Hanging out

The early morning sun shines beautifully through the clouds. Birds chirp and people make their way down the streets. In a nearby park, Yon sits with his sister Kanna, waiting for his friends to go shopping.

Yon yawns. "They sure are late."

Kanna sits, smiling and humming to herself cheerfully. Yon looks over at her, wondering how she is so lively this early in the morning. He pulls out his phone to check the time.

"Eight fifty-five... Where is everyone?"

The brother and sister wait longer when a familiar voice surprises them.

"Yon!"

Yon turns to see Lincoln, Sam, and Kareen walking toward him.

"You guys sure took your time," Yon says, a little annoyed.

Lincoln rubs his head and chuckles a little. "Yeah, sorry about that. Sam had a last-minute invitation to give out."

Yon looks at Kareen for a moment before standing up to introduce himself properly. Kareen looks intrigued as Yon stands confidently in front of her.

"I don't think I ever introduced myself properly last time." Yon bows slightly towards Kareen. "I'm Yon Kinichi, but just call me Yon."

Kareen smiles. "No need for formalities! I'm Kareen Kanata, but as I told you before, just call me Kareen."

Yon blushes a little and stands back straight. "Right."

Kareen looks behind Yon at his little sister, "So, who is this little cutie?"

Kanna blushes and stands up. She stands behind Yon with her head slightly down; her cheeks red, and feeling too shy to respond. Yon looks confused for a moment before realizing it.

"Oh! I'm sorry, this is my little sister, Kanna. Say hi Kanna."

Kanna steps forward, extremely nervous.

"H-Hi, I'm Kanna Kinichi..."

Kareen turns red and gets all excited. She rushes forward and grabs Kanna, hugging her close.

"So cute! So cute! You're so cute! How are you two even related?"

Yon stands with a straight face, acting like Kareen didn't just make fun of him. Lincoln laughs at the situation while Sam gets a pouty face.

"I wish I was her right now..." Sam mutters to herself.

Yon looks at Sam. "Did you say something?"

Sam, flustered and embarrassed, "N-No! I said nothing."

Yon stares at Sam for a moment, while Kareen continues to pester Kanna, Lincoln stands enjoying the chaos. After things calm down, Yon proposes they go to the train station to begin their day at the mall.

"Well, I guess we should get going then."

The group walks when Sam halts everyone.

"Hold on! I invited one more person to come with us."

Everyone looks at each other and wonders who it could be. A few more minutes of waiting and finally someone appears.

"Oh, there she is!" Sam runs over to the mystery girl invited to the outing.

The group is all taken aback, and Kareen immediately gets on the offensive.

"What the hell is she doing here?!" Kareen puts one foot forward and her fist out, demanding what is going on.

Sam, with a goofy look on her face, frantically explains what is going on, while Ereen stands prim and proper. Kareen sighs and calms down.

"Alright I get it, you both made up, and you felt bad, so you invited Ms. pretty princess here."

Ereen twitches, annoyed at the princess' comment but stays calm, remembering what Sam told her on the phone the day before.

"We are all going to the mall to get things ready for the school trip! Kareen is coming along, so I thought it would be a perfect time for you and Kareen to make up!"

The group is all talking amongst each other, while Ereen stands away from them, wondering if she and Kareen can really fix anything. She gets tense and looks down, feeling a little out of place.

"Maybe I should just go home."

Just when Ereen thinks about leaving, Kanna walks over and taps her on the shoulder.

"Um, Ereen. Are you alright?"

Ereen looks over at Kanna, remembering how nice she always is to everyone in their class. It makes her sick to her stomach. Anger wells up inside her, but she keeps it together.

"Yep, I'm fine. Go bother your brother or something."

She scoffs and turns away from Kanna. Kanna, not really bothered by her attitude, smiles at Ereen.

"Well, if anything is wrong, I'm here."

Ereen looks back at her, feeling weird about her words. She feels somewhat comforted by them, but shrugs them off and reiterates her stance.

"I said I'm fine. Now leave me alone."

Ereen walks over to the rest of the group and makes herself known.

"So where are we going, losers? Let's go!"

Kanna stands for a bit as they all walk off, the group bickering with Ereen about how none of them were losers. She feels a weird sense of happiness from being with the chaotic group of friends. She runs to catch up with them, lost in her own thoughts.

