Chapter 15. Is it a coincidence this time?

Stephan left the Dever's manor in a fit. He knew his grandma wanted him to get married but he wasn't happy that she was just going to let every rat and cockroach to get in. He had his own plans. He was going to get married when he wanted.

As the driver ignited the engine and swerved left and right, he reminded him to take the detour around Royale. He needed to check up on her.

Within few minutes, they arrived at Royale. The lights were turned off. Everywhere was dark.

"Sir, it seems there's no one in the building", Jack said.

"Yes. Let's go", Stephan said. Seems like she left earlier today, he said in his mind.

They had just driven for what seemed like twenty minutes when they got to witness the speeding spree of a black Porsche.

"What's going on with that driver? Is he mad?", Jack mouthed. Stephan had also noticed the car. He didn't care about it and took it as one of those drunk drivers. However, on a second look, he noticed that the car seemed familiar. It didn't seem like it, it was it.

"Follow that car", he ordered. Jack stepped on the accelerator and did as he was told.

"It seems like the car's brakes have failed".

"Don't miss it. Try to be in the same lane with it and check out the driver", he added.

"Yes boss".

Jack drove as he was told, and with great expertise of having driven for so many years, he stood on the same lane with the racing car. Jack saw the driver. He felt his heart thump when he saw who it was. He knew that his boss had quite a thing with the woman inside the car

"Who's it?", Stephan asked

"It's Miss Zhang".

Stephan's heart skipped a hard beat as fear overwhelmed him. What the hell?! Why's her car running like a headless chicken?!

Jack nearly jumped when he saw his boss come to the front of the car.

"Halt the car!", he nearly screamed.

Jack halted abruptly. "Boss",

"I need you to get me the ambulance to this place, also look into this".

" Yes boss!". Immediately, Jack got off the car. As soon as Jack got down, Stephan stepped on the accelerator and raced afte her. His heart was thumping in his chest. He saw the way the car was headed and took a roundabout. There was a roadway after the roundabout and it's as quite late so no one would get injured.

He raced to that direction and waited for her to arrive. And soon, he heard the loud collision and everything became quiet again.

Does peace come with pain?, he asked within himself. Must one suffer for them to get what they've always longed for? If he hadn't been here, perhaps her quietude would bring him grief. He was going to do anything for her. After that year, he never knew that he would ever meet her again. He never knew that he would have to save her. He had finally recognized her when he saw those medicines in her bag that night.

"Hey", a hoarse voice called, followed by a knock on his window. Stephan looked up and saw that it was Leilani. There were tears in her eyes and she was pretty scared.

He saved her the stress and alighted from the car.

Leilani gasped the moment Stephan alighted the car. "You? Again?"

"What do you mean again? I saved your life baby girl".

Leilani would have blushed but this wasn't the time to go about such things. "Why would you stay there? You could have just left".

"Are you normal?", he asked when he was done looking her over. She kept silent. "Every normal person would be grateful for saving their lives but you're just asking me questions".

"You'd get hurt. I don't want someone getting hurt because of me".

"Don't worry. If anyone got hurt, we'll treat it. As long as you're okay, that's all that matters ".

When she heard this, tears streamed down her cheeks as she bursted into another wave of tears. Someone was going to risk their life for her? She didn't even have time to think of the coincidence.

"Thank you for this time".

"You're welcome".

The ambulance finally arrived and they were administered some pain relief medications. The police was also there. After the duo wer me done with their treatment, the police came forward to question them.

"How did this happen?", the older police officer asked Leilani.

"I don't know. I was just driving and suddenly my car began racing crazily".

"When was the last time you took your car for maintenance?"

"The day before yesterday".

The police scribbled something on the notepad.

"That's ok. We'll look into it more".

"Yes officer. Please do".

" Sure".

The police and the ambulance finally left.

Stephan was waiting for her. "You done?", he asked when he saw her walking to where he was.

"Yes. They said they would look into it".

" Ok". They walked to the bustop as their cars were in a mess.

"But", Leilani began. "Is it a coincidence that you appeared at this time too?"
