Though his father accepted him back easily, it was clear that Kali had no intention of making things easy for Cassius.
The assignments he received were lowly, dangerous tasks—the kind that could easily get him killed. It was as if his father was silently hoping for his demise.
But Cassius didn't care. He had to endure, even if it meant getting his hands dirty, even if it meant piling up bodies until they formed a mountain beneath his feet.
This job, as degrading and risky as it was, provided a steady income, however meager. He was getting paid monthly, and that was all that mattered.
"Boss, we've successfully taken care of them. What do you want us to do with the bodies?" one of his subordinates asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
Cassius crossed his arms, his gaze fixed on the dock in front of him. "Just feed them to the fish."
"Understood," the underling replied, immediately setting to work.
