Leylin looked at Mei with a soft smile before asking, "Mei, have you completed the task I assigned? Did you face any challenges along the way?" Mei responded casually, "Nope, everything went smoothly. I took care of it."
"What task was it?" inquired the members of the Lin family as they arrived at the location, settled in, and joined in observing the sky.
"He tasked me with recruiting medical practitioners, acupuncturists, herbalists, and potion makers—a group of non-combat personnel from various army units," shared Mei.
"Wow! Did they agree to join?" Ying inquired.
"At first, they declined, but once I mentioned that they would not be involved in combat and would receive a fair payment, they quickly agreed. Perhaps they were wary of the frontlines," Mei explained.
Zhi interjected, "Who in their right mind would deploy medical practitioners to the frontlines? That's absurd!"
"Ying, I entrust them to your care since you have experience with herbs and potions," Lin ordered.
Ying nodded in agreement as they gazed at the sky. Mei then turned to Lin and asked, "Lin, there are many rumors spreading throughout the Middle Kingdom. We know that you used Hui to spread them. I can understand spreading your fame and defaming zhao because of underhanded methods they used , but why did you spread rumors about general Riboku being impotent? Is there a particular reason, or do you simply hate him for indirectly causing the death of Ouki-sama?" Mei questioned Lin with a serious expression, awaiting Lin's response eagerly.
All of them gazed intently at Lin, awaiting his reply. "Guys, the Great General Ri Boku is not an ordinary commander. He has outsmarted many brilliant individuals, including even Ou Ki, the renowned General of Qin. I see him as a significant obstacle in my path, and that's why I exaggerate his capabilities in every possible way. Great General Ri Boku possesses profound wisdom in warfare; his diplomacy and military strategies are on another level. We may not be on par with him currently; no general is as strategic as he is," Lin explained, raising his hands towards the sky.
"However, he is ultimately human and thus susceptible to emotions. One emotion that can cloud judgment is anger. Even if the Great General Ri Boku devises a strategic plan against us, if his anger leads him to make a slight mistake, I believe I can overcome that obstacle and defeat him," Lin declared, clenching his fist with determination.
"So, you targeted the most sensitive topic that can provoke anger in a man. Boy, you struck where Ri Boku would feel the most pain," remarked Mei, as they all burst into laughter at the rumors and tales circulating about it.
While they were enjoying the scenery, a message arrived. Lin read the message, stood up, and turned to his teammates. "Guys, let's go. It's time to recruit new strong comrades," he announced, signaling a new chapter of their journey.
