Chapter 28
Kurt held out his hand and Maggie gave it to him. Next, she retrieved the tan camouflage pants from the bathroom. The blood had dried enough that it was starting to stiffen the fabric and he was pretty close to accurate that one whole leg had been saturated.
“Can you disconnect one of the IVs? I don’t want both arms tangled up if I need to move,” Kurt said.
“I’ll take out the saline one. There’s still half a unit of blood to go. I want it inside you if at all possible.” She held up the pants. “Because way too much of your own ended up here. I’m impressed you didn’t end up unconscious on the street somewhere.”
“I’m stubborn.”
Maggie removed one of the IV lines. “I’ll be back as soon as possible. Hopefully Bill will call me back.” She tapped the pocket where she had put her phone.
