to other students luggage before rejoining her team, who are standing in front of Team JNPR and NDTSA.

"Quiet! Quiet please. Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin.," Glynda said before giving way to Ozpin.

Nova also came in and joined his team in the auditorium. His team looked at him, to which he nodded.

"Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four Kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, Huntsmen and Huntresses will work to uphold it. As first year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional Huntsman or Huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the Kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best.," Ozpin said before stepping away.

The students then filed out of the auditorium immediately after. Nova and Turuk are seen talking to their other 3 teammates before they part ways with them. Scarlett,  Aiko, and Daikon are seen following Rhubar and Sala, while Nova and Turuk walk in the other direction to follow team Rwby unnoticed.

The perspective then shifts to Ruby Rose and her three teammates.

"This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a Huntsman working in the southeast!," Ruby said pumping her fist excitedly. 

"Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip by night!," Yang said agreeing with her sister.

"Let's check "search and destroy"!," Weiss said.

The 3 girls are seen walking up to a hologram screen that  had a list of various missions that teams could shadow Huntsman on.

"Here we go! Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out!," Ruby said with a smile.

"Well, it's in the southeast!," Blake agreed.

"Sounds perfect!," Yang concurred.

Ruby selects it and types in her team name. However, the screen says that first years are not allowed to take this mission.

A/N: I know it says first years, but ignore that. Ruby is a little bit older in this story by like half a year so just think of her as a second year.

"Wonderful!," Weiss said sarcastically.

"Any other ideas?," Blake asked.

"We mail ourselves there!," Ruby suggested.

Ozpin then speaks up from offscreen.

"Well, that's one option.," Ozpin said suddenly appearing.

"Unfortunately, we determined that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first-year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact, I have the sneaking suspicion that you four will make your way there no matter which job you choose.," Ozpin said chuckling.

Weiss, Blake, and Yang glare at Ruby, who nervously rubs her head.

"😅 heh- heh-heh-heh... Whatever makes you say that?," Ruby asked nervously laughing.

"I'm still curious how you all found yourself at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you really learned about a hideout in the southeast. And I certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots and rose petals in a dance club some time ago.," He said.

"Um... Well.... You see..," Ruby said even more nervous now.

" I doubt I'll ever find the exact answers I'm looking for. So how about this: instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them?," Ozpin said.

Ozpin selects some things on his scroll, and the hologram screen makes a noise. The four girls look at the screen before Ruby turns and smiles at Ozpin.

"We won't let you down. Thank you, professor.," Ruby said saluting.

"Do not thank me for this. Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the Kingdom will not care. Stay close to your Huntsman at all times, and do exactly as he says. He will be leading you on this mission, and he can have you sent back to Beacon, if he finds your skills to be unsatisfactory. Good luck.," Ozpin said.

Team Rwby turns to leave before Ozpin calls after Ruby, the others already ahead of her.

"And one more thing, miss Rose.," Ozpin said.

Ruby turned and looked towards him.

"Yes, what is it professor?," Ruby asked.

"This mission may or may not be difficult for your team and you never know what danger lurks outside the kingdom. So.. I've taken the liberty of assigning your team a pair of.. bodyguards if you will from another team.," He said.

"O.... k?," Ruby said confused.

"They are simply there to assist you when necessary,  they'll be leaving the bulk of this mission up to your team.," Ozpin told her.

Ruby nodded.

"Understood professor,  thanks for the heads up.," Ruby said.

"Don't thank me, thank the two who volunteered for this. They were.. quite adamant about it.," Ozpin said.

Ruby nodded again before running off to catch up to her teammates.

Docks

Team RWBY have left the auditorium and are on their way to the airship that will take them to Quadrant 5.

"That wasn't exactly uplifting.," Yang said.

"But it's the truth.," Blake said.

"It's gonna to be tough, but I know we can do it!,"Ruby said encouraging her teammates.

Yang smirked.

"😏 Heh, if only all of us shared your optimism Rubes.," Yang said.

A student runs past the team.

"Hey! Team CFVY is back!," a random student said.

Beacon students gather around to witness the return of Team CFVY. Blake goes up to Velvet Scarlatina.

"Velvet? Are you okay?," Blake asked in concern.

"I'm fine. I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me when he rejoined us.," Velvet said.

"Your mission was supposed to end a week ago! What happened?," Weiss asked.

"Nothing happened. It was just ... there were just so many...," Velvet said noticeably drained.

She then noticed Team Rwby's worried expressions before she continued.

"Oh, but don't worry. You guys are just shadowing Huntsmen, so you should be fine.," The rabbit faunus said before continuing on her way to join her teammates. 

"Right.,"Yang said.

" I should go. Be safe, okay?," Velvet said before walking away.

"We can do this. We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now.," Ruby said piping up.

"Right.,"Blake said in response.

"Besides, it won't only be us out there! We'll be fighting alongside a genuine Huntsman!," Ruby said pepping up her teammates.

"Yeah!," Yang said.

Bullhead landing bay

The scene immediately cuts to Team RWBY staring with various stunned expressions, having just discovered who they will be shadowing.

"Why, hello girls! Who's ready to fight for their lives?,"Oobleck asked.

No one said anything, they were in too much of a shock to respond. Oobleck was confused though, there... were supposed to be 2 more with them.

"Is.. this all of you?," He asked.

Blake finally spoke up confused at what he meant.

"Sorry, what do you mean by that professor?," Blake asked.

"Weren't there supposed to be two others with you? I was informed to expect two others.," Oobleck asked.

"Wait..," Yang said.

"Two others?," Weiss asked also confused.

A familiar voice then spoke from above them. Two very familiar figures rocketed down towards them incased in clear white auras.

"That would be us!," A voice said.

Team Rwby looks up and gets the shock of their lives as they see two familiar faces descend to the ground. The two figures were revealed to be Turuk and Nova. Ruby's eyes comically widened at this.

"😧 What the-?! Turuk.. and N- Nova?!,"Ruby asked surprised.

The scene fades as the camera cuts to black with the surprised and shocked faces of team Rwby,  but none more then Ruby.

Hey guys Novaflame6_Badal here, hopefully you guys enjoyed this chapter! Sorry it took so long to update this story! I was brainstorming about which direction I ultimately want the story to go in. Again sorry for the wait, guys!

We're getting very close to Ruby's confession to Nova, I see that happening either in the next chapter or the one following next chapter. Turuk and Yang will steadily grow closer as the story gets closer to volume 3. I'm thinking somewhere in volume 3 is when their pairing will come to fruition but.. not quite sure on the timing yet. Maybe you guys can decide, I'm open to suggestions!
