Chang Wook went on his computer and as he opened the browser, he could see a news headline.
"Fight breaks out between a President and a CEO"
Chang Wook read through it carefully. All the basic details were true, someone got fired, there was an argument, but the article made it look like Ha Eun couldn't keep her staff in check and seemed to blame the firing of the president on the CEO's jealousy towards her having a loving relationship while in all her life on the spotlight, Ha Eun has never been seen in a relationship.
The comment section was the worst of all. People were commenting that she was sleeping around with men because of her loneliness and other incredibly stupid stuff like that.
Chang Wook couldn't believe what he was reading. What world do these people live in? Can't a woman be happy and successful without a man next to her? Chang Wook stopped himself from thinking about that. He was defending a person that he hates.
After work Chang Wook didn't dare leave his desk, not until everyone else had gone home. He didn't want to be bombarded by questions or be looked down on. He knew that someone would mention how he might be sleeping his way to the top. He doesn't know how he'll react if someone mentions it to his face and to be completely honest, he's embarrassed. He couldn't face anyone after he saw all their looks when he walked past them.
"Come on, the driver is waiting for us downstairs" Ha Eun told him as she exited her office. Although marrying her assistant was the last thing she thought she'd ever do on her time in this earth; he was her only life line.
In the car he sat next to her and the driver knew where to go before she even asked. He heard the rumors of her engagement with Chang Wook. He couldn't believe someone would actually marry that monster…willingly. He also couldn't believe it was Chang Wook. He was such a free spirit and was always kind, to everyone, but the boss was the complete opposite. He thought that maybe the saying of opposites attracting was true after all, what he didn't know was that the engagement was a sham and neither party wanted this.
"Don't worry, after the marriage. We'll wait a few months and then we'll get an itty-bitty divorce" Ha Eun told Chang Wook with a smile "All will be right with the world" Chang Wook though, still couldn't understand that happy look on her face as if what they were doing was okay.
Once they arrived at the legal office Ha Eun and Chang Wook were directed to where they would get their marriage licenses. Ha Eun expected it to be a few signatures and that would be it but she wasn't expecting what the lawyer would tell her.
"You need family signatures"
Ha Eun let out a chuckle thinking she understood him wrong "Excuse you?" she asked. Chang Wook felt embarrassed. She just had a fight with the President, now she's picking a fight with a lawyer? "Do we look underage to you?"
"Listen, either you get signatures or you guys don't get married"
"That won't be possible, we need to get married now. Today!" Ha Eun said. Trying to make a sort of deal with the man.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you guys don't even want to get married" the man said. Ha Eun and Chang Wook glanced at each other as if they'd been caught lying.
"What makes you think that?" Ha Eun asked.
"You ma'am, look like you want to marry him, but you don't look like you love him, and he looks like he doesn't want to be here at all"
Ha Eun let out an awkward chuckle "Well, you can believe me when I tell you that we are so in love with each other we can't bare to be apart for even a second" Ha Eun placed her hand on Chang Wooks shoulder.
Chang Wook on the other hand couldn't bring himself to say anything. Since Ha Eun was doing all the talking and she was the one that wanted to get married he decided to just sit there and nod. Her placing her hand on his shoulder made him tense up in awkwardness, but he went to place his hand over hers' just to add to their endearment, but she quickly shook him off and moved her hand away.
"Mhm" was the only thing the lawyer said. It wasn't even a word and it didn't even look like he believed them "I'll act like I didn't see that horrible attempt to show endearment and tell you two one more time that I need signatures. And don't even think of plagiarizing their signatures because we will know"
