Emma
It's supposed to be a secret, but now she has nothing to hide from Ashton anymore. She also had no choice but to agree to Ashton's request to meet the triplet. She still hasn't read the file that Ashton handed over to her this morning, but she expected that he must have known everything about her. She's not surprised if he knows about herself more than she does.
'I can't run away from this reality forever, don't I? I have done my best to stay away from drama all this while, but I shouldn't be selfish and ignore what is best for my son's. They need their father.' Emma contemplated whether her decision to agree with Ashton's request was the best decision or not.
Emma's reverie was interrupted when her phone suddenly rang with an unknown number. She hesitated to answer the call for a moment.
Finally, she answered the call, but before she managed to say a word, the person on the other end of the line spoke up first: "Hello, Emma?". It's Ashton; she recognized his voice immediately.
"Hello, speaking." She answered calmly.
"I'm on my way to Appleton. I will pick up the kids." The Ashton tone is unusually soft.
Emma ignored his statement, "How come you have my personal contact number?" She questioned him without hesitation.
"Why do you have to be surprised that I have your personal contact number?" Ashton returned the question to her.
'This man, really?! He has never missed pulling up my blood pressure since day one.' Emma is cursing him under her breath.
"I will send them to see you. Send me the location." Emma stands firm on her decision to send the triplet to him herself.
"This is their first time seeing you. Don't give them so much pressure, will you?"
"Okay, fine. I will wait at the restaurant. I will send the restaurant location to you via WhatsApp shortly." Ashton gave in to her.
Once the phone call ended, Emma went out of her bedroom, looking for her son's.
"Mom, where's the boy?" Emma lazily asked her mother, who was chilling while watching a movie on television.
"They are in their room." Rose looked up to her daughter.
"Emma, my grandson's really going to see their father today?" Rose still can't believe the news that her daughter brought home earlier in the afternoon today.
"Yes, Mom. Do I have the option to not let them go? I actually really hate to give in to that man." Emma sighed heavily and went to the triplet's bedroom.
She knocked on the triplet bedroom door. "My babies, what are you guys doing?"
"Nothing, Mommy. We are just playing around." Earl answered her.
Emma entered the room and said, "Look, you guys will meet up with your father today for the first time. Are you guys excited?" Emma smiled at her son's.
"I am." Eric announced his feelings. Among the triplets, Eric is the one who is very loud about his longing to see his father. The other two normally do not say much about it.
"Alright, Eric. Your father is on the way down to Appleton now. I guess you guys also need to get ready. Let's take a shower, please." The triplet listened to her obediently.
"Mommy, our father is a good person, isn't he?" Ean suddenly asked her a random question while taking a bath.
"Ean, honestly, I don't know how to answer this question." Emma just blurted out her honest answer to her son. It's true; she knows nothing about Ashton.
"Is he handsome and cute like us, Mommy?" Eric gave her a silly question.
"Oh ho, Eric, he is annoyingly handsome. You get this face from him," Emma scooped Eric's face.
Eric laughed happily at her comments.
After the triplets had their shower, Emma let them choose their own clothes to wear. At the same time, she also gets ready herself to go out, sending her son's to see their father.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Ashton's PA, Joshua was waiting for them outside the restaurant.
"Ms. Austen, please follow me. Mr. Greene is already waiting inside." Joshua smiled at her and the triplet.
Emma and her son's make their entrance inside the private room. Joshua closed the door silently and left.
"Hi." Ashton smiled awkwardly at the triplet. "Please sit down." He continues.
"Hi." The triplet replied to him in unison.
Emma does not intend to stay and have dinner together with them. "Mr. Greene, I will leave the kids with you. You can have a private dinner with them. I will come back later to fetch them, call me once...."
"No worries, I will send them home." He interrupted her and offered to send them home himself.
"No, I will fetch them." Emma insists on picking up the kids later. She chin-up to look at him.
"Kiddos, you guys stay here for awhile. I need to speak with your mother outside." With that, he pulled her out of the private room. She never expected that reaction from him.
Outside the room, "What are you doing? Let me go." Emma looked up at him with an angry face.
"You don't trust me, don't you? I will send them home safely. You don't have to worry, I will not kidnap them from you." Ashton towered over her with his tall body.
'Why is he so tall?' Emma narrowed her eyes, looking at him.
"Don't stand too close to me. Space." Emma stepped back away from him. "Okay fine! You can send them home. I will send my location to you later." She finally agreed with him. She just wants to stop the trivial argument and move on.
"No need to bother, I know where your house is."
"You...?" Emma can't believe what she heard. This man is really something.
Ashton smiled at her and said, "You don't have to give me that reaction. You knew I had done my investigation on you. Don't worry, I will send my son's to your house safely once we are done here."
"Okay. Let me see them for a minute before I go." She still wanted to say a word to her son's before she left them with him.
However, before she managed to reach the doorknob of the private room, Ashton pulled her arm again.
"What?" Emma was shocked by his action. But seriously, that skin contact made her tremble a bit. 'Damn, what's wrong with my body? Why my heart suddenly raced like this now? Ugh, crazy me!' Emma scolded herself inwardly.
"Stop calling me 'Mr. Greene' in front of the kids again." Ashton gave her a stern order.
"Okay, I will try." Emma entered the room acting like nothing happened.
"Earl, Ean, Eric. Mommy will going home first, and your dad will send you guys home later, okay? Be nice." Emma looks at her son's and finally looks at him.
Ashton smiled happily when he heard her addressing him as 'daddy' to her children's. 'Happy?' Emma wanted to roll her eyes at him. Seriously.
Emma sighed softly and walked out of the room reluctantly.
