ALEX
I knew Gabriela was angry, and not a little precisely, and what she had said wasn't one hundred percent true, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt me, because everything she said was true. I hurt her a lot a long time ago and was complicated to fix, that's why I stood there watching her as she left. But as soon as I saw a car was coming considerably fast, she was going to cross and the car didn't slow down, I didn't hesitate to move her out of her way. I wasn't going to let some asshole run her over. I started running like I've never run in my life; I grabbed her hip and luckily, I had enough time to pull us away from there. It didn't take me long to turn her around so I could see her face and give her a hug she returned shortly after. We held each other for a few minutes until I pulled away a bit to check on her.
"Are you OK?" I asked her, but she kept looking at me for a while and I was stunned seeing those eyes I liked so much. "Yes, I'm fine... Thanks to you." She whispered the last part, which brought a small smile to my face. "I had to; I wasn't going to let it happen."
"Thank you, and I'm sorry for saying that before, I didn't mean to hurt you or make you feel bad." She replied, and I knew she was serious "It's nothing, you're right in everything you said." I assured her, but she just denied "No, I don't. I was angry and even though it wasn't with you it came out, sorry."
"There's nothing to forgive, but if you feel better that way, I forgive you." I smiled at her and she thanked "Now tell me why you're so angry?" I asked again trying to find out what had happened with Carlota "I was, and it was because of Carlota."
"With Carlota? That's rare. What did she do to make you so angry?" I questioned, because if something was weird, it's the three of them argued, and even weirder if it was the way she had done it "She introduces me to guys so, according to her, to get a partner."
"Well, that's not necessary, you have too many guys behind you for her to introduce you to." I assured, and even though it was something I didn't like very much to put it in some way, I also know I wasn't going to be able to help it, Gabriela was beautiful "But I don't love any of them. She wants me to forget someone and I'm not able to do it."
As soon as she said that, I don't know why all my hopes of getting her back, left me. Although a tiny part of me was still hoping it would happen. It hurt me to hear it, but I wanted her to be happy, and if she got that with another person, I would let her be happy, it was the only thing I wanted for her.
"Who's that boy who stole your heart?" I asked, trying to mask my pain, although I'm not so sure I would succeed. "I won't tell you." She said smiling, to which I ended up giving back in a certain way " I hope you're happy with that boy and he doesn't do anything to hurt you."
"I don't think he will, he's very good and takes care of everything for me." She affirmed and I sank further into misery if possible "So what will happen to us?" I asked "What do you mean?" she inquired and frowned. "Can we be friends?" I inquired "I think we already are; I don't want to kill you like I did before."
That made me very happy, and a very small part believed it might be possible for me to return to her grew a little. It's true when they say hope is the last thing to be lost. "That makes me very happy."
We walked for a while in silence along the sidewalk and I don't really know where we were going, but I was already content just spending time with her. It is clear I didn't stop looking for her. She looked beautiful in that dress. It was black and tight that allowed me to admire all her curves. We were talking for hours and from the number of cars that passed, it could be said it was around six or seven in the morning and I was going to look at my cell phone until I noticed she was a bit cold, so I didn't hesitate to take off my jacket and pass it over her shoulders.
"What are you doing?" she questioned and I gave her a smile "Lend you my jacket, I know you're a little cold." I affirmed, because if I know anything about Gabriela, it's she hates cold to death "You don't need to lend it to me, I'll get over it." She assured, but I denied. The last thing I want was for her to catch cold "I'm going to leave it to you Gabriela."
"But you will also be cold." She insisted and I denied again "Don't worry, I won't have it. Really, keep it." I replied "Thank you, you are lovely." She said, giving me a big smile, "Do you want to go have breakfast?"
"It's too soon for us to go to breakfast, don't you think?" she asked and I looked at my phone, because it was clear to me, she was going to ask me and confirmed it wasn't as soon as she thought. Well. Bearing in mind ate breakfast around ten in the morning, it was early, but I would always have breakfast at this time if I could be with Gabriela with that.
"It's half past seven, I don't think it's that soon." Her eyes increased by two their normal size, which made me start laughing "What? Is already so late? I cannot believe it. They must be worried in my house." She said looking for what I suppose was her phone "Why?"
"Because I usually go home much earlier. Around three or four in the morning, that's why." She said "Is your mother still as worried as before?" I asked, because if I knew anything, it was Lara cared about her a lot. "Do you remember what my mother was like?"
"Everything that has to do with you I know. I didn't forget it." I assured her, because it was true "Why will it be. But hey, answering your question, I would say she worries more than before. Having them all on top of me isn't something I like too much "
"So, they haven't changed that much." I laughed and she nodded "Maybe, the only thing I know for sure is they care more than they did before." She answered and now it was my turn to nod "But that's normal, after everything we put you through it's logical, they care about you."
"It may be normal, but I know how to defend myself, that's something they don't understand." She said as if annoyed, which I suppose annoyed her to some extent, "And did they see it or did Marcos or Carlota tell them?" I asked, because if they told her now, she was defending herself, they shouldn't worry so much about her. "They don't have to tell them; they have to believe me."
"I'm going to tell you something and I don't want you to get angry." I said "What is it?" she asked with a frown. "I remember before you said you were defending yourself and things got worse. Don't you think after that, they'll have a hard time believing you? I'm not calling you a liar or anything, but considering you don't let others do things for you…"
"Looking at it like that, it makes sense." She replied, "But are you going to tell me neither Marcos nor Carlota told them?" I asked surprised and she denied "Yes, but following your logic, they cover me when I need it and my parents know that, that's why they don't trust them so much anyway."
"Okay, taking that into account, it's normal. But would you like to go have breakfast?" I inquired and she nodded with a big smile on her face "Of course, I'm really hungry." She assured "Well, I know a place near here makes the best croissants in the area." I agreed and she laughed "Then let's go."
We started walking in the direction of the cafeteria a couple of blocks away and at some point, we held hands, luckily, she never let go of my hand, so at that moment I was the happiest man in the world for that simple gesture. I loved her more and more and despite the fact she liked another guy, I would do everything possible to get her back, only until she told me to leave her alone, that she loved that boy, in which case I would let her go and be happy with him, no matter how much it hurt me.
