Chapter 6

"Boss, if you do not wake up now you're going to be late."

Leon's voice echoed in Duan Cai's ears as he groaned in annoyance. He did not want to be forced to go back to that mortal school. The fact that he was forced to attend such a simple mortal thing was enough to make him was to rage out at everything near him, but he knew he had to endure it for the sake of living his life in peace for the mortal family that believed him to still be their child. He had woken up early to attend the school with the other mortal children and even had Leon bring him. Halfway towards the school on their way he had fallen asleep in his seat and Leon had to call out to him to wake up. It felt almost embarrassing for a moment and that surge of random mortal emotion from his body made Duan Cai scowl at Leon as if it was all his fault.

"Look it's Duan Cai!"

"Really? That's Duan Cai?"

The whispers started to flood the area just as it had the day before as they all saw Duan Cai climb out of the car when Leon opened the door for him. The opinions of others did not bother him at all. Noise was something that Duan Cai did not like, but the opinions of sheep of course would not upset that of a wolf. If they wanted to talk about him than he was not going to bother to alter their opinion whether it was positive or negative about him. He simply started to walk towards the building while they all whispered and some of them even pointed while they spoke about him in various ways.

"D-Daun C-Cai? Good morning!" Shea blushed as she rushed over to him and gave him a friendly bow reflexively.

"Yes, good morning to you too." He smiled at Shea as he replied to her causing her blush to deepen further. For a mortal girl the extent of pure and innocent she kept coming off to him felt interesting.

"Hey, Duan Cai!" A voice called out to him from across the hallway as they both walked inside together.

"Yes?" Duan Cai responded to the boy and thought hard for a moment to recall the name of the kid. It took a moment for him to remember, but from what he could gather from his body's memories it seemed the kid's name was Amos. He had a slick looking black hair style that looked like he spent a lot of time on grooming himself when he woke up. His black shirt was long sleeved and he wore a pair of jeans. At a glance his outfit almost looked casual, but at a closer look it was obvious the kid came from a wealthy family.

"Since when do you come from money? What the hell happened to you lately?" Amos's red eyes glared at Duan Cai as if he was trying to mentally solve a puzzle in his head that was obviously bothering him.

"Life?" Duan Cai shrugged with a smile innocently in attempt to avoid the topic.

"Don't avoid the question!" Amos snarled in his tone at Duan Cai.

Duan Cai's golden eyes started to emit a faint golden light as he watched Amos. The frustrated kid slowly strode up to him and grabbed Duan Cai by his shirt. They were both glaring each other in the eyes with gritted teeth. He could not stand the kid, Amos, touching him. It felt unpleasant and he wanted to send the kid flying to the wall. As if she was terrified he could even see Shea from the corner of his eye shaking from her own nerves during the situation.

"You're just some poor kid playing big in front of others! Don't you-"

Before Amos could even finish talking Duan Cai had lost his nerve. His fist envoloped in a golden light slammed into the kid's gut. Blood burst from Amos's mouth as he was sent flying across the hall and into a set of lockers. The lockers instantly dented on impact and the boy fell to the floor coughing. Whispers from onlookers in the hallway started to quickly fill the air as the golden light slowly faded away from Duan Cai's hand as if it had never even been there.

"Well fuck.." Duan Cai mumbled to himself as he tried to think over how to deal with the situation he was now in as he watched Amos kneeling on the ground coughing hard to catch his breath from the impact that still left his body shaking to his core.

Amos's eyes were wide as he glanced over at Duan Cai with confusion in his mind. It was hard for him to even determine if he own shaking was caused by fear or by the impact itself. As he thought about it further it was possible for him to believe the shaking was caused by both options together. He had never seen Duan Cai with any form of fighting ability in the past as he had seen the old Duan Cai get pushed around by many people in the years he'd seen him. It felt like Amos was looking at some sort of demon in Duan Cai's body. Humiliation started to fill him as he wanted to kill Duan Cai for sending him flying like that in front of everyone.

"Watch your back, Cai! You might've got me this time off guard, but you wont get me again in the future." Amos grit his teeth as he slowly forced himself to stand while bracing himself against the lockers. His hand slowly wiping away the blood from his mouth.

"Any time!" Duan Cai smiled brightly as if he was enjoying the offer to fight and causing Amos to freeze for a moment at the response.

Amos slowly turned and used all his strength to leave the scene as quickly as he could. Many people in the crowd could not understand why Duan Cai was able to take down Amos so easily, but even more of them were wondering why Duan Cai would even attempt to anger Amos. Amos was from a powerful family and no one could even handle contemplating getting on Amos's bad side. To Duan Cai, however, the mortal was nothing but an annoying pest that dared to touch the suit he was wearing. It had made him feel filthy to have someone like Amos grab his clothes.

What does a man do when a bug crawls in front of them? They squash it.
