After standing up from the impact crater, Godzilla was momentarily baffled by the scene before him.
It couldn't comprehend how Grendel, who had pinned it to the ground just moments ago, was now being pinned down by a tiny human.
While Godzilla had a large head, it couldn't grasp these complex twists and turns.
Despite not understanding what was happening, Godzilla keenly sensed that this was an opportunity, an opportunity to eliminate Grendel completely.
From a racial perspective, Godzilla didn't have much interest in Grendel. Grendel was not a MUTO, and their species were not natural enemies. Grendel was also not a Titan monster, not an opponent Godzilla needed to defeat.
However, this didn't mean that Godzilla didn't want to defeat Grendel now. Setting aside the fact that Grendel was an extraterrestrial creature, Godzilla couldn't tolerate being pinned down by him earlier.
What Godzilla didn't know was that on the distant continent of Antarctica, there was another extraterrestrial monster, one that sought to challenge Godzilla for the title of King of the Monster.
Seeing Grendel continuously howling in pain from Russell's attacks, Godzilla made a decision. It would take out both Grendel and Russell simultaneously.
Under normal circumstances, Godzilla didn't pay much attention to humans. Even when the U.S. military conducted nuclear tests in the Pacific, it didn't care.
But now, it sensed a dangerous aura around Russell.
Its wild instincts told it that if it didn't eliminate Russell now, Russell would become a more formidable opponent than its arch-nemesis, MUTO.
With its decision made, Godzilla began charging up once again.
The strange charging sound reverberated.
Starting from the base of its dorsal fins, Godzilla's dorsal fins lit up one by one.
Upon hearing Godzilla's unique charging sound, Russell knew that it was time to wrap up his performance of beating Grendel.
After informing Grendel of the next step of the plan through their radio earpieces, he once again pretended to be repelled by Grendel.
This time, he deliberately flew backward for over a kilometer, giving Grendel enough room to maneuver.
As Russell was "repelled" and flew out, Grendel wasted no time and swiftly turned around. He controlled his emerging black tentacles to fend off Mr. Fantastic Reed and others who were attacking him.
Then, he flapped his wings forcefully, resembling a black hurricane as he flew out.
He didn't fly toward Russell's location but headed straight for Godzilla, who was in the midst of charging its atomic breath.
Godzilla didn't expect Grendel to break free from Russell and fly towards it at this moment.
Before Godzilla could complete its charging, Grendel used the unique ability shared by all symbiotes.
Possession!
Upon impact with Godzilla like a projectile, Grendel's massive body began to rapidly disintegrate and disappear into Godzilla, like a drop of water falling into the sea.
In just a second or two, the mountain-sized Grendel vanished completely, fully merging into Godzilla's body.
Seeing this bizarre scene, Mr. Fantastic Reed and others, who had never encountered symbiotes before, wore expressions of disbelief.
At this point, Coulson and his team were much calmer.
They had recognized Grendel long ago and knew that Grendel was the symbiote dragon that had escaped from the base and kidnapped Natasha.
They had known about the symbiotes' ability to possess other flesh and blood creatures for a while now.
If it weren't for Russell and Hydra launching an attack on the base, SHIELD would probably have already created their own army of symbiotes.
After possessing Godzilla, Grendel wasted no time and began forcibly taking control of Godzilla's body. This was Grendel's first time possessing another creature's main body, even though he had experience with using tentacles to possess other creatures before.
The reason was simple: not many creatures could withstand Grendel's possession. Symbiotes could possess other creatures, but there were limitations. For instance, a symbiote like Grendel, with his massive form, couldn't possess a host that was too small. If the host was too small, even if the symbiote could perfectly merge with it, Grendel wouldn't fit inside and would end up bursting the host.
Despite this being his first time possessing the main body, possession was an innate ability of symbiotes. It took little effort for Grendel to take control of Godzilla's body.
After taking control of Godzilla's body, Grendel didn't stop the charging process.
Once the charging was complete, he directed Godzilla to unleash a blue-white atomic breath.
He didn't target Coulson and Reed's group with the atomic breath but aimed it at Russell.
This was Russell's order.
Although Godzilla's atomic breath was powerful, dodging it was not difficult, especially when Russell had a normal human-sized body.
With a casual flap of his wings, Russell easily avoided Godzilla's atomic breath.
However, he didn't move far away from the atomic breath; instead, he flew towards Godzilla, deliberately doing so because it would make for a more visually striking conclusion.
Russell flew toward Godzilla while sticking close to the atomic breath. As Godzilla stopped spewing its atomic breath, he released his negative energy once again.
Negative energy, like black and white flames, surged from his right hand.
Different from the negative energy sword used against the male MUTO, this time, he created an even more astounding negative energy sword.
In the blink of an eye, a colossal energy sword over fifty meters long and more than a meter wide appeared in his hand.
Without any hesitation, Russell gripped the massive hilt with both hands and swung it down with thunderous force when he reached Godzilla.
Boom!
When the negative energy sword struck Godzilla's massive head, it produced a tremendous explosion.
The negative energy, resembling black and white flames, dispersed like ocean waves, spreading in all directions.
The pitch-black night was dispelled, and the eerie black and white radiance illuminated the entire forest like sunlight.
Following that, a terrifying shockwave from the explosion, carrying the scattered negative energy, devastated the entire forest as if it were a natural disaster.
This was the most powerful strike Russell had unleashed since mastering the negative energy.
Although he hadn't tested the true power of this strike, he wasn't worried that it would kill Godzilla outright. After all, Grendel was inside Godzilla's body now, making it far from easy for Godzilla to die.
In the midst of the horrifying negative energy storm, Godzilla collapsed to the ground.
The grand performance of the Superhero Serum defeating two monsters in Hawaii came to a perfect conclusion!
