Chapter 18: Going to Bai Yi Chen workplace to order tiles

After walking for a while, they returns to the hardware shop.

A staff is currently installing a basket in front of the bicycle.

Seems like the brothers has decided on this bicycle.

It looks quite good, it is a bit high compared to the one small children use. Seems like Bai Yi Mo need to practice a bit more.

"This is the one?" Bai Yi Yang asked.

"En. I choose a good one. It is a bit high for Xiao Mo for now but he can use it for a few years." Bai Yi Chen said.

"Alright, I will go pay it." Bai Yi Yang said.

"You three stay here. Just watch the brother install it, don't touch anything."

Bai Yi Chen said to the children and went to follow Bai Yi Yang to the counter.

"Settled?"

The hardware boss asked, a big smile on his face.

He also smile to Bai Yi Chen behind Bai Yi Yang.

"Yes. Boss, count everything including the bicycle." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Alright."

The owner scan the things in the basket earlier then keyed in the code for the chainsaw that is already put inside a box bow, then keyed in the bicycle code.

Bai Yi Chen saw the price of the chainsaw which is at 600+ yuan and the 30 something tools that is almost 900+ yuan then look a few more times at Bai Yi Yang.

Bai Yi Yang grinned and

"The total is 1,766 yuan. Little Miss please check the receipt again."

The boss hand over the receipt while the salesman next to him pack the things.

Bai Yi Chen saw that his sister bought a lot of carpentry tools, even a good chainsaw.

He didn't ask her now, usually she will tell him things so he will just wait.

"Alright. I checked it, the amount is correct."

Bai Yi Yang scanned the code and pay an exact amount.

"Thank you Little miss. Next time you need things, do come to our store again, you can just directly look for me." The boss smile.

"Alright." Bai Yi Yang nod.

"Boss, can we leave the things here first, later at 5.00 we will come again to pick these things."

Bai Yi Chen at the side ask.

"Of course, our shop close at 7.00pm. As long as you came with the receipt before that, that won't be a problem." The boss said.

"Then, thank you." Bai Yi Chen said.

They leave the hardware shop by 3.50 pm and walk quite a distance to a factory/warehouse.

The young ones looks exhausted, Bai Yi Fang is already carried at the back by Bai Yi Chen, contrary to Bai Yi Mo who talked nonstop about his new bike.

He said that he will practice immediately when they arrived home.

"Ge, this Uncle Zhou is from the Old Zhou family?"

Bai Yi Yang asked her brother.

Just now Bai Yi Chen said that he already asked help from this Uncle Zhou to bring their things back to the village and at the same time send them too.

Uncle Zhou own a truck so it more than able to fit all the things they bough.

Apparently, Bai Yi Chen works at this tiles factory, it is just behind this huge home improvement warehouse where they are going to buy the roof tiles.

The tiles factory manufactured products that is mainly sold in this warehouse.

"Yes. He is Grandpa Zhou oldest son, they are staying at Uncle Zhou house in town usually during holiday. It was also Uncle Zhou who help me find the job at the factory. Their family is kind to us." Bai Yi Chen said.

"Oh I see. Is the things sold there good quality? You know it since you work at the factory." Bai Yi Yang asked.

"Of course, our factory products is the best in this town. It is even better than many famous shop in the city, I can vouch for it." Bai Yi Chen said.

"En, I trust you."

Bai Yi Fang release a small laugh.

She knows Bai Yi Chen will take it seriously since it is their house.

They walk for almost 20 minutes before arriving at the warehouse. The gate is wide open and the style of the shop is almost similar to IKEA, just less fancy and smaller, if not because of the brightly lit interior and a few cars that is parked in front, she will think that it is really a literal warehouse.

"Xiao Yi Chen, didn't you take half day off today. Oh, you bought your siblings, are you looking around the warehouse?"

The guard greet Bai Yi Chen, he is quite friendly as he wave back at Bai Yi Fang on Bai Yi Chen back.

"Yes. Buying some things." Bai Yi Chen answer.

It was different when he replied the van driver, seems like he is a bit close to this guard.

"Alright, go ahead. Show your siblings around." The guard said.

Bai Yi Chen smile then nod before walking towards the warehouse with them.

At the entrance, once again a beautiful salesgirl jiejie greet Bai Yi Chen, so does the other jiejie at the counter near the exit.

They said a few kind but empty words that Bai Yi Yang also used a lot.

Bai Yi Yang raised her eyebrows, ohh, her twin is quite popular it seems.

She look at his tall gege who she estimated to be almost 1.80 meter, his look is handsome too, he dressed neatly and has a fair skin.

Maybe because they are originally from the city, they all still look fair compared to people in the village even after staying here for two years.

Among them siblings, there really is no one who is ugly among them, Bai Yi Chen and Bai Yi Fang is the one who is blessed with more beautiful features.

Yes, she and Bai Yi Chen is twin, but they doesn't look like twin at all. What more their personality is very different too, making their difference intensify.

Actually it was her current personality that didn't match with him.

"Your sisters are all pretty and your little brother is adorable too."

The jiejie praise the Bai siblings.

Bai Yi Yang just smile, how many minutes has they stuck at the entrance again?

"Yi Chen."

A middle aged man called Bai Yi Chen and the jiejie look over too.

"Uncle Zhou.." Bai Yi Chen smile.

"Team leader.." The two jiejie greet.

"I was wondering where are you, seems like you are stopped here by our staff."

Uncle Zhou give the two staff a teasing look.

