Before this story begins, just a few simple things to make note of. Firstly, this story will begin a month or so prior to the beginning of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Secondly, my grammar isn't the best, English is only my third language and am still trying to learn it despite living in Australia.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
At the current time, two voices could be heard talking to one another, though from the sounds of it, it sounded more like an argument than it was a normal conversation despite how hushed their voices were. The two voices came from two individuals who appeared to be sitting down at the dining table.
The first person was a male in his late thirties, having black short hair and a pair of sharp coal-black eyes to match, and the other was a woman of the same age with long blue hair tied into a ponytail that rested on her left shoulder.
As this supposed argument was happening, a certain individual could be seen listening in from behind the door leading into the kitchen. The person looked no older than fifteen, and had smooth straight royal blue hair, along with a pair of matching eyes.
He had fair skin along with a lean yet rather athletic physique, which could be relatively well seen underneath his thin layer of clothing. The clothing consisting of a simple tight white t-shirt along with a pair of black shorts that only reached to just above his knees.
This individual was Miuraraki Kuro.
"Dear, you already know what this means!" The male sitting at the table, whom was Kuro's father, had shouted in a whisper to his mother. "We both saw what Kuro did, he stopped that mug from falling to the ground without even touching it. He has it, I'm sure of it!"
"B-But, what if it's just something like telekinesis!"
"You saw the marks, there is no point in denying it." Kuro's father spoke with a sigh as he leaned back into the chair. "As he has truly inherited our ancestor's techniques, than you already know that they would stop at nothing to make sure that Kuro becomes one of them."
"I-I..." Kuro's mother looked down at her lap, a look of both concern and denial on her face as her arms were shaking as they tried to help support her. "I don't want him to die...! He's our only son, our only child! I don't want him doing something where his life is at risk constantly!"
"I know how you feel, and believe me that I don't like this as much as you do... However, those Sorcerers have most likely already become aware of Kuro's circumstances. You know that they have a watchful eye on us constantly. There's no escaping it."
"B-But why our son?!" Kuro's mother shouted as she buried her face into both her hands. "Why can't those Jujutsu Sorcerers just handle those Cursed Spirits on their own, they have that man from the Gojo family, don't they?! They can handle things without our son!"
"..."
As Kuro listened in on his parent's conversation, he wasn't sure how to react. He heard them speaking about things completely insane, but what truly confused him about it all was that they both seemed well aware of what they were talking about.
He recalled a few hours ago about how he had somehow stopped a falling mug from shattering on the ground, he didn't know how he did, just that he did. Looking down at his right arm, he vividly remembered those strange marks that appeared on his arm during that time. However, those same marks left just as quick as they came.
Shaking his head, Kuro felt a massive headache coming as he made his way back to his room. Perhaps this was all just some strange dream...
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Kuro woke up the next morning honestly unsure about everything he had heard last night. Whether or not it was real or just a dream he had, he wasn't sure. For now though, Kuro decided to act as if nothing had happened as he walked towards the kitchen after coming down the stairs.
The time right now was six in the morning, he had woken up early mainly due to the fact that he had school today. He was always and early person, waking up to get everything he needed to get done prior to going to school. However, today was going to be different...
"Kuro, come and take a seat."
Kuro was confused when he came into the kitchen to see both his parents sitting on the couch of the connected living room, along with a person he didn't recognise sitting directly opposite to them on the other couch. Wiping his eyes, Kuro's blinked in confusion.
"Dad, who is this...?" Kuro walked over in a confused manner as he eyed the person who seemed to be inspecting him with a curious look. Though, it was very hard to tell since the person had a blindfold of sorts covering his eyes. "What's happening?"
"Kuro, just listen to me." Kuro's father sighed as he stood up from his chair, his mother following suit as she looked at her son with a worried expression on her face. "I want you to talk to this man, he'll explain everything to you. We'll be waiting outside."
Before Kuro could say anything, both Kuro's parents left the room, though only after his mother gave him a quick hug before doing so. Seeing them leave, Kuro turned back towards the stranger in the house and gave him a cautious yet curious look.
The person looked to be a male somewhere in his twenties or so, perhaps mid or late twenties that is. He had snow-white hair that stood up due to the support of that blind fold he was wearing, which Kuro found strange since he doubted the man could properly see with that on.
His outfit wasn't exactly normal either, he wore mainly black clothing which consisted of a zipped up high-collared jacket along wit a pair of tight matching pants. His shoes were on as well, coloured a much darker black compared to the rest of his outfit.
"So~, you're Kuro, right?" The man spoke up, taking Kuro by a surprise since the man's tone seemed much more carefree and cheerful compared to what he expected. The man also had a carefree smile on his face as he spoke. "Nice to meet you! My name is Gojo Satoru, just call me Gojo!"
"Okay... Gojo." Kuro responded with a tone of uncertainty as he took a seat on the couch his parents had just been sitting on. "My name is Kuro, Miuraraki Kuro. What exactly do you want to talk to me about?"
