Hell Hound

Linri looked at the burning pile of meat in front of him. Now that the adrenaline had subsided he noticed how dangerous it was. The smell of burning flesh arrived at his nose and he suddenly felt nauseated.

Failing to hold himself back he turned around and hurled towards the ground. After being tortured for a week by Udcek he thought he was used to seeing corpses and body parts. He had never accounted for this putrid smell.

Linri thought about what had transpired just now. He was face to face with that giant monster. He could not help but shudder when he remembered its menacing appearance. It was 5 meters tall, had black spike like things growing out of his back like a stegosaurus, its fur was mud brown like a dirty water, claws as big as his head and sharp obsidian nails. It was a stuff of nightmares, one look and you could see the dark aura rising from it.

He was cornered, about to be killed. The giant beast was playing with his life and the only way to survive was to go against its expectations; killing it.

When the tiger was about to split him up in two, he ran towards it with his 1.5x speed. Thanks to the fact that the beast did not expect it, he was able to dodge under it and climb on to its head in a matter of seconds with his agility. He did not waste a second and rose the temperature of his arms to the highest amount possible. The moment he recalled it he felt his mouth was dry and the fact that he just vomited did not help at all.

Linri's idea was quite simple actually, since he found that he could not wound the beast with his strongest attack it was only matter of time before he was dead. So he took a risk, he bet on the fact that the inside of the animal would not be as strong as its outside. He planned to fry the brain of the tiger with the heat from his arms just like how a microwave cooked a meal. If he kept on pressing his hands the heat coming from them were bound to damage its brain.

It seemed to have worked as it started to squirm violently and tried to make him fall. Remembering this part made cold sweat drench his back. If he did not react fast enough he was about to be squashed like a bug. However this turned out to be his greatest chance, while falling down he stuck a handmade dynamite to its teeth.

The dynamite was made from the flares, bug sprays, oils and first aid equipment he found at the camp. He was lucky though because the flares in the camp turned out to be made from potassium nitrate, if it was made from strontium nitrate he would not be able to make it. He was lucky that he liked to read and that his father liked to teach him this kind of stuff.

After barely saving his skin Linri used his flame manipulation and kept the dynamite from exploding yet by controlling the fire on the fuse. He had only one chance so he had to be patient. Now that he thought about it, if it was not because of the adrenaline, he knew that he would have already wet his underpants at that moment.

His wait however was rewarded, as the tiger turned around and roared at him furiously. This tiger was definitely an idiot one of its kind, he could have just leaped at him but it chose to roar instead. Either it was too proud or too dumb, both cases worked in his favour so who cares.

The moment the beast opened its mouth Linri let the fuse run wild and explode. That was not all though, he also controlled the intensity of explosion and guided in a single direction; down. Compared to the size of the animal his dynamite was too weak but that was the best he could come up with limited resources. He solved this problem by concentrating the explosion and directing it to the beast's chin.

The result was tremendously effective, its chin was mangled and it was wailing in pain. The chin looked like a puppet without strings, just dangling there. The sight itself was gruesome but he did not have time to think about that. This was his opportunity, its mouth was wide open if he was gonna attack it from the inside this was the perfect opportunity. He directed all the flames from the chandeliers hanging from the walls and directed them inside the animal.

The animal was pitiful but Linri knew that he could not stop yet. He remembered the night before, when he first hunted a prey. It was just like the tiger before him, even though it knew that Linri could attack it with magic and even wounded, it still did not give up and ran. Instead it had chosen to attack him till its last breath. So he decided it was best to not take any risks.

'Hell Hound'

A wolf-like beast, made of fire, appeared beside him. He didn't even need to give it any orders as with just a thought it had already started to make its way towards the beast that was on the verge of death. With its 2x Exceptional speed the hell hound was before the tiger almost instantly. It didn't even show mercy and directly pierced to the brain of the tiger from inside its mouth.

Linri turned back to look at the pile of ash in front of him. He felt complicated about this battle, he had won yes but that was only because of the environment he was in. If there weren't any torches on the walls he would not be able to deal as much damage in this short time. Moreover thanks to this battle he knew that his timespan had shortened.

Then Linri saw something in the still burning corpse. It looked like a sphere and the fire could not damage it. Was this the so called Magic Core of monsters? He immediately laughed at the ridiculous thought of his. He couldn't possibly be that lucky, he came here to save his parents and this should be a trail left for prisoners. The so-called 'trial by combat', that was why he could accept being attacked by a statue but it would be illogical if there was a Magic Core. That would instead be a reward for the prisoner.

While he was still debating what it was inside his head the sphere glowed in a bright light and sucked in all the flames around it. Linri was surprised by the sudden change, what had just happened?
