This story is being rewritten. All the chapters with (Edited) on them have already been rewritten and edited. I also advise all the old readers to go back and read it again. A lot of things have changed. ... What would happen if Shinji Koganei started playing basketball at a young age? Well, that's what we're discussing in this story. It is just that this Koganei has memories of his past life and improved physical talent. How would such a man fare against talented players like the generation of miracles, Shinichi Maki, Hisashi Mitsui, and Kenji Natsume? I guess we're about to find out.
AN__: This is a more realistic look into the KnB world. Nobody will shoot 100% from the three-point line every game, but they will be more talented than the players they face. You can see the generation of miracles as high-school Lebron, Garnett, Zion, Lonzo, etc. They might not be able to compare with those people, but that's how it feels to the other Japanese high-school players.
Also, I'll throw in some capable characters from other basketball shows like Slam Dunk, Ahiru no Sora, Switch, Deep 3, etc. I will also create some talented original players, but not too many of them. However, there will be a lot of original characters among the decent to bad players.
Another thing, let me explain the premise of this story. The main character is Shinji Koganei, but as he was born, he received the memories of one of his previous lives where he was a talented basketball player.
Those memories affected how he acted and made him pick up basketball earlier. So, it is still Shinji Koganei with the same personality but has a few more traits than the original. He also has a strong love for basketball and started playing at age two.
PS: If you're a new reader, this story is being rewritten at this moment. So, don't mind the inconsistencies.

'I still can't believe it!' Thought Shinji, getting up from his bed. A couple of days had passed since his team lost in the semifinals of the Inter-High tournament (national) against Shoei Junior High, and the memories of the game were still flashing through his mind.
'I didn't know Kiyoshi would be this good at this point.' He mused, scratching the back of his head while thinking about how the tall teenager scored 28 points on them. They didn't have a Center that could defend him, making them vulnerable to his post play and Shoei's coach took advantage of that. Although they tried to double-team and everything, Kiyoshi could always find the open man thanks to his height and vision.
Koganei didn't do too badly, scoring 23 of his team's 61 points. However, it wasn't enough to lead his team to victory. Still, since nobody on their team could defend against Kiyoshi, they ended up losing the game. 'If I had been a little taller, maybe I would have taken the task.' He mused, smiling while getting up from his bed.
Shinji currently stood at 178 cm tall and played as the Shooting Guard of Yuuki Junior High. He is the scorer and the best defensive player on his team, a perfect two-way player at this level of basketball. However, his playing style was too one-dimensional.
"Why have I never worked on my shooting?" He asked himself, feeling rather strange. During these semi-finals, although Shoei couldn't stop him from scoring, they effectively isolated him and made him play 1v1 the whole game. They never tried to double-team him because he had excellent vision (due to the experience he gained through the memories) and could pass the ball to the open man. However, they knew he could barely shoot, thus clogging the paint whenever he drove to the basket while blocking his passing lanes, forcing him to take heavily contested shots every time.
It's not that he didn't have any solutions to break out of that cycle, but his skillset as a pure slasher couldn't allow him to get out of that situation.
'I'm getting there, though!' He thought, smiling as he walked toward the bathroom. He's 15 years old and a senior in Yuuki Junior High School's basketball team. He is also the vice-captain of the team after turning down the opportunity to become the captain at the beginning of the season.
A couple of days earlier, he started working on his mid-range and three-point shooting and has made a lot of progress.
His shooting form isn't a problem since he had used the most standard, text-book-like form since he was a child playing in the youth league. So, he only needed repetition to build muscle memory.
"For about a week, I have been taking 300 mid-range and 200 three-pointers a day." He started, thinking of the process of his various workouts before smiling. "That shooting machine my dad bought me is helping me complete that a lot faster, to be honest." He said, nodding his head in appreciation.
"After a month of training, I might not be able to shoot like Hisashi, but I would be a threat from both the mid-range and the three-point line." He said, smiling while thinking about how his playing style would change with this addition to his offensive arsenal.
Since he was a little child, Koganei could always have a feeling of where his various skills stood. Currently, he knows that his ball-handling and finishing at the rim abilities were already at the top of the Junior High level. However, both his mid-range and three-point shooting were at the bottom of the Junior-high level of basketball.
Thinking to that point, he shook his head and came out of the bathroom after doing his toiletries. Walked toward his study table, he unplugged his iPhone 5s, glancing at the time and the date displayed on the top of the screen.

