Chapter Twelve : Promotion Test

Joe woke up early and got ready for his rank promotion test. He had been a C rank hunter for a year, and he felt that he was ready to move up to the next level. He had completed many missions, fought many enemies, and gained many skills. He had also acquired a devil fruit power, the pika pika no mi, which gave him the ability to manipulate and become light. He planned to use his powers disguised as a light magic technique.

He left his room and headed to the guild hall, where he would take his test. He was confident and excited, but also nervous and cautious. He knew that the test would not be easy and that he would have to face a strong opponent who probably has more experience than him.

He arrived at the guild hall and registered for his test. He was given a number and told to wait in the waiting area. He sat down and looked around. He saw other hunters who were also taking their tests, some of them looking nervous, some of them looking bored, some of them looking eager.

He wondered who his opponent would be. He hoped that it would be someone fair and honorable, not someone cruel and dirty.

He waited for his number to be called.

After a while, he heard a voice over the loudspeaker.

"Number 27, please proceed to the testing arena."

Joe stood up and checked his number. It was 27.

He walked towards the testing arena, where he would take his test.

He entered the arena and saw a large circular platform surrounded by seats. There were spectators watching from the seats, some of them cheering, some of them booing, some of them betting.

He saw a referee standing in the center of the platform. He was a tall man with a whistle and a flag.

He saw his opponent standing on the opposite side of the platform. He was a B rank hunter named Remy. He was a short man with spiky hair and a scar on his cheek. He wore a leather jacket and jeans, along with a pair of daggers at his waist.

He looked at Joe with a smirk and said.

"Hey, kid. You're my opponent?"

Joe nodded and said.

"Yes, I am."

Remy laughed and said.

"Well, well, well. You're brave to challenge me. Do you know who I am?"

Joe shook his head and said.

"No, I don't."

Remy grinned and said.

"I'm Remy, the Blade Dancer. I'm one of the best B rank hunters in this city. I've killed more than a hundred enemies with my daggers. I've never lost a duel in my life."

Joe raised his eyebrows and said.

"Is that so?"

Remy nodded and said.

"Yes, that's so. And you're going to be my next victim."

Joe shrugged and said.

"We'll see about that."

Remy snorted and said.

"Don't be cocky, kid. You don't stand a chance against me. You're just a C rank hunter with no experience or skill."

Joe smiled and said.

"Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm just a C rank hunter with no experience or skill."

He paused and added.

"Or maybe I'm more than that."

Remy frowned and said.

"What do you mean?"

Joe winked and said.

"You'll find out soon enough."

The referee blew his whistle and raised his flag.

He said.

"Let the test begin"

Remy drew his daggers and charged at Joe.

Joe drew his sword and met him halfway.

The test had begun.

Joe and Remy clashed on the platform, exchanging blows and sparks. Remy was fast and agile, moving around Joe and slashing at him with his daggers. Joe was strong and steady, blocking Remy's attacks and striking back with his sword.

Joe had another advantage over Remy. He had fire magic, which he had learned from a book he had found in a library. He could create and manipulate fire with his will, using it as a weapon or a shield.

He used his fire magic to enhance his sword, making it burn with flames. He also used his fire magic to create fireballs, fire blasts, and firewalls, trying to hit or trap Remy.

Remy was not impressed by Joe's fire magic. He had seen many hunters with different kinds of magic, and he had learned how to deal with them. He used his daggers to deflect or dodge Joe's fire attacks, and he used his own skills to counterattack.

He used his speed to close the distance between him and Joe, and he used his agility to avoid Joe's sword swings. He used his daggers to stab or slash at Joe's vital points, aiming for his neck, chest, or stomach.

He also used his cunning to taunt and provoke Joe, trying to make him lose his focus and temper.

He said things like:

"Is that all you got, kid? Your fire magic is weak and pathetic."

"Come on, kid. Show me some real skills. Or are you afraid of my daggers?"

"You're wasting your time, kid. You'll never beat me. You'll never become a B rank hunter."

Joe tried to ignore Remy's words, but he could not help but feel annoyed and angry. He hated Remy's arrogance, and he wanted to wipe that smirk off his face.

"Bring it on, Remy. Show me some real courage. Or are you afraid of my sword?"

"You're the one who's wasting your time, Remy. You'll never win. And I will be a B rank Hunter."

The duel continued for several minutes, with neither side gaining the upper hand. They were both skilled and determined, and they both gave their best.

The spectators watched the duel with interest. They cheered and booed for their favorite or hated hunter. They placed bets on who would win or lose.

The referee watched the duel with attention and caution. He was ready to intervene if the duel got out of hand or if one of the hunters broke the rules.

The rules were simple: The duel would last for five minutes. The hunter who defeated or lasted longer than their opponent would pass the test. The hunter who was defeated or gave up would fail the test.

The referee checked his watch and saw that there was only one minute left.

He announced to the hunters and the spectators.

"One minute left!"

Joe heard the announcement and felt a surge of adrenaline. He knew that he had to end the duel soon, or he would fail the test.

He decided to use his trump card: his devil fruit power.

He had not used it so far in the duel, because he wanted to keep it a secret from most people. He also wanted to test his own skills without relying on it.

But now he had no choice. He had to use it.

He activated his power and pointed his hand towards Remy.

A dense light shot out of his arm and blinded Remy and the spectators

Remy felt a sharp pain in his chest as Joe reappeared behind him and stabbed him with his sword.

He felt a burning sensation in his back as Joe shot him with a beam of light.

He felt a crushing force in his head as Joe hit him with a light infused punch.

He felt nothing else as Joe knocked him out with a kick to his head.

Joe stood over Remy's unconscious body and raised his sword in victory.

He had won the duel.

He had passed the test.

He had become a B rank hunter.

I hope y'all enjoyed the chapter. How was the fight scene was it good?
