Chapter six : Can we really get along?

Isa's Pov

  After Mrs North's demise and Mr North's disappearance, I started living in their house, all by myself. I didn't have anywhere else to go. I miss Nolan. He was the only friend I had. I started school but I didn't make any friends, I was scared they would leave eventually. I've been living with Niall for a few months, Owen joined last month. He can be a handful but he's really nice and attentive. He's really funny too. He reminds me of Nolan. They're so alike. Grandma said Nolan was coming back. She didn't tell us the day he was coming. I sighed as I walked into the lounge. I was about to climb the stairs when I suddenly had the urge to look back. I looked back slowly, and I saw him. The person I always wanted to see and also dreaded seeing.

        "Nolan" I said as my heart skipped a beat.  "Aren't you surprised to see me?" He asked. "It's not like you're a celebrity or that she was awaiting your arrival." Owen said curtly. He took off his hearing aids, placed them in their case and closed his eyes.  "I'm gonna go to bed" Isa said as she climbed the stairs.

        "Nice job" Haru said with a straight face.

   The next day

     Nolan's Pov

       I don't even know what I'm gonna say to her. I laid back on my bed as I remembered the last day we were together. I really miss those days. I don't think she likes me anymore. I was about to leave my room when someone entered. I thought it was Isa but as soon as I inhaled the perfume, I knew that it was Haru.

       "Not who you were hoping to see?" Haru asked as he looked around. "No kidding " , I replied. "Are you okay?", I know you must feel overwhelmed." Haru voiced his concern. "I'm fine Haru." I replied. "Let's go downstairs." I added. "What if he's there?" Haru asked with  a frown on his face. "He?, Owen?" I asked as I was confused. "He's mean", He replied. "No kidding" I added as I pushed him forward and we headed downstairs.

       "Hey" I said to Isa. "Hi", she replied. "I wanted to ask, who's your friend?" "He's Haruto." Nolan said with a tone of disappointment. "It's a beautiful name." Isa said.

    "Are we lying now?", Owen asked. "That wasn't a lie." Isa replied. "Sure" Owen said." It's pretty obvious that you were  being sarcastic." Niall said.

       "Nolan, I'm glad you're back." Isa said. "Thanks. "Nolan replied." "I didn't think you would come though." Isa added. "Really?" Owen asked. "What?" Isa said as she was confused. "You on a lying spree?" Owen asked. "I'm not doing this today Owen." Isa said as she left. Probably to her room. "See, he has a problem." Haru said." "No kidding." I replied.

         "So, how did you guys meet?" Niall asked. "That's the best you could do?" Owen asked. "What was I supposed to ask then?" Niall said. "You could ask why he's wearing that ugly shirt, or why he's being awkward around herr." "Herr?" Niall asked as he confused.  "My shirt is ugly?, you think this shirt is ugly." "I wouldn't wear it if it was the last shirt in earth." Owen said. "Is it really that bad", Haru asked embarrassed. "Yeah, it's really flashy." Niall said. "Very flashy." Nolan added. "And ugly." Niall said. "Very ugly." Nolan added. " You gave me this shirt." Haru said angrily. "No wonder it looked familiar. I didn't think you'd ever wear it. Nolan said. "I'm sure you did" Haru said as he rolled his eyes. Niall laughed while Owen tried to hide his. "I'm never taking anything from you ever again." Haru said as he went up the stairs.

      " By the way, what's up with you and Isa?" Niall asked as Owen rolled his eyes and stood up. "Boring" He said and left. "Don't worry, you'll get used to him." Niall said as he saw the look on Nolan's face. "Sure", Nolan replied. "Don't you guys go to school?" Nolan asked. "Nah, I'm probably gonna die before I'm twenty five. It's kinda pointless." Niall said.

       " Truth be told, I don't know what to do."  Nolan said. "I'm scared, really scared."  He added. "I understand." Niall said as he tried to be understanding. "I was always jealous of you, thinking that you had a normal childhood. "I'm sorry you went through all that all by yourself. Niall said. "It must have been worse for you guys, spending your childhood in the hospital isn't exactly a normal way to grow up." Nolan added.

     "Yeah, life isn't a fairytale." Niall said.