"There is one month left before school starts again. I can train myself to be a decent shooter during that time." Spoke Shinji, while glancing over the training plan his Junior High coach made for him before going on vacation.
Since he started about a week ago, he has seen some results as his shooting percentage from the mid-range has increased. Still, he had to do a lot more. "Maybe if I become a good shooter, we will be able to win this year's Winter Cup. Well, I hope we do." Smiling at his words, Shinji got up and walked out of his bedroom.
Shinji Koganei comes from an upper-middle-class family. They can't be considered super wealthy, but they are comfortable. They don't need to stress about anything financially. The two parental figures of the family have worked enough for both of their children to continue living without working too hard.
They reside in a two-story villa in Ebisu, Tokyo, a friendly place to live for students at any level. The neighborhood seemed to have everything, allowing the residents to avoid going far to buy things they might need.
"Is breakfast ready?" Asked Shinji as soon as he came down the stairs. His mother, Hirano Koganei, exited the kitchen after she heard her baby's voice. With a kind smile, she beckoned to Shinji.
"Not yet, but it's almost done." She responded before pointing at the dining table. "Take the plates and clean them. We're going to eat soon." She finished, rushing back to the kitchen, knowing that Shinji would perfectly complete the task.
...
A couple of minutes later, the family of four sat around the dining table and started eating while conversing with each other. Any outsider would feel deep jealousy upon seeing the harmoniousness of the Koganei household. However, the eldest child had to spoil Shinji's good mood.
"Hey, you've been doing nothing these past few days. Don't you need to find a hobby? Otherwise, you might grow fat before your next semester starts." She eloquently spoke, not even looking at her brother, before putting a piece of bacon into her mouth.
Seeing the condescending smile on her sister's face, Shinji had the urge to slap it off her face. However, their parents were present, so he could not make that move. However, he responded, a slight smirk on his face.
"Don't worry about me. I have been training all this time." He slowly started, gaining the attention of his sister. "However, last night, I walked past your room and saw that big belly you got. I was scared. I almost thought you were pregnant." He countered, the smirk not leaving his face.
Since they were little kids, Shinji and Akane have always had a great relationship, and it won't change anytime soon. Still, their habit of making fun of each other and trying to set each other up in front of their parents will be the one thing that will never change.
"How about you come with me later since you're not busy with anything? I'll be training on the basketball court in the gym. My shooting machine is there, after all." Shinji continued with relish as he noticed his sister's expression getting uglier.
.
"Alright, Shinji! You can stop teasing your sister now." Seeing his daughter's expression getting uglier, Tsuji Koganei, the family's father figure, spoke to diffuse the embarrassment while trying his best not to laugh out loud. However, he didn't stop and looked at Akane Koganei, his daughter, before speaking. "You need to lose weight. How could you find a boyfriend with a body like that?" He finished and looked at Hirano for support.
Seeing her husband's look, Hirano's expression tightened, ready to cry at any moment, as she added. "I'm already 45 years old, and I still haven't held my grandchildren while most of my friends are grandmothers. Do you how embarrassing it is for me whenever I go out with them and they start talking about the happiness of being a grandma?" She said, tears threatening to fall down her cheeks.
Of course, she was acting. Akane and everybody in the family knew that she was acting. However, they couldn't help marveling at how real she made it seem. Akane, of course, didn't feel that way as she showed the unwillingness her stubborn character allowed her to possess. Few people could make her bend to their will if she didn't want to. She's that stubborn and strong-minded.
Seeing his sister's unwilling expression, Shinji decided to get involved. "Who would want to marry her with a body like that? They'd be scared out of their mind as soon as they see her up close." He spoke, not even looking at Akane.
"I have a good idea! How about she start training with Shin? It would be a good workout for her." Hirano's face suddenly brightened as she glanced at Akane. Noticing her daughter's unwilling gaze on her, she continued. "You're going to follow your brother later. You can't find a man with a body like that. When I was your age, I ran five kilometers every day. How do you think I got married so early? Plus..." She started telling stories of her past. To Shinji and Akane, most of those stories sounded like fantasy. However, they couldn't help but pay attention as they didn't want to be chastised by her later.
Plus, she was the only one who could force them to do things they didn't want to.
In the end, with a wave of Hirano's slipper (shoes), Akane was forced to train with her hateful and arrogant little brother.

"Are you trying to kill me?" Asked Akane as she slumped on the floor, too tired to sit down properly. Seeing his sister like that, Shinji smiled while continuing his personal workout.
"That's it for today. Doing too much will only lower your enthusiasm about exercising. We can upgrade your training intensity every week from now on." Said Koganei before he started focusing on his training, aiming to finish as soon as possible.
"Since when were you this knowledgeable?" Suddenly asked Akane, perplexed that had this much knowledge on physical training. She was used to seeing the friendly, talkative, and ignorant Shinji. Of course, she has seen a serious, almost professional Shinji before, but that was on the basketball court during games while she was in the stands. This was her first time seeing it up close.
Hearing her words, Shinji looked at his sister and answered, a smile on his face.
"I'm an athlete. Of course, I would research the things I'm involved in. The internet exists for a reason. Plus, I have been hanging out with Coach Kimura a lot these days. That old man knows a lot." Seeing his sister nod with a 'you're not wrong!' expression, Shinji sighed and stopped moving. He finished his fitness workout and was about to improve his basketball skills, starting with the basics. "Can you wait for me? I need someone to help with this next workout." He asked, glancing at Akane, who readily accepted the offer. She's glad to help her baby brother, after all.
Although they argue and fight a lot, they still depend on each other.

"You lost 8 kg in two weeks. You tried very hard, didn't you?" Spoke Shinji as he looked at Akane, who was on the balance, with a proud expression. Looking at the number shown by the balance, he continued. "You're currently 65kg. That's a good weight for a woman measuring around 175 cm. Now, we need to strengthen you since you reached your ideal weight. I want to see at least a four-pack within a year." He finished, nodding at the reduced belly. He doesn't have to worry about whether she's pregnant from now on.
"Alright. You're the professional, so I'll follow whatever you say." She said, excited that she had lost weight in only two weeks. If she returned to her friends, they would be surprised to see her proud figure.
"Thank you for trusting me!" Shinji answered and smiled while Akane checked herself out in the big mirror, completely ignoring him.
A few minutes later, they both exited the house and started jogging toward the gym that was near their house. That specific gym also had a basketball court on it, making Koganei's favorite spot to train, especially in the morning when nobody was there.
After the initial rejection, Akane started enjoying working out very much, to the point where Shinji didn't have to supervise her anymore. Now, they can do their thing inside the gym without disturbing each other. That made Shinji enjoy working out with his sister even more. Compared to some of his friends at Yuuki Junior High, she doesn't disturb him whenever he tries to concentrate on his workout.
