Chapter 58: Losing a forever kind of love.
As he woke, three things hit Kit. He could smell the hospital’s disinfectant. A monitor beeping pierced his groggy sleep, and lastly, these were not the soft sheets he was used to at home or on vacation. His eyes opened to glaring sunlight and a white ceiling. Licking his lips, he felt like he’d not drunk water in three days. His splitting headache seconded that notion.
“Kit?” Harry’s voice was frantic. “Thank god you’re awake again.”
“Again?” Kit tried to remember what had happened. Gradually, piece by piece, he recalled talking to his brother and a doctor. Yes, they went on and on about how he hit his head on a car bumper and then the curb. He got shot and then fell… or he was tackled. He turned his head to the right and left. That was correct. He got shot.
His eyes jumped around the space. Where was Gunner? Was his lover safe? What happened after he was shoved to the ground by Frank?
