Now even though Marcus was ready to go and all of the villagers were more then ready to have him leave yet his parents chose to have him wait a few days so they could have some time together as a family before he left. This brings us to the night of his departure from his family home and the last supper they'd have together for a long time.
Marcus had spend most of the day at the forge with his father while Joy, Rebekah and Lilly stayed at the family home preparing for the party and cooking the meal. They were working on a special feast and once they were close to being finished Rebekah slipped away to speak with the captain of the guard.
"Captain Nun can I speak with you for a minute?" asked Rebekah once she found him patrolling the front gate.
"What is it little one I'm a busy?" asked Captain Nun not being disrespectful but more concerned.
"I know you don't like Marcus Krystar and really don't want Judah to have anything to do with him but this is his last day here in the village and they are friends even though you don't agree." replied Rebekah as she followed him as he patrolled.
"Let me guess you'd like for me to let Judah go to some kind of going away party for Marcus?" asked Captain Nun with out any sign of letting up.
"Sir please it would mean a lot to Judah to be able to say good bye to his friend as well as have one last meal with him." replied Rebekah with a special charming smile.
"Wow, using my son to get me to do what you want. That's low blow I also see your point and will allow him to go but this is only something between us. I don't want him or Marcus to know I'm okay with this. Understood?" replied Captain Nun turning and kneeling to look her in the eyes.
"I understand sir." replied Rebekah with a smile before turning to leave only to pause and add, "Thanks sir."
Rebekah then rushed off to Judah's place to go invite him to the party and was running so fast she'd almost ran right into Judah who's just opened the door to get some fresh air. Luckily he'd seen her coming and was able to brace himself as well as catch her to prevent them both from crashing to the ground.
"Were's the fire?" teased Judah with a smile.
"Sorry Judah I just figured I'd rush over and see if you wanted to come to Marcus' going away party. Tomorrow morning me, my mother, Marcus and Mr. Krystar are heading into the city where he'll be enrolling Marcus into the mage academy and the three of us will be living with my grandfather above his bookshop." explained Rebekah with a half smile. "It'd mean a lot to Marcus if you came."
"I don't know my father really doesn't like when I hang around him even though Marcus is my best friend." replied Judah with a sigh.
"Oh." sighed Rebekah about to leave.
"Why so gloomy Rebekah dear?" asked Judah's mother who was a young attractive female wolf with sparkling blue eyes and blond almost golden fur.
"Oh I was just coming over to invite Judah over to a party for Marcus since he'll be leaving the village for who knows how long exactly in the morning." sighed Rebekah with a smile before adding, "But since Captain Nun doesn't like them hanging out Judah declined the invite is all."
"Well I think it will be good for both of them to get the chance to say good bye as for Captain Grumpy Tail I'll deal with him when he gets home so you two run off to that party." replied Mrs. Nun.
"Thanks Mrs. Nun!" replied Rebekah as she took ahold the of Judah's paw and half dragged him off to the Krystar home where the other's were still getting ready.
Shortly after everyone had arrived and the food was ready they all gathered in the dinning area of the little house and shared in a meal as well as a time of laughter and joy. It was perfect and Judah was nervous not because of what his father might say or do but because of what he was about to do.
You see once the meal was over the three kids slipped out to the porch to talk and play. For the most part Rebekah did the talking since she was excited to be surrounded by tons of books again. That is until Judah finally got up the nerves to change the subject.
"Marcus you're not going to forget about me are you?" asked Judah as he looked at his feet. "I mean Rebekah is going with you so there is no reason for you to forget about her but this is the last time we'll see each other in years."
"Judah you are my best friend I could never forget about you." replied Marcus with a smile, "Besides you'll always have the pendent I gave you so you'll always have something to remember me by. Plus when we get older who knows what the gods have planned for us."
"Yah you're right I guess." sighed Judah still not looking up at them.
"I know, Judah why don't you give Marcus something to remember you by." replied an excited Rebekah.
"Really?" asked Judah slowly turning to face them with puppy dog eyes and frown.
"Yes lay on me what you got." replied Marcus with a smile.
Now neither him nor Rebekah were really ready for what happened next. For almost without thinking and before Marcus could change his mind Judah leaped at him and gave him the most passion filled kiss either of them had ever seeing. He the sat back and smiled like the happy little puppy he was With his eyes sparkling and tail wagging joyfully from side to side.
