THE SURPRISE

At around 5 in the morning, Krish wakes me up. I push his hand and roll in my bed. He drags my bed sheet and I try to pull it away from me.

"Krish allow me to sleep", I shout

"Wake up Megha", he commands

"Why"

"You agreed for going out"

"So early"

"Yes. Come on wake up. Go take bath, and remember get dressed in some salwar or saree and yellow shade because I will be wearing yellow today"

"Salwar or saree, where are we going"

"It is a surprise"

"Is anyone going to get married"

"No"

"Then"

"Didn't I tell you it is a surprise, now get up", he enthusiastically pulls me out of the bed and pushes me into the bathroom. I take my time and dress up in a bright yellow salwar suit and let my hair fall loosely over my back. I observed myself in the mirror I looked beautiful, with a warm smile and the lines of dark stripes of kajal and sparkling golden bindi which matched my dress. I move out of my room and Krish was already waiting for me he was wearing a mustard yellow designer kurta with side buttons and a white pajama. He was having a camera in his hands probably to capture our pictures; nevertheless, we were in a traditional outfit and twinning also. This was the first time I'm seeing Krish dressed in traditional Indian wear, the way he was looking into the camera was giving me an amazing view of myself, so I quickly pull out my mobile and click a splendid candid picture of him. His eyes turned towards me, there is some charm in the way he looks at me, I would never be able to explain it, no words in the dictionary can justify the feelings that arise in my heart when he looks at me, and even in times when I realize that I'm the major part of his world and he belongs to me.

I frown my eyebrows as I finish admiring him because he had been staring at me and his mouth was fallen open. I wave my hand in front of his face "Is there something that matter?" I ask politely

"Mesmerized in your looks", he answers

"Thank you. Even you look good"

"Okay stand there, one more picture for the album"

"You have clicked so many pictures of me since we became buddies, isn't your album filled yet?"

"One got over, this for the second one. With your pictures my album would never end", he says as I pose and CLICK! He ties a bracelet around my hand, it was colorful and there was a small infinity symbol in it and 'M&K' carved in it.

"What is this?", I ask

"A token of love, see we have the same bracelets", he shows me a similar bracelet in his hand.

"So shall we start"

"Come on let's go," he says and we exit

We drive for a long time, though I didn't feel it as I slept. I woke up and we had already crossed Bangalore still he didn't reveal where we were heading to. I was enjoying and admiring the beauty of nature. Greenery filled either side of the road, fewer cars unlike the traffic in Bangalore and the bright blue sky. It was 7 in the morning, the sun was out. The blazing golden rays were adding beauty to the scenery. Understanding my wavelength, Krish rolls down the window on my side and lets the pleasurable cool breeze strike my face. The awkward silence made me feel uncomfortable. I aimed to utilize this traveling time to talk more, as always my plan worked out because Krish knows that even if I know every single detail about him I'm a chatterbox so can't keep my mouth shut for long. I adjusted myself in my seat and placed my hand on Krish's hand which was controlling the gears. The rest of the travel was very peaceful as Krish spoke to me about Mumbai his hometown. Within a couple of minutes, we reached the destination. We parked the car and got down. It was Lord Krishna temple. I looked at Krish surprisingly and signed me to move forward. I cover my head with my dupatta, and we walked into the temple the entrance had brick walls and gardens. We stepped into the grand hall. It was splendidly filled with lamps, idols, and flowers everywhere. We entered the main hall; there was an enormous and astonishing statue of Krishna, my favorite god. A priest was reciting wonderful hymns. The area smelled heavenly with incense sticks burning in all the corners. The priest started the special aarti which Krish had booked in advance. I joined my hands and started to pray with all my heart. The spot turned from beautiful to magical and heaven to heavenly divine. We took our Prasad at the end of the aarti and walked out.

"Krish", I call him as he starts the car

"Yeah tell", he says

"Thanks for this. I love this surprise"

"I knew that you would"

"Thank you"

"Save your thank you"

"Okay"

"Ready for the next surprise"

"Sure", I say

We drive a little longer and he parks the car in an open space. It was completely green. He called someone and told them to start. As he cut the call four dogs came running towards. 2 golden retrievers and 2 huskies they were so adorable. Those were his friend's dogs. I played with them for some time and Krish clicked and recorded as much as he could. After a while he had disappeared from the place, I turned around to check where has he gone. I shout his name but still, he wasn't there. A moment later he appeared again with a box. He gives me the box and signals me to open it. There was a cake inside it.

"What is this for?" I question him

"For getting your degree"

"Thank you", I said as I cut the cake and we feed each other.

"How does it taste?" he asks

"Good. Which bakery?"

"Krish Malhotra's bakery"

"You baked it. When?"

"Yesterday night after you went to sleep"

"So sweet of you," I say as I cling to him. We spend time together there.