"Straight to it, huh? Very well, to put things bluntly, you're going to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer!" Gojo grinned as Kuro merely stared at him with a narrowed look. "Huh, I was expecting more of a reaction. Do you perhaps know what Jujutsu Sorcerers, are?"
"Not exactly, I just overheard my parents talking last night, something about Jujutsu Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits or whatever..."
"Exactly!" Gojo chuckled as he pointed both fingers at Kuro as if they were guns. Kuro felt his eye twitch as he was kind of overwhelmed by Gojo's cheerfulness, he was expecting a more serious kind of person. "We Jujutsu Sorcerers are responsible for taking down Cursed Spirits! And you Kuro, are going to be one of us!"
"...Why?" Kuro frowned as he asked this simple question. "What even are Jujutsu Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits?"
"Hmm, to it as simply as possible. Cursed Spirits are beings that cannot be perceived by humans, they're born from the cursed energy that is released by humans in response to negative emotions. We Jujutsu Sorcerers use our cursed energy to fight back. Are you aware that the number of unexplained deaths and disappearances in Japan exceed ten-thousand a year?"
"Yeah... wait, are you telling me that's due to these Cursed Spirits?"
"Bingo!" Gojo nodded with a smirk on his face. "The number of Cursed Spirits and Jujutsu Sorcerers aren't even comparable, there are far more Cursed Spirits than Sorcerers, which is why anyone who can become a Sorcerer is highly sought after. You are a very special case!"
"What, because I stopped that mug with telekinesis or something?"
"Is that what you think it was?" Gojo's mouth twisted into a confused frown before twisted back into an amused grin. "Your parents haven't told you about your family's history, have they? I guess they must've been holding it off until you got older!"
"Huh?" Kuro rose an eyebrow at that, he did recall as few of his parent's words from last night stating something about his ancestor's, but he wasn't really sure what to make of them. "Are you saying it wasn't telekinesis that I used?"
"Nope, not at all!" Gojo nodded as he stopped leaning back into the couch. Kuro watched as Gojo then picked up a small cup present on the coffee table in front of him. "Tell me, Kuro. If I were to throw this cup at you, would you be able to dodge or stop it in... let's say, point one seconds?"
"Huh? What are you talking abou-!" Kuro didn't get to finish his sentence as Gojo suddenly threw the cup straight towards him. Despite it being a casual throw, the cup flew at him with great speed. On instinct, Kuro took a step back before holding both arms in front of his face.
"Hoh~?" Kuro heard Gojo voice as the sound of something hitting the wooden floor was heard. Lowering his arms, Kuro looked down to see the cup broken on the ground in front of his feet. "Interesting, you didn't even need to process the information, yet you stopped it."
"What was that?!" Kuro felt his eyes twitch as he glared at Gojo, who merely smirked. "That cup could have killed me with that crazy speed!"
"But you didn't die, right? It's all good!" Gojo laughed in a way that irritated Kuro greatly as the younger male felt the urge to really clock this guy across the damn face. "Anyway, do you know what you just did? How you stopped the cup from hitting you?"
"Huh? Well, no?" Kuro stopped glaring before responding as he gave a small sigh, rubbing the back of his head as he did so. "I just kinda saw it coming at me, I knew I couldn't dodge in time so I just tried to stop it using my arms... well, at least to protect myself."
"I see, that makes you an uber special case!" Gojo grinned further as Kuro merely cocked an eyebrow at him. "You see, Kuro. You don't possess telekinesis, you've actually inherited your family's ancient inherited technique. One that was lost for over a thousand years, and on top of that, a slightly improved version at that!"
"...I have no idea what you're talking about."
"I see."
Gojo chuckled before getting up from the couch, walking over before leaning in an inspecting Kuro closer.
"Personal space, dude..."
"The difference between your version and your ancestor's is that you don't seem to need to process the given information, only know it, at least at the given time." Gojo chuckled once more before standing back straight, allowing Kuro to relax once more. "What you possess is both an innate and inherited technique passed down through your family's blood and their blood alone, it's known as Zero Order."
Kuro frowned in confusion at that. "Zero Order?"
"Yep, the ability to make things zero!" Gojo laughed as he began walk back over to the couch. "Of course, it's capabilities and requirements run much deeper than that! Anyway, I'll be seeing you later after you finish school today, that's when we can begin your official training as a Sorcerer! Bye~!"
"Wait, wha-?!" Before Kuro could get another word in, Gojo suddenly disappeared faster than he could even believe as Kuro soon found himself standing in the room alone. Shaking his head, Kuro looked down at the floor. "Zero Order... What in the hell have I gotten myself into? What have mom and dad hidden from me?"
Kuro still had many questions, but no answers for them.
He still wasn't completely certain about what Jujutsu Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits were, but hopefully he'll get a full answer after school.
