Mei on Probation

Mei spent her high school summer holidays working part-time at the Jade Palace, and she quickly became a valued member of the team. She was a hard worker, always eager to learn and help out wherever she could. Cheung, who supervised her, was impressed with her dedication and enthusiasm, and he enjoyed getting to know her better.

The chef looked skeptical, but he was desperate. "Okay, I'll give it a try," he said.

The chef beamed at Mei. "You did it!" he exclaimed. "I don't know how you figured it out, but this dish is perfect."

Mei hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "It's about my future," she said. "I don't know what I want to do after high school. I'm interested in a lot of different things, but I don't know how to choose a path."

Cheung nodded understandingly. "It can be tough to decide on a career," he said. "There are so many options out there. But I think the most important thing is to do something you love."

Mei nodded, but she still looked uncertain. "I'm just not sure what that is," she said. "I like cooking, but I'm not sure if I want to go to culinary school. I like working at the Jade Palace, but I'm not sure if I want to make a career out of it."

Cheung smiled. "You don't have to decide right away," he said. "Take some time to explore your options and see what feels right for you. You have a lot of talent and potential, Mei. Whatever path you choose, I know you'll succeed."

Mei sighed, looking relieved. "Thanks, Cheung," she said. "I appreciate your advice. It's just so hard to know what to do."

Cheung patted her shoulder. "You'll figure it out," he said. "Just follow your heart and don't be afraid to take risks. That's how I ended up here at the Jade Palace, and I couldn't be happier."

Mei smiled, feeling a sense of determination wash over her. She knew that she had a lot of options, and

she was determined to explore them all. She spent the rest of the summer learning as much as she could from Cheung and the rest of the team at the Jade Palace, soaking up their knowledge and expertise. She also took the time to research different career paths and try out different hobbies and activities, hoping to discover what truly excited and fulfilled her.

As the summer came to a close, Mei was no closer to deciding on a career path. She was still interested in a variety of things, and she wasn't sure how to choose between them. On her last day of work, Mei gathered her things and headed to the host stand to say goodbye to Cheung. "I'm going to miss this place," she said, looking around at the familiar surroundings of the restaurant.