Bai Yi Chen just smile lightly.

"You must be Yi Yang?"

Uncle Zhou turn his attention to Bai Yi Yang.

He haven't heard about her before this but two days ago Bai Yi Chen told him about his severely ill sister and even planning to quit work.

But then when he asked again later, he said that the problem was settled and his sister is well already.

Then his parents the old Zhou couple also told him the story about how the Bai girl catch a fish in the village river and sold it for quite a sum of money.

Apparently their old friends from the village called them and told them about it.

Then this morning, Bai Yi Chen told him about having a day off and later will come over to order some roof tiles with his sister to repair their house.

With all these thing happening, then how can he not be curious about this eldest Bai girl.

"I am, hello Uncle Zhou."

Bai Yi Yang smile politely.

Of course this is not a simple girl, Uncle Zhou thought but he didn't show it.

"En, good good. Come in, let's look around."

Uncle Zhou bring them inside.

It was really big and the ceilings is very high, just like other warehouse store.

"Uncle Zhou, is there anywhere these three children can rest? They are too tired walking around today. Gege and I is enough to look around with you." Bai Yi Yang said.

The children indeed look tired, they were quiet, unlike the usual.

"Ah Huang, can you bring Yi Chen younger siblings to the staff restroom. Let them rest there."

Uncle Zhou called the salesgirl who is waiting at the entrance.

"Alright, leave it to me."

She smile brightly.

The three children reluctantly follow.

"Be good, rest over there first. Later jiejie will buy you ice cream. Xiao Ling, you look over them." Bai Yi Yang said.

"En." Bai Yi Ling nod.

Honestly she also need to rest a bit.

She hold onto the children hand and follow Ah Huang

"If you don't behave I will tell jiejie not to buy you ice cream."

They still can hear Xiao Ling warning as they are heading to the restroom.

"This way.."

Uncle Zhou lead them in front towards an area with a lot of tiles samples.

Bai Yi Yang wasn't interested with that, she really hates the current old fashioned flowery mosaic pattern in the main house but she won't remove or replace it, it wasn't damaged, the design just doesn't match her style, thats all.

As for their toilet mosaic, they are the simplest white colour, so it will be fine.

She already has plan in minds to put flooring on it, something that can be remove and won't damage the original mosaic.

"May I know the estimated amount that you are looking at to repair?" Uncle Zhou ask.

"The exact measurements of the roof I don't know but as for the house sizes, the main house is (15x8 m) 120 m2, the east house and west house is both (10x5 m) 50 m2, the opposite house is (3x2 m) 6 m2 and the gate is (2x1 m) 2 m2." Bai Yi Chen explain while Uncle Zhou took note of it.

"We want to repair everything if possible." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Very well, give me a minute."

Uncle Zhou start calculating using his calculator.

"Then I estimate that we are looking at 230-250 m2 area." Uncle Zhou said.

He sigh, courtyard house is really not easy to maintain.

His parents said that the house conditions is bad, since they are replacing all roof tiles then it must be really bad.

What a big area they have for 5 children to live in.

If the whole courtyard is counted, then the size is 270 m2.

It is already hard to get 100m2 house but these kids has 270 m2 house.

But look at these, even the maintenance cost is not cheap ah.

"I understand."

Bai Yi Yang answer.

"Lets look at these few tiles that we sell here, we have a few other type but I suggest concrete or clay type. In many areas, clay is a better option compared to concrete, these are our brochure regarding differences between the two materials. Concrete can also last for a long time and it is also used by many houses, so it is also good roof tiles. Take your time to decide the materials. After that we will look at the design." Uncle Zhou said.

He hand over a brochure to the two.

He feels a bit odd inside, this is the first time he negotiates with two teenagers about buying tiles, it is truly a novel experience.

"Ge, what do you think?" Bai Yi Yang asked.

If it were her, she will choose the clay for sure. She has done her research, at first she was going to choose synthetic roof tiles, but then she remember that they are living in a siheyuan, no matter how she want it to be a modern place, it will look bad if she use a synthetic one, it will reduce the traditional essence by a lot.

"Clay is very good."

Bai Yi Chen said, he is frowning because he knows that the price is 2-3 times higher than concrete but he knows that clay is better. What mire their factory product is really good.

"Then, lets just buy the clay one." Bai Yi Yang said.

"En."

Bai Yi Chen nod.

They talk a bit more about the design, colour and sizes. Bai Yi Chen knows a bit so he will tell his sister about his opinion and suitable one for their house.

They also looks around the sample shown in the warehouse, they consider all including the thickness of the materials.

"We want the one made from clay, this design, this colour and this size, how is the pricing?"

Bai Yi Yang said and pointed at the one they have chosen.

"Our warehouse sells all tiles by m2. For this specific clay tiles that you choose, it will be 13,900 yuan per 100 m2.

Bai Yi Yang nod, she has expected this price, it is indeed a bit expensive, luckily she also just sold the equally expensive mushrooms, no need to worry about money for now.

"We also have service to install roof tiles, 1200 yuan per 100 m2. Are you interested?" Uncle Zhou asked.

"Yes. We will proceed with these roof tiles." Bai Yi Yang said.

Uncle Zhou was happy to get this order but he is also in dilemma. Tens of thousands yuan for roof tiles?

These children are really to capable. If they have this much money, why does Bai Yi Chen even work here for mere 100+ yuan per day?

He wanted to ask them to think again but how can he do that as the store manager.
