Adelaine Hammond unexpectedly transmigrated into her own forgotten and unfinished novel. She had a new identity, a new world, and a new existence—she became Remillia Lockhart, a character she never knew existed. In simple terms, she's an extra, a minor character in her own story. The moment she accepts that this is now her reality, she set out two plans: survive and wait for the novel to end; or, survive, become the richest person alive, and live comfortably. She throws herself into everything necessary to stay alive. But then, strange things start happening—why is she developing love interests? The novel she once wrote is changing, becoming more bizarre and unpredictable. Monsters grow stronger, new enemies appear, and a series of events unfold that she never wrote. To her surprise, she’s even gaining abilities beyond the original protagonist’s. "Damn it. Should I just stay and enjoy the life I'm having or escape this world and go back to my plain, old, boring life?" I sighed as I stared at the hordes of monsters charging straight to me.

Chapter 1Chapter 01

Metro Manila, Philippines

36-year-old Adelaine Hammond sat in her messy study table, surrounded by stacks of books and papers, the soft glow of her laptop screen casting a warm hue in the dimly lit room.

She had just finished her latest novel, "Echoes of Time," a project completed in just six months, despite an entire year allocated for its writing.

Leaning back in her chair, she savored the intoxicating feeling of accomplishment, when suddenly, a new email notification flickered on her screen.

Ding!

Ding!

Curiosity piqued, Adelaine clicked on the message. It was from an anonymous sender, and the subject line read: "Proposal for 'The Heroes' Dawn.'"

Conflicting emotions surged within her—hesitation and a twinge of disappointment. She opened the email and read:

The sender, a devoted follower of the title, was asking for permission to remake her novel. The perplexity washed over her; how could he possibly want to rework something she had long since abandoned?

Her novel, "The Heroes' Dawn," was under a paid serialization agreement, and she had ceased writing it ages ago. Even if the idea of allowing a remake didn't send her into a spiral of embarrassment, she wouldn't have been able to agree. It would breach the contract she had signed, and worse, it reopened old wounds—the memory of her struggles during that turbulent writing process.

This was the first novel she had penned since becoming an intern at a well-regarded publishing company. At twenty, she had fervently awaited to break into the literary world, pouring her youthful exuberance into every chapter without the benefit of mindful retrospection. It had quickly garnered a following among teenagers, turning into what many considered one of her greatest hits over her thirteen-year career.

Yet now, years later, an avalanche of insecurity cascaded over her as she read the email. She was painfully reminded of the inadequacies of that story, which had once been a beacon of hope for her. The truth was, she never completed it. Writer's block had taken root, blurring her once-clear vision.

In her eagerness to produce, she had hastily crafted each chapter, driven by an insatiable energy to share her creation. She bypassed proofreading entirely, fueled solely by the thrill of writing and posting each installment. But after a year, the torrent of creativity slowed, stunted by a persistent mental fog that left her grappling with bewildered characters and tangled plotlines. As the quality of her work plummeted, so too did her readership. Critiques fell like stones, their weight too heavy for her fragile confidence. She stopped reading comments altogether, fearing the sting of judgment.

Ultimately, she abandoned the novel, seeking solace in another story. A brief break became a new beginning.

Ding!

Ding!

Adelaine was jolted back to the present as another notification blinked on her screen—it was the same sender.

"If you're worried about copyright laws, I promise not to disclose the remake version of your novel to anyone. It will remain between us. I'll only show it to you. Perhaps it might inspire you to finish it."

Adelaine's mind churned as she contemplated the offer. Against her better judgment, she closed the message, opened a new tab, and entered "The Heroes' Dawn" in the search bar. A website materialized before her, and she clicked it. The title stared back at her in bold letters; "THE HEROES' DAWN," boasting an astounding total of 5,968 chapters. A whirlwind of emotion enveloped her—shock, nostalgia, but primarily exhaustion tugging at her eyelids. She shut down her laptop and headed straight to bed.

The silence of the room enveloped her, but after a brief moment, the screen flickered back to life. Sparks burst forth, illuminating the darkness around her.

Zap!

Zap!

Zap!

Adelaine jolted upright in bed, heart racing. She rubbed her eyes, staring incredulously at the chaotic display. She blinked, uncertain if she was still dreaming or if insanity was nipping at her heels. The laptop's screen danced with erratic light, sending shadows spinning against the walls.

"Okay, maybe I'm just too tired," she muttered to herself, but even as she spoke, a strange energy pulsed in the air. Gripped by a blend of fear and curiosity, she approached the laptop, half-expecting it to devour her the moment she leaned closer. The glowing screen beckoned, pulses synchronizing with her heartbeat as if the laptop itself were alive. "What the hell is happening?" she murmured, cautiously reaching out a trembling hand.

The moment Adelaine touched her laptop, a jolt of electricity surged through her entire body, and everything went black.

Devilish secretary

After centuries of ruling the underworld with terrifying power, Lilith dies in an epic battle, only to be reborn in the human world. But instead of a grand rebirth as a queen of darkness, she's reincarnated as something far more mundane—a secretary. Rather than despair, Lilith finds this new life amusing. After all, who would suspect the devil herself to be working a 9-to-5? Settling into her new reality, Lilith embraces her role, living in a luxurious apartment and working diligently in her office. Though her devilish instincts are hard to suppress, she's determined to be the perfect secretary. But when people push her too far, the devil within still comes out to play. When a creep in the office dares to look at her the wrong way, she calmly fixes her gaze on him. "You keep staring like that, and I'll show you what a broken wrist feels like." The man quickly scurries away, leaving Lilith with a satisfied smirk. Even the rich, entitled girl from accounting isn't safe from her wrath. "You think you can push me around just because you've got money? I've burned entire kingdoms for less. Don't test me." She says this with a calm smile, her eyes glinting dangerously. The day continued like that—stopping creeps in their tracks, putting rude heiresses in their place, and being the flawless secretary she intended to be. But, of course, her boss—the CEO—had his eyes on her, more curious than ever. And while the entire office might fear her or wonder about her, she remained blissfully indifferent. This was fun. And she wasn't here to impress anyone but herself. Who knew being a secretary could be so... interesting?

I gotta say, I got this story on my daily reco and I'm glad that I took the plunge to read it. It's quite a fun lighthearted read. I ended up reading up to the privileged chapters (chapter 43) The MC is a fun character. To me, she comes off almost borderline psychotic with the way she talks to her pet owl and system out loud, thereby having random people looking at her weirdly. She's got a very nonchalant attitude, but that also doesn't stop her from giving the same energy back whenever people try her. I like the way the author didn't do the typical "oh I gotta get away from the MC and co. to be an extra!!!"...while doing things that get the MC and their crew's attention. MC here legit goes out of her way to stay with the MC here because she knows she needs to help them, especially seeing how things are changing. I think the story is a bit too early to judge the other characters as atm they need fleshing out, but I trust that the author will get into that once we get more chapters and the more she interacts with the world. Right now as the story is still a bit early, we're only getting snippets here and there of the actual world, but from what we've seen so far it seems promising. While there are some tropes that are reminiscent of other novels of a similar genre, (TNE as one example) I think the author did a good job of putting their own twist into it that kept me engaged. There are a couple of minor grammatical errors and typos, but nothing that would throw you off of your immersion to the story. Now the big thing. The author put paid chapters starting from chapter 20 and while I personally think that it's too early, I hope you readers continue with it anyway. I found it's worth spending my coins on the story as I've found it to be an enjoyable read so far.
