Might Makes Right

A few weeks have passed. Alice had marked her calendar as the last day of March. She was measuring her height, weight, and body with Belle and Taiyo.

Belle took the measuring tape off Alice's body. "And your measurements are now 99, 73, 97."

"Dang girl. When did you put all that icing on that cake of yours?" Taiyo said smugly.

Belle walked away with the measurements. She went off to create a new suit for Alice. She loved her white and gold dress, but she wanted to have another set of clothes. One more cozy and combat-oriented. So, Belle was gonna make her one. Now, it was just Taiyo and Alice. Alice started to put her clothes back on and Taiyo walked her outside after she finished.

"On September 5th of your senior year, you'll have an exchange tournament where you'll be battling with keepers from America and China."

"Sensei, I have a question."

"Ok, let it release no climax."

"Why do you just let Star run around?"

"Oh, well I thought you'd eventually ask that. To be honest, there is more to it than the immediate consequences of our battle. I already told you we destroyed the earth last time because we irreversibly fucked up the earth's atmosphere, but even if that didn't happen the cost is too great."

"What cost?"

"Two things. One, Star has a massive harem of 200 women who worship him like a god, and beyond that, he has thousands and thousands of followers. The problem is most of his wives and many of his worshippers are in high positions of power across the globe. I'm talking prime ministers, popes, queens, and basically any government position you can think of. He essentially controls the world government and the world military. Beyond just that, he has an equal amount of control over the medical, education, athletic, and business fields of the world. Simply put, if you kill Star, you kill the world, because one of his wives is a keeper with the active skill soul link. This makes it so that if Star dies, all of his followers and worshippers also die. And the world is cooked at that point. Society will lose nearly all of its leaders and it will be a war between humans to claim those positions. You know how humans are. If I were to kill Star, which would already be difficult enough as is, billions of people will inevitably die."

"Why did you even let him get that strong?"

"Because he's zenith class, and as I said before, zenith classes are untouchable by the government and the Skyfall Dance society. Honestly, if I wasn't so lazy, I'd probably do the same thing he did."

"That's... not a good system."

"Might makes right. The strongest is who determines what is right and wrong. It's also why Star has convinced himself he's a god. He's also psychopathic and reckless. If we were to go after him, he could do things like shut down all medical services across the world, make education illegal, declare WW3, or even expose keeper society to the world."

"... What would you say if I did care and I wanted to kill him anyways? Would you stop me?"

"No. As I said, might makes right. As of now, you stand no chance against him. But if you were to rise to zenith class and grow more experienced, you would have the strength to do whatever you want with no consequences. As I said, my job is only to grow you as keepers. What you chose to do after is none of my business. We are beings of desires and goals. A keeper's job is to kill anomalies. Their purpose is to burn down anything that stands in the way of their dreams. You're the same. You want to protect your friends, so you try to kill those to try to hurt them."

Meanwhile, Yoshi was out on a solo mission for the first time in months. This was his aether class promotion mission. He walked through a rainforest while the rain dropped down like bullets. He followed the tracks in the ground.

"If I do this, I'll be able to stand with Alice. I don't want her to stand at the top alone. Plus, I need to get my sister off my back."

Yoshi clapped his hands and stopped all the rain within a few meters from him. In front of him, he saw the anomaly. It was a giant peacock, around 5 feet. It had a diamond marking on its neck. It had giant tail feathers and its body was purple and blue with the markings on its tail feathers being green and black. It wore a long white robe held with a white belt. It also had metal talons. Despite the rain, its feathers were completely dry.

Yoshi began to condense the water into spears and launched them at the anomaly. The peacock slid two twin blades out from its robes and slashed the water spears in half. It charged at and Yoshi drew on his sword.

Later that day, Yoshi brought the head of the peacock back to his sister's office. He placed it on her desk, confirming his kill. Willow shooed him away, calling him a slacker and annoyance.

Later, Yoshi went to a forest a few miles away from the school. He took his shirt off and took off his mask. He drew his sword and practiced swinging it repeatedly. He stood out here for several hours, training with his katana till his hands and feet were blistering and ragged. He eventually passed out after the intense training with no breaks.

As he was about to head back, Pinoy found him.

"What happened to you?" Pinoy asked with interest in his voice.

"Alice is growing stronger... very, very quickly. It's nearly impossible for me to keep up. She's already breezing through paradox class while I just got to aether. She'll reach zenith soon... I just don't want to drag her down. I need to grow stronger. That way, I can stand by her side at the top."

"But you never will. You know that right? That woman is abnormally strong. I doubt any of us could hope to match her strength."

"You might be right, but there's no harm in trying. It's my desire to protect her. And if not, at least fight alongside her."

"Well, whatever."

"Hey, Pinoy, why have you been going on so many solo missions? You've been doing so for several months now. We're supposed to be a team."

"..."

Pinoy ignored Yoshi's question. Instead, he just walked away without saying another word. Yoshi covered up his bruises and also went back to the academy.
