CHAPTER THIRTY: Double weakness

Jack's Pov

I smile happily to myself that i got the job done without giving the bad guys a penny.

Then suddenly the thought hit me. I slowly turn to Maureen, my face suddenly hard and my hands clenched.

" How do you get kidnapped ? " I asked her in a low tone.

She stare at me uneasily before looking away.

" Jack... I went out to ..." She stopped short when she noticed my glare.

" But i told you not to step out ... Didn't i ? "

She quickly nodded fearfully.

" Yes you did but i received ... " She couldn't continue because i held up a hand to stop her.

I walk out of her room to the living room where Logan and his two men are waiting.

As usual they are covered in blood and bruises. I feel sad for them, i opened the brief case i have dropped on the couch when i raced to Maureen's room.

" Boss are you okay? " Logan asked when he noticed my grim expression.

I shook my head slowly.

" Here " i extended bundle of dollars to him.

He received it happily but slowly.

" Boss you're giving us more than necessary this days " he said and i smile at him.

" Because you guys deserve it " the two men laugh in delight.

" Call us anytime boss and be careful. I think the mikes means business " Logan said and i nodded.

The three went out and i stare into space.

Of course, the Mikes meant business but if , just only if Maureen has listen to me from the beginning i wouldn't be in this mess.

Normally i knew the conflict between the families started when my father died but Maureen getting involved with Zach Mike makes my blood boil.

She never listen to me and that makes me very mad.

I picked my cellphone and call Jill.

The cellphone buzz for a while before it was picked.

" Jill? " I said when no one speak.

" No Jack, it's Lorie her fashionista. She left in haste to meet zach Mike " I heard Lorie says.

The cellphone dropped from my hand and i gritted my teeth.

I Scoffed to myself.

Jill too just disobey.

Why would she visit Zach Mike after that one abuse her?

Why would she visit him when i told her not to?

I saw Han descending the stairs towards me.

" Jack, please go easy with Maureen. I know she's at fault for disobeying you "

I look at han and smile.

" Thanks a lot for today han, you have anger Mike in so much ways. The men you fought with to rescue Maureen would surely report you to him so i think you should stay here for today till i find a way "

He smile to me gratefully and i turn to walk into my room but the entrance door open suddenly.

I stare at it to see jill came in.

" Where's Maureen? Is she safe " she asked me but I did not reply.

" She's fine, in her room right now " i heard Han replied her.

Just then Maureen descend the stairs , walking towards me slowly.

" Jack I'm sorry " she said to me in a sober tone.

I glare at her and i did not bother to keep my temper in check.

" Is that all you could say? What if something bad has happened to you ? " I asked her quietly.

She avoided my eyes trembling in fear.

" Jack that's enough, let's be happy that she's safe right now " Jill said and i turned to her with a cold stare in response.

" Are you taking her side now? Where are you coming from ? " I asked her and she shifted uncomfortably staying mute.

" No answer ? " I asked her and she look away. I shut my eyes thinking why on Earth has this two stubborn women makes me so worried.

I walk to my room without saying anything.

I could hear Maureen muttering but i didn't bother to listen to her.

I sat on my bed tiredly before burying my face in the hollow of my palm sighing.

I undress before going into the bathroom.

I get into the shower letting the cold water pour over my face and shoulder until the water gradually warm.

I stayed there longer than necessary.

I got out of the bathroom without clothes to see Jill standing by the doorway staring at my body lustfully.

" Oh ... I .. am sorry, i will come back later " She said stammaring.

I didn't reply her, my jaw clenched and i got busy getting my hair dry with a towel.

Suddenly but slowly i felt her hand on my back. I walk away breaking off the physical contact and i get into my nighty.

" Jack I'm sorry " She said when i climbed onto bed but I still, did not reply.

She sighed softly clearly clueless on how to appease me.

She should have known better than going against my words.

She come unto the bed as well facing me as she sat.

" Okay, I'm at fault. I'm truly sorry. I know i shouldn't have disobey you but then Zach Mike called me. He said Maureen is with him , that's why i race over thinking Maureen is there "

I finally gave her my attention.

" You thought Maureen is with him ? " I asked with a voice devoid of romance or passion.

" Yes, Jack I'm sorry " she replied innocently.

I look away resting my head on the pillow.

" I have heard you. I would like to sleep now " i said to her.

I turn my back at her laying down on my side.

I was extremely mad at her for going off without telling me.

I Know vividly well that i am getting attached to her. I love her and I'm sure she knows.

If anything bad has happened to her... i did not even want to think about it.

" Jack " She called and i turn to look at her.

She bit her lower lips and i get the message.

She's trying hard not to cry.

" Let it out " i said.

She blinked and sniffed looking away.

I held out a hand to her cheek and she breath softly.

She bent down bringing her mouth closer to mine, waiting for me to take the lead.

" I'm not going to kiss you, I won't make love to you " i said and her eyes flipped wide open in shock.

" Jack "

" That's your punishment for disobeying me " i told her before walking out of my room.
