Chapter 6: Son of Ruby

Elisse's POV

The three of us run down to the first floor. Venice wants us to go around the school. I just hope no one is around this time.

Finally, we are here on the first floor. And gasping for breath. Why didn't Venice just think of teleporting?

"I think we should just have teleported." Said Venice. Why did she just think of that now?

"Oh? What are we going to do? Let's just stand here?" Suzy asked Venice.

"Try it. Let's go around. We haven't been to some places here yet. Let's go to the library. Oh, just to the Dining Hall. But I'm still full. In the Mirror room! Or in the Spell Laboratory!" Venice exclaimed.

"Let's start at the nearest. Let's go to the Library." Said Suzy.

The library is only here on the first floor so we just walked. As I thought, we were the only ones roaming around the school. The students are all in their respective dorm rooms.

And here we are. Standing in front of the big red door. Suzy opened the big door and we entered. Only high bookshelves are here and full of books!

It is the Library right, Elisse?

It is not just ordinary books are here. These are flying books!

"Oh my gosh! Why didn't I know there was something like this here?" Venice asked.

"Shhh!" A librarian reprimanded us.

"Sorry." Venice said softly to the librarian.

We sat at a vacant table. We are really the only ones inside here. Venice was so stubborn. So here we are today.

"I'll just find a book to read." I told them.

I went to the nearest bookshelf in our spot. There are a lot of bookshelves and countless books in here. It is difficult to find a book.

And finally, it took me a while to find what I could read but I did find something. Its cover is black but has no title written on it. Strange.

I took that book and went back to our table. Venice and Suzy are also reading a book. I would like to ask them what kind of book I am holding. But I might just disturb them.

I opened the book and started reading it.

"Dark Shadow." That's probably the title.

I turned the page. I saw a woman in black dress with a black butterfly in her hand. Well, that's just a drawing. But surprisingly, it doesn't even have a description. Even a letter.

I looked at the next page. It's a black butterfly. Now, there is a description.

"The black butterfly is the symbol of the Dark Shadow." That's all written.

It is difficult to understand. I just put that book back on the bookshelf. I don't understand a single thing. I don't even know what the Dark Shadow is.

"Elisse, let's go to the Spell Laboratory." Said Venice.

"All right." I said.

We left the library quietly. We went  upstairs to the second floor. As we walked down the corridor of the second floor, this Venice suddenly entered a room. She did not even knock on the door.

"Good morning pixies!" Said Venice. Pixies? Who is Venice talking to? I don't see anything or anyone.

"Pixies. They are the little creatures. They are alike to fairies but they do not transform into human." Suzy explained.

Ah, so where are the pixies here?

Suddenly something appeared in front of me. Wait? What is this?

"Hi!" She says.

I suddenly stepped back and accidentally fell down.

"G-Ghost!" My hand trembled as I pointed to the little winged girl.

I'll admit it, she's cute but that's really a ghost!

"Elisse! You're scaring her." Said Venice. The little girl was in Venice's hands.

"Are you crazy?! That thing will possess you!" I said.

Venice approached me.

"Don't come near me! That ghost might possess me!" I said.

"Hey, chill girl. She's just a pixie. She's so cute. Hihihi." Said Venice. I calmed down a bit. Okay, that's just a pixie. Not a ghost. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

"Here, look." Said Venice. She brought her hand close to me.

I saw a little girl laying down in Venice's hand. Is she dead? Oh no. I think it's my fault. I started to cry. I killed a cute creature.

"Oh? Why are you crying there?" Venice asked.

"I didn't mean to. Forgive me." I said while crying.

"Huh? What did you even do?" Suzy asked.

"I didn't mean to kill this cute little creature. If you're mad at me, you can kill me. I deserve to be killed. Huhuhuhu!" I just cried a lot more. I know they are angry with me.

"Huh? Gosh! Stop it. It is still alive, don't dramatize too much." Suzy told me.

"Aren't you angry?" I asked the two of them.

Venice nodded. "Nope."

"Well, I'm angry. You're overreacting to the pixie. You're reminding me of Harold." Suzy rolled her eyes at me.

"Ehem. Shouldn't I be the one who remembers Harold?" Venice asked Suzy.

"Hmph! Whatever." Suzy told Venice.

"Tss. Oh, the pixie is awake." Said Venice.

The pixie was just staring at the three of us.

Awww. She's really cute! So adorable.

"H-Hi? I'm sorry for what I said earlier. You don't even look like a ghost. Hehe." I told her.

She blinked at me three times. Waaaah! So cute.

"Princess Jewel? Why did your hair color changed?" She asked me.

She called me Princess Jewel?

"I'm not Princess Jewel. I'm Elisse." I told her.

"Oh. I'm sorry, Miss Elisse." She says. I just smiled because of her adorableness.

"What's your name, little fella?" I asked her.

"Uhm, I'm Dixie. I'm a pixie from Pixie Garden." She says.

Really? There is a Fairy Garden and then there is also a Pixie Garden?

"Is that a secret place like Fairy Garden?" I asked Dixie.

"Nope. Actually, there are so many people coming to Pixie Garden to see a real pixie. We only appear sometimes or when our owner summons us." She says.

Woah, I hope to see that place real soon.

"I'm leaving. I'll be back to Pixie Garden first. Seems like Miss Venice doesn't need anything from me. Bye!" She said and she suddenly disappeared.

"She's cute!" Said Venice. "My pixie is so cute!"

"Well anyway, let's go to the Dining Hall. I'm starving." Venice added.

We went out to the Spell Laboratory.

As we went out of the Spell Laboratory, I did not expect anyone to pull me. I run with the person pulling me. Who is this? Is he a mushroom? Just will suddenly appear out of nowhere? I could not shout. Crap. Venice and Suzy might kill me. Where are we going? We've been running like forever. My feet are numb.

And finally! We also stopped running. Seriously, it is really difficult to go upstairs while running.

Where are we? Why is it nice here? What is this place?

"Welcome to the rooftop." The man who dragged me earlier said.

I almost forgot someone dragged me away from Suzy and Venice.

"My feet are hurt because of you!" I shouted at him. He turned to me and he even managed to smile?

"I just want to know you more, Elisse." He says. Does he know me? Come on... Oh! He was the one who saved me from the Black Wings.

"Yes. I'm the one who saved you." He said.

"How did you know—"

"I can read anyone's mind." He says. Woah. That's cool.

"I am Prince Harold Ruby. Son of Ruby family." He says. I felt awkward all of a sudden.

"Let's sit down first." I said. We sat on a bench.

This rooftop is big. There seems to be no wall. Are you stupid, Elisse? That's why it's called rooftop.

"This rooftop has a wall. You can't see it because it's made of magic. Invisible wall in other words." He explained.

"Ah, now I know." I said even though I didn't really know anything.

It feel so lonely here. There are not too many designs. Just a gold statue in the middle surrounded by white tulips and five benches. Speaking of gold statue, it was Princess Jewel's statue. She's pretty. What does she look like in person? I have never seen her in person.

Do I really look like her?
