Chapter 17

STORM

The following morning, Storm was the first to wake the next morning. She got dressed in yoga pants and a sport bra along with sneakers before leaving the room. She went to the babies' room next to the Lee's room to check on them. The boys were all awake so she smiled softly at them as they looked up at her.

"Mama!" Grayson and Tristan squealed whilst Christian only smiled at her.

Storm caressed their cheeks lovingly," Hey, my loves. Slept well?"

The boys gave her a toothy smile, she cooed at them before she picked Grayson up. "Let's change you all, shall we?" She whispered and turned to head for the bathroom.

"Shijie (senior sister) Let us look after them, you were about to go for your morning exercise, weren't you?" The young siblings of the Gu family said.

Storm didn't have to be told twice, she shook her head and went on her way. She needed to clear her head from the racing thoughts in her mind. She never liked change, especially huge ones and for some reason she did not feel comfortable with the move. It was sudden, so out of the blue that she wondered what exactly was going with the Gu family for them to summon Liang back.

The man's father did not reveal anything when they met, maybe he did not want to disclose it in front of strangers or he just didn't trust them. Storm didn't know which one was which but she knew one thing for sure and that was something was amiss. She needed to find out soon because she does not appreciate surprises. Gu Liang was her man now, whatever problems he may or will encounter in the future will surely affect her as well as Aelle. The problem might have something to do with work because as she studied the family members the night before, she found out that nothing was wrong at home.

For now her top priority is her family, she has to find out if the problem was going to be threat in their lives or not. Being a businesswoman herself, she was no stranger to business problems that tended to become personal or ruin personal relationships. Aelle has been through enough pain for one lifetime, she can't let the girl keep hurting especially if she has any say in the matter. Storm knew she can't block Aelle from every pain but she can try where she can.

As she jogged back to the house, she took in her surroundings and surveyed the area. She was being watched, she could feel it and as she secretly scanned the area, she also saw a flash meaning whoever was watching her was also taking pictures. 'Well, this is interesting.'

She thought as she pretended to go into the house. The person stood up to confirm that she really went inside before checking the photos. He was wearing a cap hence, Storm couldn't see his face clearly, she snuck up on him while he wasn't looking and knocked him out with one blow. Then she took the camera and was not surprised to see various photos of the Gu family members and anyone they seem to be in contact with.

'Spying, are we? What does your boss plan to do with all this information?" Storm thought. There was only one way to find out. She grabbed the man by the back of his collar and dragged him to the house.

Everyone was already awake and getting ready for breakfast when she entered. They all froze and stared at her in utter shock. Gu Lin looked at the man  Storm was dragging then up to her, his eyes wide and lips pursed. Storm thought the boy looked cute with that mole just below his lower lip. Gu Xichen on the other hand had a confused expression while Gu Qing was frozen in shock. The rest were in the same state except Aelle and Lee who looked worried.

"Storm?" Lee decided to break the silence.

The latter didn't respond, she only tossed the camera to him. As expected Lee caught it swiftly, he looked into her eyes before connecting the camera to the TV. As soon as he pressed play, they were all stunned at what they were seeing.

"This..." Mr Gu began.

Madam Gu held his hand as her eyes filled with fear, " We were being watched!" She exclaimed.

"A'Die, these pictures are dated from two months ago. They have been following us for a while. Who could do such a thing?" Gu Qing cried.

" It must be the Jins, who else could stoop to such a low level?" Xichen seethed.

Gu Lin shook his head, " Isn't it enough that they pester us all the time and now this? Ever since Pa refused to sell some shares to them, they have been creating a ruckus in our lives."

Liang looked at his family with a serious expression, " What exactly is going on here? Why the hell will the Jins spy on us?"

" Da-ge (eldest brother), Jin Guanshan wants to take over our company but when we refused to sell them the shares, they started creating trouble for us. " Gu Qing explained.

Storm listened to what they were saying calmly, it was a known fact that the Jins were one of the three wealthiest families in China. First was the royal family, followed by the Gu family then the Jin family. Many thought the Gu family got their wealth only because they're part of the royal family seeing as Mr Gu's mother was the emperor's sister. Meaning the emperor is his uncle, he also married the daughter of the royal Army general so the family is quiet powerful. However, Storm had long found out that the rumors about the Gu family's wealth was a lie.

As much as the family has good relationships with the royal family, they don't depend on them for a living. Mr Gu started his own business alongside his wife and refused any help from the emperor or the general. He and his wife built everything they have now from scratch and Storm admired that. The Jins on the other hand have always been against the Gu family and competed against them for everything. Storm had to do her owner research before they can take any action so she looked at the family with a cold look.

" Leave this to me, I'll take care of it." She informed.

Mr Gu was shocked, " What... How will you do that?"

Storm looked at him, " The same way I did years ago to those who tried to kill Liang." With that she stormed off.

Xichen smirked, " Oh they're in for a shock now."

Lin chuckled, " You're right, bro, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that wrath." He shuddered as he recalled what Storm did to those assassins years ago.

Qing pouted, " Now I really want to know what really happened that night on Da-ge's attempted assassination for you both to fear her. You don't fear anyone except Da-ge." She pointed out.

Madam Gu smiled softly at her daughter, " It's best if you don't know, A'Qing. I just feel a bit sorry for whoever is behind this."

Lee shook his head at them before pulling a worried Aelle into a warm hug." Don't worry, everything will be fine. We'll all take care of it together. "