The group heads toward the train station, but Yon stops to let them know he needs to do something first.

"I'm sorry! Looks like someone else will join us today."

The entire group looks at him with curiosity.

"Who is it?" Sam asks, everyone else wondering the same thing.

Yon smiles and reassures everyone that it's someone they all know.

"Don't worry! We've all met her. You guys remember Yui right? Class 1-A homeroom?"

Everyone wonders for a moment how Yon and Yui know each other, or why Yon invited her. Kanna, not knowing who Yui is, asks Sam who her brother is talking about.

"She's in our homeroom. I think Yon and her have a few classes together as well."

Kanna wonders to herself why Yon hasn't talked about her or brought her up before. Yon heads down the street to meet Yui, while the rest of the group goes into a nearby café to wait on Yon.

Yui is standing on the sidewalk, outside of her home's gated wall. Wearing a pink T-shirt, denim high shorts, and matching pink sneakers. She stands waiting for Yon, nervous about how she looks. Yon comes running up the sidewalk, happy to see her.

"Hey, Yui!"

Yui, happy to see Yon, waves at him as he makes his way toward her. She smiles and blushes, unable to contain her excitement.

"I'm sorry I'm late! We were waiting for someone else that Sam invited."

Yui waves her hands, "No, no! It's ok, I'm the one who responded last minute."

Yon smiles, "That's ok! I'm just happy you are tagging along."

Yui blushes and gets flustered at Yon's words.

"W-We should get going." Yui laughs nervously, "Wouldn't want to keep everyone waiting."

Yon agrees and the two head back toward the café. Meanwhile, at the café, the rest of the group is all crammed into a booth. Sam, Kareen, and Lincoln talk about clothes they really want to try on and buy at the mall. Ereen and Kanna, however, sit on their phones, ignoring the chatter about clothing.

Kanna peeks her eyes up from her phone at Ereen. She stares before finally breaking a question to her.

"So... how do you know my brother?"

Ereen puts down her phone, "Heh?" She responds, annoyed by the question.

Kanna, getting nervous that she might make Ereen mad, squirms in her seat, playing with her hands to calm down.

"Oh well, you all seem to know each other, so I was just wondering how you met Yon is all..." she let out a nervous chuckle and slouches down into her seat.

Ereen stares at her for a moment, annoyed still at the question. She sighs and finally gives an answer.

"We don't really know each other or whatever."

Kanna looks up at Ereen, curious about what she means.

"He tried taking my buns, and we got into it. That's all really."

Kanna sits with a blank look on her face, completely misunderstanding the situation. Ereen looks at her, confused why she looks the way she does.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?"

Kanna, looking horrified now at the realization that her brother could be a massive pervert after girls' buns, gets a really malicious look on her face. She bows her head at Ereen and apologizes for her brother's disgusting endeavors.

"I'm so sorry my brother touched your buns."

Completely confused, Ereen stares at Kanna, wondering why she is apologizing for Yon taking a simple Melon Bun. She just overlooks it and goes back to scrolling on her phone. Meanwhile, Kanna is having trouble coming to terms that her brother is a pervert at school, going around touching girls' buns without consent.

"I can't believe he is such a delinquent!"

Yon and Yui eventually make it to the café, joining the others.

"Sorry that took so long. I never went to Yui's before."

Yon and Yui both sit at a booth beside the others, seeing as the one they are all in is cram packed. Everyone discusses which shop to go to first, while Kanna glares menacingly at Yon. He noticed her glare and wondered what he had done wrong.

"We need to talk when we get home." she says aggressively.

Kanna stares daggers at Yon. "Pervert."

Completely bewildered at the fact his little sister just called him a pervert, Yon sits confused. Everyone looks at Yon, wondering what perverted action he had done. Yui leans forward across the table towards Yon, signaling him to listen. He leans forward to listen.

"Are you some kind of weirdo?"

Yon throws himself back into his booth, frantically squirming and screaming.

"Why am I suddenly a pervert? What did I do!" He cries out.

Everyone laughs at Yon, as he panics to understand what is going on. After some last-minute planning amongst the group, they decide to go to a few clothing stores first at the mall.
