Chapter 8

Amira was on the phone with her mom. When she was done with the phone call, she went into Adelia's nursery and noticed she wasn't there. She checked Thayer's room and study for him as well and she didn't see him. When she went to the living room, she saw them both on the long sofa. Adelia was sleeping on Thayer's chest with her belly and Thayer was fast asleep. He used his hand to support Adelia to keep her from falling off. Amira took a picture and smiled. She thought Thayer was being a good father to Adelia. She carefully carried Adelia from Thayer's arms without waking her up but Thayer woke up.

"Huh?" Thayer said confused

He sat up straight and said, "She didn't want to sleep in her bed so that was the best way to shut her up"

Amira smiled and rocked Adelia as she adjusted herself for comfort in her arms. Amira said, "Well Octavian, you look tired. You should go to bed"

"You just woke me up do you think I can just go to bed?" Thayer asked

"Maybe. If you can't sleep, cuddle something or someone it should help"

"I could try that"

"I'm going to bed Octavian, goodnight"

Amira put Adelia asleep in her nursery and waited till she was sure she had slept deeply then she went to bed.

Amira closed her eyes in bed but she wasn't sleeping. She was lost in thought and she didn't realize someone opened her room door. Someone held her waist all of a sudden. Her eyes opened and she saw Thayer, It was him and he was holding her.

"You said If I cuddled someone I'd be asleep in no time. So here I am" Thayer said and Amira looked at his eyes up close and just noticed how beautiful they were. She couldn't stop wondering why it was her he thought of. He could have called one of his side hoes to keep him comfortable. Amira went from looking at his eyes to checking him out. She scanned his face and her eyes fell on his lips, a sudden rush of adrenaline came in and her cheeks turned red. The blue LED lights in the room prevented Thayer from seeing her blush red cheeks. Thayer's eyes were closed and Amira couldn't get her eyes off his lips. She looked at him and asked herself what she was doing or what his presence was doing to her. He was meant to be the enemy, not the one she would fall for. She wanted to fight it but she went closer to his face and his eyes opened.

"Are you trying to kiss me doll?" Thayer asked

"No ummm, I was just, there was something on..." Amira was short of words already

"Let me make it easy for you," Thayer said and kissed her

'Fuck!' Amira exclaimed in her head 'What was he doing!'

She was sure she was losing it. She gave into the kiss and all of a sudden, he pulled away.

"Goodnight doll," Thayer said then closed his eyes again.

Amira didn't know how he kissed her and slept off. She was going to get her revenge.

  The next day came, and Amira woke up and saw Thayer had gone. Typical Thayer..... She thought. She got out of bed and went to check on Adelia, she was awake and Nathalie was trying to feed her.

"Nathalie, you're up already?" Amira asked

"Yes Mrs. Octavian I......." Nathalie wasn't a to say but Amira cut her short," Call me Amira, let's cut the formalities" Amira smiled

"Yes, Mrs. Oct..... I mean Amira" Nathalie said as she successfully put Adelia back to sleep

"So Nathalie, how did you start working for Thayer?" Amira asked

"Mr. Octavian helped me a lot. He may act tough but he's nice. I do know he's a dangerous man but after my mother passed away, he saw me in one of the places he was to operate and he brought me here. I am allowed to see my sister every week. I send money to her and I go on vacation for a month after two months. Working here is nice and if never want to lose my job"

"Wow. I never imagined what you went through after your mother's death"

"Yeah. The women mr Octavian brings to the house never last a day"

"He brings women... Okay"

"Its not a threat anymore. He never had intentions of marrying them. But I noticed the ladies stay the night and leave in the morning."

"Tell me more please"

"Well, he usually you know sleeps with them and they don't engage in serious conversations."

"How do you know we do?"

"I know a lot, Amira"

"Plus I've seen the way he looks at you, it's obvious"

"What's obvious?" Nathan asked as he came in

"Nothing," the two women said in harmony

"Mira" Thayer said as he came in and pulled Amira out of the nursery and into his study

"Can I help you, Thayer?"

"Yes, you can. Adelia's relatives would soon come to get her"

"What? You said her parents are dead"

"They are but she has an aunt from her mom's side and she'd be coming in a week. She lives far away from here anyway"

"How far?"

"Scotland"

"What?"

"She's the only person that means a lot in this house"

"So I don't mean a lot to your doll?"

"You don't want to. And you have bad communication skills anyway"

"We are talking now aren't we?"

"Today you're hot tomorrow you're cold. Your mood swings are worse than a pregnant woman's. I can't even, with you. If Adelia goes, how do you want me to survive?"

"Ouch, that hurt. You what do you want me to do to you"

"We're talking now, I want you to stop getting mad for no reason and talk to me like a human being, not a slave. Plus I'm scared of you"

"That's the point, making people fear me, makes it easy for me"

"Wrong. They are scared of you doesn't mean they respect you you know"

Thayer pinned Amira to the wall behind her.

"So you're scared of me doll?"

"Not anymore at least"

"Being in this position is intimidating you know"

"And I like it"

Thayer held her waist and kissed her, he was sure he was going crazy. She made him so vulnerable without knowing it and she immediately melted in his arms and kissed him back.
